[Eddie would have preferred the theatrics of the drama room, but he did his best to set up an imposing angle for his message. ]

I’m thinking a lot of us could use a chance to blow off some steam, hmm? Lots of work to do around here, and weird ass monsters to fight, but not a whole lot in the way of recreation.

Back home I ran a group called Hellfire Club. Led us in some of the most epic D&D campaigns Hawkins Indiana ever saw. And I was thinking…I could offer my services as Dungeon Master here if people were interested.

Beggars can’t be choosers and I know we have a lot of people who’ve never played, so- lucky you- I’ve decided to open up admission to first timers. Little bonus- anyone who joins gets a Hellfire Mk2 shirt of their very own.

[He shifts to show off the new design he’s printed, a proud smirk on his face.]

I’ll be at the diner this week for people to sell me on their characters. If it’s your first go, I’ll have sheets prepared and can help you fill them out.

Eddie laughed and nodded. "Oh no, yeah, I'm totally the King Freak. So tell me about your guy then. He's not one of the demons you were talking about, is he? Cause that would be awkward."

This was an area that Tony was more of an expert at dodging than he was talking about, though most of his tactics were more effective on tabloid reporters than one guy who didn't seem to be trying to draw out the right blade to cut him with. Tony still fixed him with a dubious sidelong look and did his best not to betray too much anxious tension in the way he flicked a careless hand, tighter and closer to his chest than his typical bold gesturing. "You're going to have to let me know how much hellfire is in there," he said, "when he figures out you're the one stealing from him."

Stealing from him? Eddie frowned, and then there was momentary recognition in his eyes before he tried to cover with an innocent head tilt. It didn't work so well immediately following that wide eyed look.

"...Stealing?" he repeated, "What am I supposed to have stolen?" At least he had that part down well enough. Don't verbally acknowledge the supposed theft, no matter what kind of evidence they have against you.

One of the assets of a good DM was how expressive they were. It wasn't such a glowing trait in a criminal mastermind. Tony's eyes widened with Eddie's, then crinkled in a snort of a laugh before Tony was mercifully turning back to his coffee. "Why no, officer, I've never seen those cameras in my life, so I'm certain they haven't seen me," he lilted, adopting an accent that was definitely more transatlantic than midwestern. He had his weaknesses, too.

Snorting at that accent, Eddie gave a toothy grin. "You have fucking cameras in there? Where else are you spying on us, hmm?" he laughed, pointedly looking around the kitchen.

"Look, the aliens told me to find a cassette player at the library, it's their fault."

Loftily and with a delicate hand to his heart, Tony defended, "I think I have a right to install cameras to protect my home from thieves and miscreants." It didn't seem quite so defensible a position as he tried to add in the same tone, "And some other places." Someone had to be watching, and there was no better choice than him.

He rounded on Eddie with a skeptically raised lip and narrowed eyes, not sure he believed that story in the first place, but he definitely didn't believe, "And they told you to tiptoe in and tuck it into your jacket when you did?"

"...That...was a personal choice," Eddie admitted with a small laugh. The place kind of gave him the creeps, and yeah...he probably should have asked. But it was a library, wasn't it? Not that the Hawkins Library would've liked it if he came sneaking in and putting books in his jacket either.

"No one was using them..."

They both knew that was a poor defence, and Tony gave Eddie the chance to perhaps revise it with a narrow look before accepting, "I'll keep that in mind during the campaign." That did open up a whole world of pilfering opportunities to an otherwise lawful paladin, and some vengeful god would have to work extra hard to slow down a character like that.
