"So- when he gives me my shit, I say we hike out to some clearing and smoke under the stars," Eddie mused as they walked, though hiking didn't seem so appealing in the moment. Why'd this place have to be so far away? "You know, that way we don't have to worry about Max walking in on us or anything?" Not 'cause he thinks she has a delicate constitution or anything, but because he's not sure he trusts his non-sober self to refuse her if she asked to join. And he had a feeling Harrington would object to any of his nuggets seeing him messed up.

He pulled up the map again, attempting to orient them and make sure they were still heading the right way. "Should be just around here if I'm reading this right."

"Russians," he says to Eddie. "Long story."

Steve thinks it's a little rich to ask them not to do anything foolish when the only reason they were even here was because of Wesker. But he still remembers that gun levelled at Eddie and doesn't want to see it again. "Yeah, fine," he says. "We need clean clothes if you can have something dropped off."

He looks at his arm and the place he was injected.

"And we'll be fine? No like...cancer or whatever from the weird, melty thing?" He glances up at Eddie, just checking he's still fine.

Of course. Russians. Eddie nods a bit numbly.

A few days...they'll need to let Max know. But Eddie presses his lips together, not wanting to mention her in front of Wesker.

"What else counts as foolish?" he asks. Apart from trying to refuse Wesker?

Russians, huh? Oddly enough that adds up with Wesker's own experiences with certain members of Umbrella. But he doesn't mention it. Instead he turns a shaded look towards Eddie. "Don't test it."

Turning to Steve he adds: "I assume you have friends here. Use your phones to tell them to drop off new clothes at the front desk. I will collect it from there." That said he turns away and heads for the door again, waving off Steve's concerns with a small huff. "Don't insult me. Of course you will be fine."

"Dude! I showed up like a week ago! The only other friend I have is a fifteen year old girl and I am not exactly thrilled about the idea of her seeing me wrapped up in a towel!"

Steve scrubs a hand over his face and tries to go over anyone else that he knows of in his head. The fast dude... Billy...Link or Radley... No one he would ask to get him shit. He looks over at Eddie.

"What about you? Got someone who can do that?"

Eddie's too sore to challenge that warning with any cute remarks, and nods laying on his side.

"No one's going to see us," Eddie interprets, given that Wesker's going to intercept the clothes at the front desk. Which must mean no visitors until they're less...radioactive or whatever.

He nods though. "I know a few people. There's a guy who can probably grab some shit from the room for us."

Steve nods, feeling exhausted all over again. With Wesker gone though, he shifts off his bed and walks closer to Eddie. He reaches out to pat his shoulder and then just holds onto it for support.

"You okay though? That guy is a fucking maniac. I can't believe he pointed a gun at you..."

"Yeah, that was uh..." Eddie blinks and puts on a smile for Steve to reassure him. "I'm good. I mean...I'm shit right now. But I'm good."

He touches a hand to Steve's chest with a concerned look. "He's stronger than he looks, he didn't crush your rib cage or anything, did he?"

Steve didn't even think about his own interaction with Wesker. He looks down at Eddie's hand on his chest and feels his heartbeat pick up. Because of the memory of Wesker's rougher touch, probably. Had to be. He offers Eddie a smile.

"Nah. I'm good. I mean...yeah. Shit just like you said. But I am good... Just radioactive and having a migraine."

"Just one of the many perks of hanging with me," Eddie teases with a self depreciating grin. Really though, from Eddie almost slitting his throat, to the bats, to this- they were having a perfect run of shit rolls, and it's hard for Eddie not to feel like he is some how cosmically cursed.

"Let me turn the lights back out and I can grab us some water. See if we can keep it down."

Steve wants to offer to do it himself, but the movement and stress from the last few minutes is making him feel ten times worse. At least now, though, he feels a bit more like he's in the middle of a normal migraine attack. The extra edge from radiation poisoning is more muted which is a fucking blessing. But the migraine is enough alone to lay him out, so Steve just nods and goes back to his bed to lay down with a groan.

He puts his arm over his eyes to cover them. He can feel the fever in his body still raging but it's not as bad as before. Still, Steve groans a little more with the pain.

"At least we have weed now.."

Ah- blissful dark. Eddie flips the switch and actually sighs in relief. Fetching the water, he returns to set a glass by Steve's bed, taking a tentative sip from his own.

"Do we?" Wesker's visit feels like a blur, did he fully miss the payout?

Steve blinks, replaying the visit. Shit. No, they didn't get it yet, did they? He groans, miserable as he sits up and takes the water so he can swallow a few sips down. It's as much as his stomach can take even though he's dying of thirst. He'll need to try again later, if this stays down.

"We will have it. I will get the nail bat and force him to hand it over if he doesn't give it to us. We earned every single blunt."

"The second that gun came out I kinda forgot pretty much everything else that happened," Eddie admits, and he rubs at his arm with a frown.

"If it was in here it'd be all radioactive by the time we left," he guesses, not really sure how that all works, but it sounds right.

"Yeah..." That is probably true. Still, the idea of being high right now instead of just in pain is a heady one. God, what he wouldn't do for just some pot injected into his arm next to whatever other shit is in there now.

Steve rolls his head over so he can look over at Eddie in the dark. He smiles, just a little.

"We're both idiots," he says with a soft chuckle. "What did we both think we could really do to stop him? Jesus..."

"...I have a few cigarettes?" Not the same. And not wholly appealing right this minute, but it's something. Wesker didn't bring those painkillers he asked for, unless they were part of whatever he injected them with. They'll have to wait to see if that's the case.

He smiles and perches on the edge of Steve's bed. "If he wasn't some kind of super dude I think you might've had him. It was touch, Harrington."

"If you smoke a cigarette right now, I'll kill you." The smell alone will make him jump out a window.

When the bed dips, Steve opens his eyes and offers Eddie a grateful grin. There is no possible way he'd have been able to take on Wesker but it is still nice to hear a compliment.

"Dude is a dick. I'll get him next time. Just need some more push-ups."

"Heh," Eddie grins, and plays up like he's considering it, just to tease. He thinks he'd be sick if he actually tried. That and Tae would find out some how and suddenly appear to smack it out of his hand for daring to smoke in the hospital. Honestly, maybe he should try, just to see if she'll rescue them.

"Oh tooootally," he agrees with a laugh, "You almost had him. And uh...you know, before everything with Chrissy at least- I could count on one hand the number of people who've tried to fight for me, so uh...you know...it was nice. Is all." He shrugs. Totally casual.

Steve looks at Eddie and for a moment his headache is a shade underneath miserable. Maybe because he is focusing so much on Eddie and what he just said. It's heartbreaking considering everything that happened.

"Yeah, well. You deserve that, you know. To have someone fight for you." He shifts up in his bed so he can look Eddie in the eye a bit better. The headache comes back with the change of position but it's worth it. "Don't take that as an incentive to start shit... but you'll always have me watching your back. Okay?"

"..." Eddie stops himself from protesting, even in jest, and allows himself to smile. "Same," he promises with a faint laugh, "You know- for whatever that's worth." He's not the best fighter.

"...how weird is it that this isn't even weird?" he asks to change the subject, gesturing to their current set up- both of them from total opposite ends of the social ladder, sweaty, miserable, naked apart from a towel and some blankets. And no where near the weirdest shit they've been through.

Steve chuckles, even though it hurts. "Yeaaah. Your definition of 'weird' sort of changes after all of the shit we've seen. And then getting kidnapped by aliens? I don't think we will ever think anything is weird ever again."

He kicks his foot out under the blanket so he can hit Eddie's thigh with friendly affection.

"For whatever this is worth, I wish it never would have been weird. You and me being friends. I probably would have been a better person a lot earlier if I was with your crowd." He pauses and finally: "I'm sorry, by the way. About whatever me or my friends did to you and yours. I really am."

"Heh." Eddie leans into the hit with a smirk. "I dunno. We're pretty selective, you might not have made the cut, even if you weren't a douche," he teases, trying to take some of the seriousness from the conversation.

"I know. You keep saying," he notes with a small smile, but he nods his head. "...we gave some of it back," he acknowledges, "...I know you're not that guy anymore, Steve. You don't need to keep trying to make up for that stuff. We're good."

"It's still true," Steve grumbles, through a smile despite his tone. "And you should absolutely give me more shit for this. You're letting me off easy." He can't say he minds though. Not when it means this easy friendship can stay the way it is. Steve can honestly say the whole kidnapping thing is a lot easier with Eddie here with him.

Having him back just in general is just... just overall great.

"And I woulda made the cut. I'm persistent, Munson. You can only hold me off for so long."

"You want me to give you shit?" Old Eddie would have enjoyed that, getting to finally have it out with King Steve. But they've both changed... "Blame Henderson for hyping you up all year."

"Yeah? You think you would have been freak enough?" He looks Steve over with mock appraisal, not that he can see much of him in the dark.

Steve is tired, sick, and enjoying the distraction that Eddie is providing. That has to be the reason that he leans forward and smirks.

"I think I could surprise you, Munson. More of a freak than you know."

That draws a surprised laugh, and Eddie cants his head curiously, squinting through the pain but grinning, likewise glad for the distraction.

"Is that right?? Care to give me an example?" he challenges.
