+1 Babysitter

WHAT: A Babysitter named Steve enters the chat
WHEN: Post sports day. He'll be devastated he missed it

Steve still wasn't entirely sure what had happened to him. One second he was asleep in the hellscape that was now Hawkins, and then he was in some sort of alien city? The floating orb thing had explained it to him, kind of, but he didn't know if he could trust that information. After all, why would a group of aliens looking to hurt them just outright say that? It would be stupid. So who fucking knew what this whole thing was about.

Not to mentioned they were all kidnapped. That didn't seem like great behavior, all considered. Definitely not a super first impression.

But it didn't seem like he had a lot of say on it. He was here now and it was up to him to make the best of it. At least he had his bat. Steve rested it against his shoulder as he walked around the area, just getting the layout. Not that he was absorbing all that much, of course. He kept stopping short, seeing some sort of weird animal or strange looking building. Finally though, after his wandering, he saw something that looked more familiar. Someone to talk to, maybe. Another hostage?

"Hey!  Wait up!" Steve runs to catch up. "Hey, I'm new here. Are you...uh. Kidnapped too?"


[Boy's Gotta Eat]

It's been a long few days of trying to get his bearings and settling in. Steve finally stopped bringing his nailbat with him but that didn't mean his guard is down. He'd had enough moments of thinking things were fine only to have a monster pop out of nowhere to ever be truly relaxed. Besides, he is still a hostage, nevermind that the aliens are pink and sort of adorable in an oblivious, Eleven sort of way. Have to stay on his toes.

And that means he really needs to get some food.

Steve saw the diner on the map and ventures out early in the morning. He isn't sure how he is going to pay or what sort of food will be in there, but he's finished the protein bars he'd gotten from the replicator and is starving. Beggars can't be choosers.

"Hello?" He walks inside and looks around. "Uh. Here for the food? As long as it's not like, alien worms or something like that?" Although he's hungry enough that it maybe wouldn't matter.

It's early- earlier than Eddie would normally be awake, but he's been having trouble sleeping, and after stepping out for a cigarette he figured he might as well have some breakfast.

He hears Steve's voice and peers over from the plates he's filling with an amused look and a wave.

"Worms, Harrington? Really?" he greets. He hasn't done the best job of showing Steve around, clearly, bringing them back food but never actually bothering to show him where he's been getting it from.

"Come're, I started a plate for you."

"Oh thank God. You're an angel, I don't care what Hawkins says." Steve rushes forward and hooks his head around Eddie's shoulder to see what he's been getting set up. Taking the plate, he follows Eddie's lead and just sort of piles food on.

"How are we supposed to pay for this? You might be able to put on a concert and break even but I apparently just missed out on my shot for monetizing sports skill."

Eddie preens a little, handing over the plate. There seems to be some kind of meat, some baked goods- it's not a bad spread.

"Heh, I wish you'd been here. Or maybe I don't. Don't need you seeing how bad I did trying to get enough points. But uh- we don't? I mean kind of? People cook, and everyone can take what they want if they help. I can't really cook for shit, but I clean up sometimes and stuff," he shrugs a shoulder. He tries.

"Huh." Steve already picks up something baked and starts chomping into it. "I can't imagine that you did bad. Unless everyone here wanted to hear like. Pop music and you're too cool for Madonna."

He grins at Eddie and chases the baked good with some of the meat. Whatever it is, it's pretty good. He's not gonna ask questions.

"I can clean up later today to cover this. I'm good with stuff like that. Might as well."

Eddie laughs, "Nah, the sports, man. You may not remember, but sports and I do noooot get along." Though he's not far off on Eddie's general reluctance to play pop music.

Probably better not to ask questions. Eddie knows he hasn't seen anything like a barnyard animal in this place, apart from those glownie things, so he does his best not to think about it.

"You are?" he asks, looking surprised.

Stopping short, Billy's lips quirk a little at the question, and he nods as Steve catches up, glancing at the bat and then back to the newcomer's face.

"Fellow Kidnapee," he acknowledges with a small laugh, and offers his hand, "I'm Billy. You okay?"

Billy. Oh, boy. If that name isn't a throw back. Steve takes it and gives a quick shake. "Steve. Yeah, I am okay, mostly. Nothing I didn't come with, anyways." He gestures vaguely to his middle.

"Were you just brought here too? Or... have you been here for awhile?"

Another Steve.

"A few years now," Billy answers, frowning faintly at that quickly dismissed gesture to his midsection, not so ready to let it go.

"Anything I can help with? I work at the hospital here."

Steve thinks about it and shrugs. "I mean, I think it's mostly healed?" He lifts his shirt up with one hand and shows what looks like mostly healed animal bites. It's still red around the edges in the worst places and the deepest wounds are still pretty gnarly looking. He shrugs again.

"It was worse last week."

Even Stranger Things

Ash and Pikachu happen to be on their way back in town after spending most of the day running around the forest and doing some training. Just because there are no other Pokemon around doesn't mean they can afford to get lazy.

So this ten year old and looking very much like he's been rolling, and running around in the dirt with his bright yellow friend perched happily on his shoulder. The two turn around when they're approached and exchange looks.

"Um.. I guess." Technically, they were brought here against their will which would qualify as kidnapping. "But since they just need our help with something, I'm willing to forgive them." He just offers a shrug.

"Pika." Pikachu agrees, eyeing Steve suspiciously.

"Holy shit." Steve stumbles back from the kid mostly because of whatever it is perched on his shoulder. He doesn't seem upset about it though so Steve figures it's friendly.

"Uh, right," he says finally, realizing this is a kid. One that at least has better hats than Dustin. "Yeah. I guess that makes it a little better." His eyes keep skirting over to the yellow animal with too much blush. "So. Uh. What's...uh. That thing?"

And yet more people using words that would have his mother up in arms. Perhaps he just needs to get used to that. He watches at the older person keeps glancing up at Pikachu who is still watching him, trying to determine if he's a threat or not.

"You mean Pikachu?" Ash glances to his friend. "He's my good buddy. I'm Ash." He introduces.

"Pika PiKachu." Pikachu introduces himself, his suspicious gaze faltering as he raises a hand in greeting.

Steve nods mutely, not sure what to make of that answer. "Sure. I'm Steve. Nice to meet you Ash, and...Pikachu." He considers the animal-looking thing a moment longer and then finally figures he needs to ask:

"You say buddy. So like. Is he...a person? Is this like a witch spell that made him a yellow rabbit?"

Diner

Radley comes out of the kitchen with an amused smile-smirk. "Hi!" he greets. "Thankfully, we serve fairly normal food here. You're new, huh?"

Steve looks at the new guy and nods. "Yeah. Just a few days. My name is Steve." He looks around and frowns a little. "I don't know how to pay for this, but I can work to make up for some meals? Clean dishes or whatever? I also know how to cook pretty good?"

"I'm Radley," he says. "Don't worry, nobody has any money. Paying with labor is perfectly welcome. We can always use extra hands!"

Steve smiles and makes his into little jazz hands to emphasize it. "Cool. Do you want me to schedule like...shifts or something? I'm really new. I have no idea how this stuff works but back home I had shifts at my video store so that would work?"

As it turns out, the person Steve runs up to is short, pointy-eared, and casually carrying around multiple weapons. On his back there's a complicated-looking compound bow, quiver full of arrows, and a large sword.

"...Hi," Link says, looking at Steve as he considers the question. Has he been kidnapped too? Eventually, he comes to a decision and nods. "Yes."

Steve looks at the guy and immediately thinks of Dustin's games and the weird options he kept ranting about. He takes in the arrows and the ears and smiles, pointing in excitement.

"Oh my God! You're an elf! Holy shit, that's amazing! Have you met Eddie? Jesus he'll be stoked."

Link blinks. This was...not a reaction he was expecting.

"Not an elf," he corrects. Though thanks to Lerith, he does actually know what an elf is, and why he's so easily mistaken for one. "I'm a Hylian."

Though why being an elf would provoke such excitement, Link has no idea.

"...Who's Eddie?"

"Oh. Hey Ahylian. I'm Steve." If the guy wasn't an elf, he sure looked like one. But whatever. Another universe, he guessed. He was almost getting used to this at this point.

"Eddie is a friend of mine. Long dark hair? Huge eyes? Loud? You'll know him when you see him."

Even Stranger? Seems Normal to Him

Not only a stranger, but a big one. A tall, heavily muscled guy with clear tattoos peeking out under his t-shirt, a string of animals that look like a hybrid between a piglet and a squirrel dangling over his shoulder, and a book in his free hand.

Yes, Gladio does read and walk at the same time. Thanks for asking. It's easier when it's a reread if something from home, clearly not written in English. But still, dude that is clearly comfortable here. Kidnappee? Kidnapper? Questions abound. And the dude is turning to look over his shoulder at Steve.

"I prefer the term 'spacially displaced," he jokes. "You new?"

Steve stares at the strange animals that are strung around the huge guy's shoulder. They look like nothing he's ever seen before but also not like something from the Upside Down. He's not sure if they were hunted or caught like mice. It probably doesn't matter, really. If this is what people eat here, he'll have to get used to it.

"Heh," he laughs at the joke, snapping out of his curiosity. "Yeah, just arrived pretty much. My name is Steve." He looks back at the animals. "What are those?"

"Gladio," he says in response. What sort of name is Steve? Well, whatever. He turns fully to look at the kid. "They're piglet-squirrels. Going to have the cook kid make kebabs."

Sounds good, right?

Steve looks at the animals and tries very hard to not look as confused and vaguely grossed out as he is. "Oh. Piglet-squirrels. Right." He wrinkled his nose a little, head tilting. "Do...they take like pig or squirrel? Or is it chicken? I heard that everything tastes like chicken."
