So, um... I know Shiro's the type to make a lot of friends, so... yeah.

I um. Shiro's not here anymore. I figured I should let people know. [Keith rubbed the back of his neck. It was one thing to make big important speeches and stuff when it really counted, but this was really personal for him, and a big sore point in his life for a variety of reasons. It was harder to separate himself enough to keep his composure.]

So, yeah. Sorry.

Yeah... [Keith said that as part of a sigh.] I hope he does, too. [Granted, from what Keith had been able to learn, things seemed like they'd be okay? But Shiro had been from his future, and he wasn't exactly sure. He knew Shiro well enough to know that he'd try to protect him from things that might have been bad.] I mean... better he's home, I guess? It's not like they know we're missing back home, so... [He rubbed his hand roughly through his hair.]

Indeed. But I'm sure we can offer our hopes that he will manage a happy life.

[His history seemed to imply it would be hard for him, though.]

[Keith nodded.]

Yeah. I always do. Shiro's... he's the closest person I have to a brother, so... I just want him be happy.

[Oh dear. She offers a soft, sad smile.]

I am sorry you have lost him, but I am also glad he will get to seek his happiness. He did not seem to have it here.

I mean, with some of the stuff going on, that's not hard to believe. I've been around in these types of places so long now, I guess I've made my own. But, he hadn't been here as long this time.

[Implying that Keith had seen him in one of the alternate realms before.]

[Well, that's a whole thing isn't it?]

At least you still have friends here, right?

I have Lance, yeah. As far as people from back home, anyway. And I've made other friends, so it's not too bad, I guess.

[Still, he'd lost Shiro so many times in various ways, and had come close several times to really losing him that it was kind of a knee-jerk reaction to emotionally panic each time it happened. He knew it wasn't that kind of loss in a place like this, but it was hard to fight down that initial visceral reaction.]

It's still hard, though.

It might never be easy to have those we love away from us. But if he might be happier, then I shall be happy for my young friend.

[She offers a smile to Keith.]

I was making him a blanket. Might I give it as a gift to you and your husband?

[That got a small smile in response, and Keith nodded.]

Yeah. Thanks. I'd like that. Lance, too. Shiro's important to both of us. He'll appreciate it, too.

[Radley is sorry to hear this. Shiro had been the one he had gotten along with best on his ship. And he remembers Shiro mentioning Keith, so he knows Keith must be feeling pretty down now.]

Hey, I'm sorry too. I know that must be rough on you. Thanks for letting us know.

Yeah. Sure. [Keith's response was quiet. He wasn't good at talking about feelings.] He's really good at making friends, so... I figured... there were people who'd want to know. [Yeah, he was being repetitive, but he wasn't sure what else to say.]

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, there are. Well ... I know we don't know each other much, but if you wanna talk, I'm a good listener.

[He doubts Keith would want to, but he feels he should offer.]

[tempredmental]

Ah... heh... [Keith shook his head a little.] Thanks, but... I'm not really good at it.

[crystalmaster]

I get that. I've known some people who aren't.

[tempredmental]

[Keith nodded.] Yeah.

[Even at his best moments, Keith wasn't a big talker. It was rare that he would say a lot. But, this? This was definitely not a best moment.]

Sure.

[Keith nodded again, making a genuine attempt at a smile, but failing miserably, and then signed off if there was nothing else.]
