[Keith had kind of been keeping to himself recently. There wasn't a particular reason for it. He'd just been feeling like being a bit of a hermit. Not that Lance seemed to mind since that meant they were spending more time together in their current residence... which was something they were working on changing with some of the exploring he'd been doing. But, still... Sometimes, introverts needed to introvert, and Keith had been in that kind of mood.

Either way, he was doing more things outside again. Checking some of the buildings to see if he could find a good one for him and Lance to use for a home. Poking at the ships in the hangar again, even if they hadn't really been going much of anywhere unless someone wanted to move between the cities without using the train. Keeping up his workout and training with Kosmo.

It wasn't a whole lot, but it kept him busy, and it kept him from backsliding too much...]

[Does he think that? Reeve takes a moment to think. It's better to think and consider because this answer might well affect how the man sees his place here.]

I think, on some level, there was an intention of purpose. But the Agrii clearly do not have as much... forethought as they would like us to believe. Or perhaps we would like to think that they would like us to believe. But whether intention or not was in it, they brought me here, and if there is one thing I've known how to do, it's build places for people to live. Sadly it's been slow for me because, well, I cannot do it alone.

[Keith nodded.]

I mean, I would hope there's some grand design or something that they've got going on and that it's not just some random thing where they think someone can help and hope they can help, but aren't really sure. [He sighed softly.] Either way, I guess that makes sense. If you know what your talents are, might as well figure out a way to use them in the best way.

[He looked back at the building before him, a thoughtful expression on his face.]

There's a lot of these places... half run down and all that. Gotta wonder... is it worth trying to fix them or should we just move to tear them down and rebuild from whatever we can salvage?

If I had more people I would have a more serious answer. As it is, I can only advise on a case by case basis. That’s what I did with Cobb when we were refurbishing the buildings to the south for people.

[Keith considered that.]

I'm not exactly an engineer, but... I mean, I could help? [He was strong, agile, and had a good eye for detail.]

[It's an idea, even if they don't have tools. Reeve considers it thoughtfully.]

It's not all easy to learn, but if you are willing, I could use another set of hands, or three.

[Keith nodded and then put his hands up.]

I only have one set myself.

[He was also only half joking.]

Yes, but they look like capable ones.

[And if he wants that home, it could help.]

Capable enough, I guess. And, well, if Lance likes the place, too, he'd be another set. A whiny set, but still hardworking and determined.

[Keith loved his fiancé, but, boy, could the Blue Paladin whine when he got cranky and tired.]

Whiny, huh? Well, I can work with that. People can learn. And learning helps us grow.

[Keith nodded, laughing a little.]

Honestly, he's more talk than anything else. Considering it'll be for him and me to live in together, the whining will likely be mostly for show and he'll do what needs to be done.

[Keith glanced around.]

This place doesn't seem all that terrible, honestly. Might have a shot on getting it into livable condition pretty well.

[Well, that's a point. Reeve considers.]

My records say it's structurally sound. But how about we go in and look it over? To be certain.

[Keith nodded.]

Yeah. Things change around here pretty fast sometimes, so it could be in different shape than the last time it was checked anyway.

[Kosmo wagged his tail as Keith stepped forward to check the door. It opened, and nothing fell down, so that was already a good sign, right? He stepped inside, wolf following behind.]

[Reeve was content to step in after him, immediately moving to inspect what he knew to be load bearing walls.]

Seems good for the moment.

Doesn't look like there's any immediately visible mold growth. [Though, that would be something to check for in the less immediately accessible places, too.] It might not be a bad idea to temporarily switch specialties. [Keith hadn't switched away from pilot ever since he first found the data point in the hangar after it first opened. He'd started with medical. But, using the engineering one to make sure his potential future house was fixed up right didn't seem like a bad idea the more he considered it.

He moved around carefully, making sure the floor was stable as he walked. He was a little nervous about turning anything on like electric or checking if the water was running just, yet. He wanted to make sure those things weren't going to cause a sudden disaster if he activated the wrong thing and broke something.]

[See, Reeve was a lot less scared about testing. He turns on the lights, still effective. He nods in appreciation. Then he goes to test the water. Running. A relief. Those are the harder things.]

Yes, this might fix up quite well.

[Keith nodded, watching as Reeve went ahead and did the thing that he'd been more cautious about... but having power and running water were definitely a good bonus. Those were hard things to fix, honestly, so two major problems not being problems after all was a good sign.]

Yeah... I think it will.

[The important loadbearing parts of the structure seemed to be solid and intact. It was a decent sized place where Lance could host parties if he wanted. Most of the other internal stuff could be easily reconfigured at this point to suit what they needed. But, the important staples were there, working, and that was a good start. It wasn't quite move-in ready, but not much was around here.]

[He doesn't feel like he's good at most things. But this? This he's good at.]

[Keith nodded.]

I'm gonna go see if Lance wants to take a look, too. I can give you a call when we're ready to start working on it?

I shall do so. In the mean time, Mini and I shall see about doing a full work up of the basic things that will need done to get this place comfortable enough to furnish.

[Keith gave Reeve a quick smile in thanks and then headed out, making a mental note of where the place was by giving a good look around as he went to find Lance.]

[Reeve spared the young man little more than a passing wave before he moved further into the space, offering his comm-pad out to Mini so the doll could take notes while Reeve was working up a list of things to do for Keith and Lance.]
