WHO: Eli Vanto and to anyone else
WHERE: Near the Greenhouse
WHAT: Eli is working to repair a building to turn it into a kitchen soup place.
WHEN: Current and after the kitchen has been opened
WARNINGS: None
Repairing the Building:
Since the initial response, Eli had been busy working on repairing a building to put together what was dubbed a kitchen soup place. He found the perfect building that would be sufficient for the task. He would live in the back of it and the front would be set up for pick up to pick up their meals or to eat. He could also use the second level for storage or a place to do other work in.
It wasn't a simple task repairing an old run down building. They didn't have a lot of the equipment needed to do the tasks properly. He also didn't have a lot of experience in this kind of work. He was determined to make it work and thankfully with some help they were able to get the place habitual.
The next task was working on stocking up everything they needed and storing it. He found ways to also record what was stored, being used, and information on the items. Eli realized that there will still be possible mistakes and room to fix things. He was glad to see at least everything moving in the direction it should.
Open for Business:
A few weeks later Eli had the place open and running. He had the placed stocked up with food. As he repaired the building he had also learned ways to help preserve the food and store it. When Eli wasn't busy prepping and cooking, he took time to interact with anyone that stopped in. He loved the idea of being able to get to know people this way. Food was always a good source to connect with people. He even made sure there was food for the various pets that people had with them. He didn't want to leave anyone behind. Overall, Eli was just happy to be helping people and to be keeping busy.

His nights were filled with nightmares, but his days at least were what he'd call productive.
At the moment, he was haunting the second floor of the building, finding it a quiet enough place to settle down and work on his embroidery after helping out downstairs a little- and honestly, he found more comfort in being here than he did in the hotel, much more at ease in a place where people weren't constantly coming and going.
It presented its own challenges, certainly. But he liked it. And unless Eli chased him out, he was more likely to stay here than return to the hotel.

Instead of prying or demanding to ask the Sith, he simply placed together a small pile blankets and a mattress upstairs along with a lantern. He also made sure to leave a plate of food for Altair as well. Sometimes there would be something sweet to eat as well. He would often always leave a little note as well which often consisted of a thank you or if he needed anything to let him know.
He figured, Altair would eventually approach him and accept the rest of the place too. Besides, Altair also helped gather food and helped fix the building. He couldn't ask for anything else.

Honestly he'd meant to ask if he could move in, but between everything else, it had ended up just... Not really happening. And him unofficially living on the second floor had happened. Strange, or perhaps expected, that nothing in his life was ever planned. Be it zany adventures or finding a place to stay, it seemed that life was determined to be as random and impossible to plan for as ever.
Perhaps he hadn't expected anything else though, taking it in stride.
And Eli didn't seem to mind, given that he hadn't chased him out.
Finding that he desired company though, on this particular day, he was downstairs rather than hiding out upstairs. He had the notebook he'd been given by the Agrii out- first intended to be a way to keep a record of thing- out, and rather than writing, he was drawing in it. Some notes had been made. Mostly about the plants in the greenhouse. But for the most part, it was filled with drawings of his companions from home.
He supposed that eventually he would have to ask the Agrii for another book to keep notes in. And perhaps pens in proper colors.
His embroidery kit and the embroidery he was working on was also next to him- as he alternated between his drawings and his needlepoint.

Eli softly commented. "My sketches aren't that great. I should show you what I have in my book and you'll see how bad they are."

"I wasn't aware that I look to be at peace when I'm drawing or embroidering. Actually, I wasn't aware that my emotions can be so easily read when I'm wearing my veil at all."
The veil's purpose was to hide the fact that he was Chiss. But he'd often used the fact that it hid half his expression to his advantage, as many people had difficulties figuring out what he was thinking. Eyes tended to be expressive, after all, and his were no exception. His inability to hide his feelings were a weakness within the Sith. The veil had many purposes for that reason alone.
Still, if Eli could tell he was at peace... Perhaps the veil was not as good at hiding his feelings at all. And it really made him feel like even less of a Chiss to, given that what he'd seen- or more accurately, sensed- from them was nothing at all. Their thoughts and feelings were guarded.
He supposed that shouldn't come as a surprise to him.
"Am I truly so expressive even with it on or were you guessing?"

"It's the little things that tell me how Thrawn is really feeling or acting. He's so careful not to show them on the surface in fear of being weak. Over time I learned to figure things out. A regular passer by wouldn't be able to tell you're at peace."
no subject
It seemed to be the truth, rather than any sort of appeasement.
Still, Thrawn and Eli had been with each other for a long time. And that meant that Eli had had years to learn to read the small things. He and Eli had not known each other long. Eli was, of course, unusually perceptive, as well. Altair wasn't sure what to chalk it up to.
Deciding to change the subject, he said; "You don't have to bring food upstairs every day, by the way. I appreciate the effort, but if I'm hungry, I am quite capable of finding my way downstairs."

He then got up to go retrieve his battered pad of paper. A lot of it was filled with various detailed notes in his sloppy handwriting. Most of the notes were observations, thoughts, possible snarky comments. The rest were all doodles that closely resemble a chibi style. Nothing very realistic, but enough to decipher who it's meant to be.

At home he would have had the option to read in the privacy of his ship, of his home on Dromund Kaas, or even commandeering a private room just about anywhere in Imperial space. Here? Here he had to make do with pulling at his veil and glancing beneath it.
He wished he'd had his goggles with him, when he arrived. But he didn't.
"You write your quips down for future use?" He asked, first, unable to help the amusement in his tone of voice- quickly followed by a soft huff of laughter, "Funny."
It wasn't mocking. He was just amused.
"Your drawings though- is... Is that me?"

He couldn't help but shrug at his own statement.

"And you certainly got my size right."
Poking a bit of fun at himself, but being vertically challenged wasn't something he could deny. And it wasn't something he was ashamed of, either. After all, it was a part of himself he couldn't change, and being small certainly had its advantages.
"And I suppose I could see how that would get you in trouble..."
It was still sort of amusing that he wrote it down though.

"I do need to get more paper though. I've been trying to use up every space possible. And recording what I can on our communicator. We didn't have this back at home. Usually flimsy was scarcely used and only for important things."

The style was different than his own, certainly, but it wasn't like it was totally unrecognizable, "And I imagine it'll get better, with practice."
The way one got better with most things, through practice.
"And I assume you could ask the Agrii for it. I... Do not always feel comfortable, relying on them so much, but it isn't as though we have a choice. And they seem to be getting better with giving out what we need with practice. I suppose practice makes perfect for them too?"
Not that he didn't take his point. It was certainly an unusual medium, even for him.
"I do miss my datapad though. But we're lucky that we're given this," He said, with a small smile, followed by a slight laugh, "In my line of work I certainly deal with mediums much more cumbersome. Try doing anything when the medium you're working with is stone tablets. Why the ancient Sith were so intent on chiseling their knowledge down on slabs of rock I'll never understand. Perhaps scrolls weren't quite so easy to curse?"
He looked thoughtful as he pondered, "I suppose my point is that at least this can be adapted to. Imagine if we were to try to write and draw on slabs of cursed stone."
Repairing
"What ya doing?" he calls out. He was bored enough to not mind the potential of being put to work.
Repairing
"We could always use extra hands. Food in exchange for help."

"Well, I can do up to about eight-hundred pounds at once, but it's easier if it's something that is easy to grip."
