Did someone lose their pet cat? I just saw one walking around and I've never seen them before. I

I tried to go after them but they went around a corner and seemed to disappear. I don't them out in the cold! They're a black cat with... yellow eyes I think? Kind of like mine actually. If they're not someone's pet, maybe someone could help me get them to my hotel room? It is warm in there.

I don't know what an earth cat is. I'm guessing the same kind that Thedas has? They're not mothcats, no. I saw them around the hotel but I lost them when I went around the corner after them.

Mainly, they don't have wings. Or antennae. Or bright coloring. Thedas? Is that another person here? I stay at the hotel. I'll come down and look around.

No, Thedas is the land that I come from. It has smaller countries, like The Tevinter Imperium and Orlais in it.

You're welcome to look for them too. All the other animals it seems have a warm place to stay. I want the same for them too.

I want to search for them, but I'm worried we might scare them off more. What do cats eat? Fish? Meat? Maybe we could lure the cat to us with food?

That can definitely work. Do you have some? I can bring some if you don't.

No, I don't have any. The diner might have some? I think I have an extra blanket we can put on the ground to put the food on. Make it more enticing for them, do you think that would be good?

Yeah, the diner definitely has some. I have some here too, so I can just bring it down. The blanket sounds great!

I'm on my way back to the hotel, so I'll go up to my room really quick and get one down. I'll fold it and put it outside, if you want to meet there? Maybe we can at least look around for them, hopefully in a way that won't scare them off.

That would be Salem. He can be rather testy around strangers. Or even those familiar with him. I would offer him some warmth and shelter with me, but of course he will not get on with Little Bear.

Perhaps if you would be willing to watch Little Bear today, I could give him some shelter. All it would take is the sacrifice of some yarn.

Salem! That is a good name. Yes, if he and Little Bear would not get along... best not to. I'm sure we can find a warm place for him in the hotel where Little Bear cannot get to?

If that'll help, I can take Little Bear into my room for awhile. I'm sure he'll be glad for more cuddles. I promise not to feed him too many treats...

I cannot comment on the quality of the name, just note that it is his. And he has made it clear he would not like Little Bear, even if Bear would like him.

I do not doubt something could be arranged, if there was a way for him to easily get through doors. That will be some work we shall have to ask someone for help with. More doors friendly to his coming and going. I’m not certain how to do that. Back home we would just leave the door open for Little Bear to come and go as needed when it was not too cold.

But yes, it would help. And you know Little Bear would like the cuddling enough that he might not want to come home.

Maybe cat doors? I remember seeing a house in Tevinter that had one for their dog, but this one could be smaller for Salem maybe? Little doors just for him. And any other cats that come to the city.

I do know! Little Bear gives excellent cuddles and he is very warm. At least he'd be out of trouble doing that and not looking for Salem. :)

I do not believe Littler Bear would seek Salem for anything but curiosity and cuddles. But Salem will not tolerate it. He's already made that clear.

If the door is small enough, only Salem could get through and not Little Bear. Or, that's how I picture it in my head. I think Salem would like it.

I guess that's fair. I won't press for Salem to meet Little Bear. Just quietly think he's missing out on him. I'm heading back to the hotel for one of my extra blankets to at least set out for Salem if he comes by the hotel and wants something soft and maybe dry to lay on at least.

That seems a very reasonable conclusion to come to. We shall have to entreat our capable friends to see who might be able to do such work.

...I don't think that cats should eat pizza. Maybe a fish though? If they like fish that is. Do cats usually eat fish? I thought they just ate meat in general, like birds or rodents?

My sister’s beast did. But Chewie also really liked fish. I shall go find a fish. A big one from the sea! I hope this one likes sea fish.

Chewie. That's a good name for a cat I think. If you go to fish for one, maybe Noctis can help! He is good at fishing and helped me gather things before the snow came. Do you do a lot of fishing, Lauri-El?

Chewie is a very good beast, yes. But I shall definitely seek Noctis, to acquire help for getting fish for the beast.

Huh. For some reason I figured you'd know how to fish but I don't know why. Well, I don't know how to fish either. I have an extra blanket, do you think that would work to entice the cat if we put the food on it? It might not be warm, but it would be dry? And soft!

Oh? They are a 'he'? Have you interacted with him yet? I don't know what any of that is, but it can probably be healed. Do you know what the cat's name is?

Ulp...uh...Just a guess, most cats are 'he's, statistically, it's a political thing. I don't think you can heal rabies, and nobody's tried with the punitis because it's too annoying to be near the patients. Save yourself!

Cats are politics now? That's weird. I thought politics were mage related and country lines and wars and such.

I just want to make sure the cat has a place that's warm to sleep. It's really cold outside, like Haven, but without a tavern and fireplace. But I have heat in my room! And a lot of blankets.

What is punitis anyways? Sounds like a weird spell.

Cats have their own politics, with plenty of wars, too. Though a lot of them would put their differences aside for a fireplace and some blankets...

More like it makes spells go weird. Makes them too literal, can't say anything without making a mess. Have you been casting any weird spells lately?

I can only cast fire right now, but I can't control it as well as I want. I've been trying to practice. I don't even think I need to say words to make the magic happen. Are you a magical cat being?

I am not at liberty to disclose the status of my magical or cat or being. I do know a lot, though. I might be willing to tell you more about the cat, in exchange for an anchovy pizza and a doorway to the Other Realm.

The mothcats are strange, but I like them. They make me think of something I would find in the Fade other mages talked about at home. I know the mothcats live in the library where it's warm. I just want the one that I saw to have a warm place to go to because it's so cold out! This is only my second winter here and I still haven't gotten used to it.

Nooo, kitty! It's way too cold for them to be out and about like this if they're not built for the weather! They're not part of me and Keith's zoo, so... I have no idea. I'm gonna keep an eye out for them, I'll bring 'em over if I spot them.

They look like a regular black cat. you don't have to bring them to me, just as long as they get to someplace warm is enough. It's very cold out and maybe they're like me where they're only used to warm places.

Um, it's like... A place where they have a lot of different animals you can go see. A lot of them take care of animals that can't survive on their own in the wild, or have programs to help endangered species and stuff.

[There's some bad zoos that aren't so charitable, of course, but now isn't the time and place to rant about that.]

Keith and I have a bunch of pets, so I joke that it's kinda like a zoo here. And alrighty, I'll definitely do that. Don't wanna let any cute furballs freeze.
