In this town we call home
WHO: Lerith
mutedsuspicions & Noctis
fatedsacrifice
WHERE: Around Temba
WHAT: Harvesting
WHEN: Well before the storm
WARNINGS: N/A
The weather was turning a little cooler and Noctis decided to get outside. So he started wandering because he wasn't busy fishing or hunting at the moment. While out, he had seen quite a few plants that were ready to harvest. So today found him looking at the different ones, deciding which ones he was going to take back home because there was a Shield to feed.
Kneeling down, he reached a hand out and looked at one of the plants that had quite a harvest ready. "Guess it's a damn good thing I took Agriculture." He'd taken it because food and the king was definitely a fan of food.
"Only problem now is that I just gotta figure out how I'm gonna get it home."

Even though Temba isn't Thedas, Lerith knows that things will be ripe for picking and they could be used at the diner! So he's hunting about and using his old scarf to carry what he can find. What he finds is surprising because it's not herbs or plants to harvest, but Noctis!
The elf grins and snaps his fingers to let the other know he's there, then fishes out his communicator to have it speak for him.
'You won't find fish here, Noctis!' Jon's voice speaks for him.
no subject
This is just him being a concerned friend.
And then he noticed the scarf so he nodded. "Guess you're out here for the same reason."
no subject
Lerith makes his way over to Noctis' side to squat down next to him. The scarf is opened in offering, then set down so he can type so Jon can speak for him. 'We can share my old scarf to bring in what we harvest. If there's more than the scarf can handle, we can use my new one Miss Lark gave me,' and he indicates it with a pointed finger.

Once Lerith was next to him, and explained what he was doing, he smiled. "That should be a good start." He did look at the scarf indicated and smiled. "I'm sure they'll both come in handy."
So the king nodded. "Let's get started."
no subject
'Are you looking for anything in particular?' His hands carefully move through the foliage, looking for anything that looked like it had some potential. Some are picked and dropped onto the scarf.

He didn't want to mention the part about where he'd be using his own magic to help, and he hoped it still worked. That was something he hadn't tried because there weren't any stores of spells in the rocks here. But if he could still somehow infuse his own magic to make the potions more potent to help others out, he'd do it. It would give him more of a purpose to be here along with the fishing and hunting he already did.
But Lerith's words shook him out of those thoughts.
"Uh no nothing in particular, just food really."
no subject
Hm. Maybe he should take on the medicine data whenever he was done with the plants learning. He could possibly take notes, use the point, and then use what he had to make potions!
'There's plants for food in the house of greens, but there should be more space for others if we can find seeds. Do you grow weary of what Tommy makes in the dinner?'
no subject
But at the question, he smiled. "I'm learning from someone how to cook on my own." That gave him a thought. "Do you know how to do that?"
no subject
He tilts his head at the question. 'I'm not much of a cook. I can roast meat and that's about it. Everything else I at home I would just get from the tavern. Which I suppose is what the diner is here. Who is teaching you to cook?'
no subject
Listening to Lerith talk about roasting meat made him hungry. He was about to ask if Lerith could teach him to roast meat because he knew he and Gladio would appreciate that one. But at the question, he smiled.
"A guy named Radley. I've told him that he needs to teach classes. I can only hope the guy took me seriously."
no subject
He picks some more to add to the old scarf he had once used, and sits back. 'I don't think I have met them yet. I am guessing they are a nice person?' He thinks of others who were nice that had been sent home. It still mentally stung, knowing they got to go back home and Lerith was still stuck here, but he kept it from showing on his face. 'Why do you think he wouldn't take you seriously?'
no subject
Regarding Radley, the king nodded. "He's a really great guy and he's a pretty patient teacher. I think you'd like him." Noctis couldn't imagine Lerith not getting along with anyone really, but that was his own personal opinion. But at the last part, he shrugged. "He said he'd consider it, but saying things and doing things might be different."
no subject
'I wonder if I could trade signing lessons for cooking lessons.' More things get added to his pile in the scarf. The mute wonders if Noctist meant to disregard his question about why Radley wouldn't take him seriously. Maybe it was something the man didn't want to talk about? If there were things that the mute couldn't talk about, surely there were topics for humans, too.
He shrugs at the remark. 'Maybe if the people that keep us here stop giving us things to do, like going to other worlds or dealing with plants, he'll do the actual teaching?'
no subject
There was a smile. "Now there's a thought." Noct would offer to help pay the bill in food but he figured Lerith would turn him down and that wasn't something he wanted. But if it came up, he'd offer.
Noct nodded. "You know, setting up to be a teacher would suit you. But I'm sure Radley will say yes. He has the patience like you do to do it."
no subject
'I have actually been meaning to start up a class to teach others Sign. More people here know it than I would have thought, but it would be nice not to have to use this thing to talk to others.' Granted, the elf was accustomed to it at home, though with ink and a journal, instead of a device that could actually speak for him. He blinks at the remark.
'Do you think teaching would be good for me? I'm... so skittish I don't know if it would be good as a full job. I thought of being something herbal or potion making related at home at one point.'
no subject
The only possible exception was Reeve but that wasn't going to get a voice.
At the last part he nodded. "You can be my teacher for herbal stuff. I'd be happy to learn."
no subject
He would have to review what he knew at some point.
'On the topic of teaching, maybe I could teach a small amount of people to get a good grasp of it, and to help with teaching a bigger amount of people?'

His magic still worked, he could feel it. And he did have swords in his Armiger too so it wasn't like it was gone from him. He laughed a little. "Can't say healing ever interested me."
The king then looked at Lerith and nodded. "It's your call, I just think you have the temperament for it."
