Reno had discovered the canteen bar. It wasn't a place she was that familiar with back home, not with all of her hobbies. Yet, without said hobbies readily available, it didn't sound like a bad place to go. Even more so if she was going to meet more people here. She was alone. She didn't like being alone.

So, currently standing behind the bar is the kansen, waiting expectantly for someone - anyone - to enter. "To break up the bootlegging ring, the brave sidekick Reno has disguised herself as the bartender! Reno: Undercover!" A sigh, "If only. I'm not even sure I know what half these drinks are or if they are even illegal..."

Steve blinked, confused and looking between Bucky and the girl for a moment before stepping forward and offering his own smile. "I...um. I don't know any movies about me. But it's nice to meet you, Reno. I guess you know who I am? This is Bucky, my fr-"

Steve paused and looked over at Bucky for a second. This was the first time he had to introduce Bucky as more than just his best friend. Or should he? What was even the term they would use for their relationship?

"Uh. This is Bucky."

No reason to be an awkward cruiser here. There's bright eyes, a winning smile, and "Its a pleasure!" for the Soldier. After that, her attention returned to the rather confused Steve, and she has to draw in a breath. This was going to be a load, but with great power came great responsibility.

"I'm not sure I really want to spoil your future if you don't know it. Messing with timelines makes my head hurt. But I do want to say... I've always looked up to you, even from these beginnings."

He'd meant the pre-Cap Steve 'running hooch', but Bucky didn't correct, guarded posture breaking only slightly when Steve stumbled over his word choice.

Right. They needed to...talk about that. Didn't they? A faint heat coloured his cheek, but he pushed it aside. Now wasn't the time.

He watches Steve, curious to see how he handles fans when he hasn't 'become' the person they're fanning over yet.

Steve actually perks up a little, surprised and a little grateful that someone actually knew who he was before the muscles and super powers and had liked him at that point, too. Aside from Bucky, there were precious few people who looked at him and didn't see 'Pre-Cap' instead of 'Steve Rogers'.

"I... Uh. I know I become Captain America. I was supposed to get the serum tomorrow, back in my timeline. But clearly that's gotta wait a bit longer." He smiles. "Thanks, though. It's real swell of you to say all that. I hope to live up to what you've had in your head."

With a huge exhale, Reno visibly relaxes. "Oh good, now I don't have to worry about slipping up accidentally!" And he had to smile, which only has her violet eyes exploding as she clasped her metallic gloves together. "You're you, so you don't have to worry! And oh wow, I'm so sorry, but I've never thought I'd ever meet you! And I don't have my shield here either- Wow, look at me, I've turned into a total fangirl, and I barely introduced myself-"

There's a sudden awkward abrupt end to the squeeing.

"... and you don't have any kansen back in your time."

Bucky's hands slide into his pockets, watching the exchange with a faint smile. He doesn't get many fans himself, so the encounter is endearing.

"Kansen?" he asks, head tilting at the unfamiliar word.

Steve looks over at Bucky and his smile. He nudges him slightly, as though to tell him to cut it out, even while smiling himself.

"If Buck doesn't know what that means I got no hope. Is Kansen...something German?"

"Yeah, this is going to be... awkward." Steve is definitely nowhere near her time, and she's probably certain neither is Bucky. It was hard enough trying to explain to someone who's not from her world, but to someone she absolutely idolizes? A deep breath, and then, "Kinetics Artifactual Navy-Self-regulative En-lore Node. Or KAN-SEN. I'm not quite human."

Another deep breath, "I was, uh, reborn by an energy source known as a wisdom cube. Its kinda advanced, really advanced, past the super soldier serum advanced." Hands are now starting to waggle nervously through her explanation.

And another, "And by reborn I mean, I'm USS Reno, hull number CL-96 of the Atlanta class. From your time," said with the most anxiety-riddled teeth-clenched apologetic smile at Steve. "Your war."

Sorry, boys, but this is what you get for winning the war in the Pacific.

"..." Yeah. Bucky hated how that almost didn't even phase him at this point. Sure. Of course this was walking talking warship. Nothing strange about that. Why wouldn't the USS Reno be a child robot with a thing for Steve?

"You're a lot smaller in person," he noted dryly, reaching over the bar to help himself to a bottle. He was going to need a drink. A lot of drinks.

Steve elbowed Bucky in the side as though to remind him to be polite. Still, that was pretty funny and he was fighting a smile on his face as he did so. Steve eyed the bottle and shot Bucky a look he hoped translated as, 'Same, pal.' But strangeness aside, Reno seemed nice enough. He turned back and extended his hand.

"Nice to meet you then, Reno. I won't lie 'nd say it's not a little strange to talk to a...battleship... But it is swell to have another person from our time, certainly. Especially from the war."

Its becoming one of those days for all of them. Especially Reno, who's now being offered the hand of Captain Freakin' America himself. She's all sparkles at that, not even bothering to correct him that she's actually a light cruiser. "N-Nice to meet you too," said as she eagerly takes the hand in kind for a rather awkward shake. Forgive her Steve, she's trying really hard not to vibrate through the floor.

Though those last words to help calm her down some, "And yeah, the war. We've both got big things to return to when we're done here, don't we?"

He was being polite. Few long stares. Speaking. Joking even. He's being downright personable compared to other occasions.

Bucky uncorked the bottle and lifted it in a sort of toast and knocked back a good long swig before offering it up to Steve with a smirk.

"Big things."

That may not have been the best choice of words, and already the girl is making jazz hands. "Sorry! I'm just... Nnngh... I never thought I'd meet one of my actual heroes! Give me a moment!" A deep breath, and she mumbles something about San Diego? Another deep breath, and Reno's back to all smiles towards them.

"So. Uh. I'm not sure there's root beer here?"
