[ So by now the Power's gone out and that's... not ideal. It's especially bad for the hospital thought that seems to be the least of the hospitals concerns for the moment- not that Ash is aware of it. ]

Everyone keeps asking me that-and I guess the best way to describe them is they're a lot like the animals here but Pokémon are classified by their different types based of the special attacks they can learn.

Thunderbolt is usually learned by an electric type, Flame Thrower a fire type, Razor Leaf by a grass type and so forth and so on.

Huh. Kinda makes me think of the Lions back home, since some of them have those kind of...elemental, I guess you could call them, attacks. But animals in your world can do the same? That's kind of awesome, though kinda scary too. I'm already terrified of the chickens in my family's backyard when they chase me. Don't even want to think of what they'd be like if they could shoot a flamethrower at me too.

Nah, Pokemon aren't scary. Just be nice to them and they'll be nice to you. Although, there are some that are really territorial and don't like humans much.

...what's a chicken?

They're like... [How to explain.] Birds, but they can't really fly like most other birds, just short distances. 'bout a foot or two high. People eat them or the eggs they lay. My family back in Cuba has a few farm animals, including chickens, and they had some weird vendetta against me.

[ Ash frowns because he really doesn't like the idea of eating anything he could be friends with but things are so different here. Personally, he's vowed to keep to fruits, berries, and vegetables. ]

Maybe they don't want to get eaten.

I mean, I don't blame 'em. But we didn't eat the chickens we kept at the house! They were friends! Well, friends to everyone else. Mortal enemies to me.

Maybe they didn't trust you for some reason. Pikachu didn't always trust me but once he understood how much I cared, he warmed up to me really quick and we've been best friends ever since.

Awww... I mean, I tried to be nice to them. I have noooo idea why they always had it out for me in particular. Little pain in the asses probably would've taken my eyes out if I didn't manage to pawn off egg gathering duties onto one of my sisters.

[He huffs, but there's a little smile in there, too. Fond memories, really.]
