Oh Yes, I'm Goin' To The Hardware Store
WHO: Reno and any and all of you wonderful people. (Yes, even you, York.)
WHERE: Her new workshop in southeast Temba (Orange 8)
WHAT: The resident cruiser opens up her new workshop to the public!
WHEN: Mid-July
WARNINGS: N/A
Reno had been created for a purpose. A purpose she was rather no longer entirely needed for, nor did she have the ammo or vast expanse of unfriendly oceans to effectively use them on. While she had taken Lauri's suggestion to pick up the security datapoint and now could properly be a sidekick again, it wasn't the same if there wasn't much to sidekick about.
Fortunately, she had a particular set of skills she had picked up whlie with the Eagle Union. So it was that, after her initial explorations, she decided to establish herself a 'home port' and offer those skills up to her fellow exiles here.
So it was, some time later, that there were hastily scrawled flyers left about Temba:
RENO INDUSTRIES
Tailoring, crafting, welding, lighting
More than just cosplay
We Can Do It!
Southeast Side Strip Mall
Visitors to said 'strip mall' will find the storefront now adorned with 'RENO INDUSTRIES' hastily painted up top. Inside is a small orderly mess of assorted fabrics, plastics, and sheets of metal that's she scavenged so far from across the city. A workbench has been set up, along with some well-worn basic tools that she's also managed to find. Already she looks to be hammering out what appears to be a shield of some sort, a sign nearby labeled 'Example Work In Progress!'
Reno herself isn't out front, though one can hear singing from the back. "Go Go Power Rangers, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangeeeeeeers o/~"

...granted there's like, two roads and a lake in between them but hey! Same area as the bar, roughly!
Cayde has to grin as he sees the painted name across the storefront, undoubtedly enthusiastically done. Really, there's no chance it wasn't. The girl had even put out flyers! Man, he wished he'd have thought of flyers when he made the bar, but he went for the cool internet route.
"Heehee, this already looks promising," the Exo says, glancing down at the hen tucked in the crook of his arm. "Sounds like she's in, anyway."
He takes his time in wandering the shop, looking at all the things Reno's managed to gather up. It's an impressive collection to be sure. Eventually he makes his way towards the back area that Reno seems to be.
"Helloooo? Anyone home?"
no subject
"I have been thinking of both of you," said as she hurried over to a pile of brown leathers. "I tried to find something that might look like it'll match your hood." What might have been a sleeve once is held up, "All I need now is measurements, and maybe scratch down that pattern on the side if you'd like! I might be able to find some dyes and a brush!"
no subject
"Got your flyer, so of course we hadda come see. Looks like a fun little place you got here!" He follows Reno eagerly, studying the piece of material she holds. "Well then, that shouldn't be a problem at all. Colonel, I'm gonna put you down for a bit, all right?"
The chicken is set on an empty area of the workspace, not bothered in the least as she merely fusses at some feathers.
no subject
With that, cautiously and surprisingly quietly, she measures out the length and height and width of the chicken's head. All measurements are written down, its not real science unless you do! "While you're both here, is there anything else I can do for either of you?" A nod is given toward Cayde, "You might be a little more advanced than what I'm used to, but I still can do some basic stuff!"
no subject
"Me? Don't you worry 'bout me, I'm good. But..." He thinks, then brings out the scrawled out flyer, tapping at the words. "What's this about lighting?"
no subject

"I can always do for more mood lighting though. You been there yet? I know I wanted rustic but it can get pretty dark in there sometimes! Most of the light is coming from the windows and that's all filtered through water. But I would especially love some fancy lighting for my stock shelf behind the bar. ...maybe I should upgrade the shelf too, it's kinda lopsided but I'll admit, I am no carpenter."

"Ooh, I like the look of this," he says as he reaches in to pick out a blue-green light. "I think it'd go great with the whole underwater theme. Oh, oh! How about like...under the edge of the bar counter- uh...underlighting?" He paws through the box. "Maybe mix it up a tiny bit for the backlighting of the shelf- just not too much..."

He's glad to hear that his bar's getting some use even when he's not around, but he'd never meant to do fulltime maintenance. "Oh yeah? That'll explain why some of my stock is low..." He smirks. Cupping his chin in a palm, he's happy to wait and see what Reno's thought of then as she digs around and pulls out a couple more lights.
"That's a fine idea!" He might also be a bit partial to the colors, given that they practically mirror his eyes and the light that spills from his throat every time he opens his mouth.

A thought. "Do you have those little umbrellas from cocktail drinks? Maybe we could decorate it with a few of those!"
no subject
Cayde almost makes a face at the thought of his bar being 'cute'. He wants to be chic! Well okay, maybe not exactly. He smiles lopsidedly, shaking his head. "Alas! I do not. And as amazingly crafty as Tony is I don't know if he'd ever forgive me if I asked him to make dozens of tiny paper umbrellas."

"Yeah, true. I don't think the drinks themselves need to look all that fancy though. The glasses and mugs I have already do that." Surely she must have seen the mismatched collection of whimsical drinkware Cayde had scavenged from the alien shopping center.
He reaches over to put a hand out towards Colonel, waiting until she wanders closer so he can pet her. "Can't think of anything else at the moment. I don't really wanna overdo it, you know? Sometimes less is more."

The chicken lifts her head, jerking it this way and that in that almost mechanical movement that poultry tends to move. "Bawk." She goes back to pecking at the table.

"Anything else you need from us? Method of payment upon services rendered?"

Cayde tilts his head. "The Agrii do have some issues about weapons and violence. I'm lucky I managed to keep my hand cannon," he says, patting the oversized gun at his hip fondly. "What kind of weapons do you normally use?"
no subject
Admittedly, Reno had sailed into this one herself, not even realizing that she might have to explain a few things to her new friend. Her cheerful countenance takes an awkward turn, cheeks turned back in something of an uncomfortable grimace. "Everyone else I've told here has given me weird looks when I show them, but I guess if we're going to be blasting things together..."
There's a glance to the hen, "Before I show you, you might want to make sure the Colonel doesn't scatter off."
no subject
He chuckles a little, patting Colonel. "She'll be fine. Battle chicken, remember? She helped me take out some Red Legion Cabal when we went to infiltrate and take back our city."
no subject
In an instant, she's surrounded by segmented parts of what appeared to be a ship's hull. Mounted on them were several turrets, anti-aircraft cannon pointed at the sky, a shotgun mounted at her hip with another turret underneath, torpedo tubes on her other hip, and were those funnels behind her?
"Don't say I didn't warn you."
no subject
"Whoa!" He carefully sets Colonel back down, stepping over for a closer look before he catches himself. "-er, are those... Guess that'd be kinda awkward. Aherm." He 'coughs' into a hand and leans a hip against the worktable. "Are those like...magical guns or some kinda transmat thing? More importantly, do they actually work?! Wow! What do they shoot?"
no subject
"And they do work... when they have ammunition, which I don't have here," her high coming down with a disappointed sigh. "I still have all the other powers I would have with my rigging up, just no fireworks show."
no subject
"Anti-aircraft, really? And torpedoes?! Sounds like you've got everything!" His excitement deflates a little when she mentions she has no ammunition- not as down as Reno herself as he can't be surprised that the Agrii have kept that from her. "Ah, that's unfortunate. Guess that sort of ammo would be a lot more specialized than bullets." He finally does sigh as well. "For all that the Agrii expect us to help 'em out, they sure put a big limitation on what we can do to protect ourselves and others with the weapons."

Shaking his head, he chuckles a little. "Wow. Yeah, definitely not something the Agrii'd approve of. Then again, Felwinter could probably blow up plenty of stuff without any warheads so..." He shrugs.
"So if things got a little hairy here, would you still be able to fight somehow, or would you need an external weapon? I'm not sure how crafting ammo for you'd work out here, otherwise."

"I'll be sure to leave any water rescues to you, then," Cayde grins.
