Teenage Mutant Ninja Pet Care~

WHO: Catra, Tony, Jon
WHERE: Forge, Library
WHAT: Catra's found a pet of sorts?
WHEN: Mid/late month
WARNINGS: TBD

There was something about the creature Catra had found...intriguing. She couldn't really say what it was. It was slow, and strange, and green. It didn't really do much of anything, but Catra was strange enamored with it. It had been far too easy to pick the thing up and take it home with her, though she didn't really know how exactly to care for the thing. It looked a bit like a turtle, not that she knew how to care for one of those. She tried feeding it what she ate, learning mostly through trial and error, and luckily for the creature her inexperience hadn't killed it yet. It had made a few daring escape attempts, but much like its earth counterpart it was slow, and these mostly amounted to crawling a few feet before being scooped up and returned to the box Catra had prepared for it.

Tony

She had carried said box along with her to the Forge, letting herself in through some still undisclosed means she seemed to have that had her climbing down from above rather than bother with Tony's strange locked door. It let her curl up by the heat whenever she liked, and so far Tony hadn't blocked it off. Perhaps he knew it was pointless to try and deter a cat, she would just find some other way.

But today she wanted to speak with Tony, and not just doze in his warm space, abruptly dropping in and setting her box on one of his tables as if she owned the place.

"What was the Turtle's actual name?" she asked without any lead in.

Jon

Next, box under arm, Catra made her way through the library. Which had become difficult as there were new moth kittens to contend with, along with the grown ones. They rubbed against her legs, and flew about, leaving her to slowly weave her way about, giving a few frustrated hisses that only gave her a few moments peace before she was accosted again.

By the time she found Jon she was clearly annoyed, tail bristling and swaying back and forth. The moth kittens saw it as a lovely new toy, and it had been chewed on more times than she could count.

"They are monsters, Jon," she grumbled, "Tiny monsters."
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (This is all the smile you get.)

"Nice to see you as well, Catra." Jon greets in return, setting down his pen with which he has been taking down some notes into one of his notebooks, the Countess curled up contently on his desk, her head raised curiously as she contemplates Catra. Though the older mothcat isn't bothering to join the play - Or stop the younger felines.

"They seem rather fond of you." The Archivist observes further, then inclines his head slightly. "How can I help you?"

The Countess is the first to peek into the box, eyeing its content first before giving it a curious sniff while Jon leans over as well, brows raised.

"Oh..." He said, blinking twice at the animal. "Have you tried offering fruits or grass to it? It looks more like a tortoise than a turtle and at least back on Earth those tend to be herbivores. Turtles, on the other hand, tend to be omnivores. Easiest way to find out is simply offering something." Jon suggests. Meanwhile the adult mothcat has reached a curious paw inside the box to nudge the creature inside.

A lot of he general experience of Catra reminded Tony of Logan. She was not very tall, and surly, and consistently smelled faintly like damp animal, and generally was more than happy to make use of Tony's space as long as she didn't actually have to deal with him very often. Outside of that, like Logan, she could be something of an enigma. When she did want something, it was very difficult to anticipate what it was. It didn't make any more or less sense to Tony than usual, then, that she seemed to have taken an interest in riddles.

He didn't make any immediate move to respond, tongue between his teeth and contorted in a deep bow over his desk where he was slowly soldering a component together until he was quite done, and even then hadn't produced an answer for Catra that he was entirely satisfied with. When he did sit up, setting his tools aside and pushing his glasses up into his hair, wincing with a painful pang of protest from his curled up back as he tried to stretch it, he gave Catra a dubious frown, like he was wondering if she was sure this was the question she meant to ask. Usually a riddle had at least one other clue.

"Animal taxonomy is not really my thing," he eventually had to admit. "Shellus tortosis?"

The last thing that Tony expected to see in this box that Catra was carrying around was something alive, and for a moment, as he leaned over with raised brows to peer into this offering, it did fully meet expectations in its stillness. It was only when the animal blinked and curiously raised its head that Tony flinched with surprise, frozen then in his curious lean, lip raised with some discomfort at Catra.

"Have you tried kissing him?" he suggested. If Catra meant to imply that this creature and the mutant were one and the same, then Tony doubted simply saying his name would be enough to break whatever awful spell had been cast on him. Tony had enough experience being bewitched like that to know it wasn't so easy.
