[Event] Act 1 - Into The Woods

WHERE: From the hangar to the hotel
WHAT: Ami has to return to her hotel room to fetch something incredibly important to her. Unfortunately, there's a whole lot of plant matter between here and there.
WHEN: August 11
WARNINGS: Potential blood, definite adventure



As entertaining and full of life as Eorzea had been, Ami had some regrets for her sudden departure. The thought of returning to Agri 10, however, did come with the relief that she could simply resume her attempts at studies and making more friends on the alien planet. And, of course, have her one remaining link to her own home world back. She spent the journey back watching out the window as one planet receded into the distance, and another did the reverse.

Seeing the state of Temba upon arrival, however, did give her pause and she had to adjust in her seat to make sure she wasn't seeing things. "There weren't that many plants visible from the surface when we left, were there?" Ga Re's warning, the state of the hangar, watching the vines actually growing over the hangar roof? Yes, she definitely needed to get back to her hotel room. This was going to require a kind of gardening that was beyond the abilities of the young schoolgirl. There was one complication: That said schoolgirl was going to have to return to her hotel room first.

So it was that a rather anxious Ami dashed out of the Twin Roses, her wide-eyed pleading look going from one He Row to the next. "I- I need to return to my hotel room. Now, before dark. There's something important I need in there. I can't do it alone, it's dangerous out there. Can someone help me?"

The school girl turned to her fellow new traveler, "Its not too far, I think?" She had her datapad in hand and was already thumbing through the map of Temba. "We have to get to the center of town from here in the northeast corner. But if the plants are everywhere and growing?" That was the problem and what brought Ami's wide blue eyes to him, "How good are you at clearing weeds?"

"Pretty good when it comes to regular garden weeds," he said. "I grow roses. But this ... !" He gestured outside. "This is a whole new level! Does anyone here know how to fight plants that want to fight back?!" He somewhat doubted it. But they apparently had to start learning now.

Ami was rather dejected at that. The nice man was friendly, but she absolutely needed someone who could help. "Maybe if we could find something here that could help us keep the overgrowth at bay?", the girl offered. Her brow furrowed for a moment in thought, "Put some sort of weapon together ourselves?"

"Yeah, that's what I was hoping to find," he said. "Maybe an old sword or something?"

He walked to some junk and started poking around.

Ami's mind had been working towards something more MacGyver-ish, given the right chemicals and a proper dispenser. That would, however, require knowing what chemicals they had. A sigh at science failing her, and she joined Radley in poking about the junk, "Something with a sharp edge you could use as a machete?"

"Yeah, exactly!" Radley poked some more and found a rusted blade. He started to pull it out. "Maybe this would still work...."

There's a hesitant nod as the girl withdrew a step, "Be careful with that, you might catch tetanus!" Is tetanus even a thing from wherever he came from? Where did he come from, Ami now realized. He wasn't with them when they boarded, was he? Or was she too busy being a wilted flower to notice?

"Don't worry, I don't have any intention of getting cut by it!" Radley said. "I wonder if there's anything we can use to clean off the rust...." He glanced around the hangar.

Ami had an idea on how to clean it, at least from what she recalled from her chemical studies. However, as she surveyed the rest of the hangar and the relative lack of items inside. "I don't think there's anything here to clean it off with." So many limited choices, she thought before something caught her attention. "But there is water inside the ships?"

"There sure is, thankfully," Radley said. "Do you know what to do?"

"If I had the right chemicals, I could come up with a proper solution to dissolve the rust. The acids would be dangerous but..." There's a rather awkward shuffle at that, noting that maybe not everyone else appreciates her science nerdery. "We can simply was it off for now."

[crystalmaster]

"... I've heard vinegar can dissolve rust," Radley offers. "But I think it has to soak a long time for that, and we probably need to hurry."

He's a little surprised at her science know-how, but he's cool with it.

"I'm not even sure we had vinegar on the ships, but you're right. We do have to hurry!" There's a hesitant glance given outside, "I'll do what I can to help, I'm not that strong but I am very observant!" Yes, that should work. Radley can scythe and Ami can scream 'Watch out!'

Its perhaps not the best plan, but her options were really limited right now.

"Okay. So we'll wash it and get going. Your ship or mine?" Radley glances back at them.

"We can do my ship!" With that, Ami leads him inside the Twin Roses. "You're new here too, aren't you?"

[crystalmaster]

Radley is just as happy to get away from certain people on his ship. "Yeah, I suddenly woke up onboard right before the ships came back here," he sighed.

That brought a pause from the girl. "You were brought aboard the ship? I wasn't aware they could do that." Don't 'He Rows' arrive at the fountain? Hmm. Still, she led him towards the shower. Hopefly no one minds they make a little mess in there!

"They sure did in my case," Radley grimaced.

He followed her into the shower and turned on the water, holding the blade under it. "Is there a cloth or something I can use to scrape at this?"

Ami was already prepared with a washcloth as well as a towel and offered the former over. "There's washers and dryers here, I can take care of that once you've cleaned it up." Even stuck on an alien planet, it paid to be polite and proper.

"Oh great. Thanks!" Radley started scrubbing at the rust. "Yeah, I'm glad at least there's modern amenities here. It would be even harder to get used to being here if we were roughing it."

He was still so worried about his friends back home and how they would be worrying about him. He hoped maybe time was standing still back there. No one seemed to know for sure.

He'll find his companion watching him studiously, a curious cant to her gaze. That's Ami, always ready to learn something new, even if it's cleaning a rusty sword. Never know when that could come in handy! "On the ships, yes. Outside, I don't believe there are as much." Her mind returned to her 'hotel room' and how unlike the hotels she was used to.

She too was worried about her own friends, and certainly if they were worried about her. Still, Ami was confident if anyone would find a way to bring her back, it was Sailor Moon!

Seeing her watching, he said, "Years ago, I helped my friends make motorcycles from scrap. We had to clean a lot of rust. Of course, we had better equipment for it then."

He sighed in frustration at this news. "... Does anyone live on the ships?" The way things go, probably not.

Her curiosity is further aroused at that reveal, a brow lofted before she answered. "I don't know, I arrived just before we left for Eorzea." A moment to gather her courage before asking, "We never introduced ourselves. My name is Ami Mizuno, and I'm from Tokyo. Where are you from?"

Another relative newcomer then.... He wondered how many people had come without really getting to adjust to things before being thrust into adventure.

He smiled. "I'm Radley. I live in the United States. I was in a small town I was helping build up."

Let's just say, of all the arrivals, Ami may be one of the better prepared for weirdness.

"Oh, you're from America!" said as her expression lit up. At least they were from the same planet, perhaps! That he was good with a blade, well, it was America after all. "I was afraid that weren't many of us from Earth around."
