That Awkward Moment
WHO: Peter Parker and Quentin Beck
WHERE: Their House
WHAT: Peter's got his powers back and Peter tingle is working..
WHEN: After the storm, before he knows Tony is missing
WARNINGS: Uh.. depends on if Peter can keep things on the DL.
Peter's powers come back while he's sleeping and when he finally wakes up in the morning his blanket is stuck to his skin. He's relieved to know that he can control his powers again and quickly unsticks and untangles himself from the blanket, he's also, as he realizes a second too late, on the ceiling. He lets out a sharp yelp but manages to stop himself from smacking his face on the floor. He lets out a slow breath and gets to his feet. It's nice to have his powers back under his control but something still feels.. off.
At first, he thinks it's just because he hasn't had his powers for several days so his senses are a little on high alert. He thinks it'll go away soon and just busies himself with breakfast. Peter's finally used the replicator and the first thing he had replicated was cereal. Not just any cereal but fruitloops and he doesn't even have milk for them. He's had a rough week and at some point decided he deserved fruit loops.
Since his senses are still buzzing uncomfortably and his powers are back, he climbs up and sticks to the wall so he can survey the room while eating cereal straight from the box like a little heathen. It only helps to calm the danger tingle a little and Peter's forced to wonder if it's on the fritz or there really is something to be worried about right now.
Just to be safe, he shimmies a little further up on the ceiling.

"...someone's feeling better," he notes, lips curling in a teasing fashion. Hell, he was feeling better too. "You know we have bowls somewhere, right?"
no subject
"Yeah..." Peter says slowly, trying to focus on what was making him feel like he was in danger. He tries to discretely glance down at his arm to see goosebumps just starting to form. Is... Is Beck what his senses are upset about?
He sucks in a breath and just offers a half smile.
"...I thought if I was gonna eat them up here there was less of a chance they'd spill this way." He states.

"And you're eating up there because...?"
no subject
"Oh. It's because-" Every good liar knows there's nothing more deceptive than the truth but Peter is not a good liar, at least not net. Right now though, he has a major tell in that the inflection of his tone goes up almost as if he's questioning his own response. "-I'm celebrating getting my powers back."
The minute the words are out of his mouth though he realizes that he could have come up with something better-he could have said something about everything feeling off since he hadn't had them for a few days and being in high places helped sooth the feeling like he wanted to crawl out of his own skin. Instead he went for the lamest excuse possible.
But then again, that is just his luck.

He strolls across the room to take a seat so he can look up at him easier, flexing his fingers with a distant look, "I keep thinking mine'll come back any day," he muses, still trying to lay the ground work for when he's able to weave his illusions again. He needs a few more drones before he can manage it with a reliable outcome.

"Um.. kinda weird." He opts for the truth this time. "Like trying to tune a radio frequency and getting way too much feedback." He pauses a moment before adding with what he hopes is a subtle dig. "..it kinda feels like something wants to attack me."
no subject
"...so why didn't you make milk if you were going to spurge and make yourself cereal?"
no subject
The man's never given him reason to distrust him before and had really been nothing but nice to him since he'd gotten here. The all too familiar sensation of guilt comes pouring in. To distract himself from it, he grabs a handful of cereal and shoves it in his mouth like a popcorn.
"Because." He states after his mouth is clear again. "dried cereal is just as good, if not better than with milk." He lowers the box to tilt it towards Beck. "Want some?"
no subject
"Used to live off this stuff and ramen back in my college days."
no subject
"...You know, for a while I didn't think I even wanted to go to college." Okay, so the deflection might have worked for now but he still feels like he needs to be in highest place in the house as possible. "Mr Stark would kill me if he knew I even considered not going."

It's never a good idea to tell someone you suspect might not be entirely trustworthy too much about yourself but right now, Peter's again having a hard time seeing the man as such. He's been nothing but nice, he's taken care of Peter on occasion and even coaxed him through a major panic attack. How could someone like that be bad?
no subject
"...it could be a nice way to connect with them," he agrees after a moment, "I'm sure they'd be proud of you, Peter...everything you've accomplished..."
no subject
"Um..." He sucks in a breath and looks up at the ceiling for a moment. ".. I can only hope." He answers. "Do you-It probably sounds stupid but-do you think there's any chance they could.. I don't know.. show up here?"
no subject
no subject
"Um.. no." He shakes his head. "I didn't-I-I don't even know.." If he'd recognize them. He's seen pictures of course but is that really enough to actually recognize them if he saw them on the street?
"I did see my uncle though-Or I thought I did. I guess it wasn't really him."
no subject
"...you've lost a lot of people, haven't you Peter?" he notes. It helped make the kid an easy target. So eager to latch on to the next figure to fill that empty spot...
no subject
"Y-you could say that." He finally states. "But I still have May." Well, not here, but back home. "She's been with me through everything."
no subject

"She's pretty fierce."
