A trio of Billy Event prompts~
WHO:Billy Kaplan, OTA
WHERE: Temba- Various
WHAT: Event, in which Billy's powers go nuts and he needs rescuing
WHEN: Through out the event
WARNINGS: TBD
Free Falling
What was that noise? Billy stepped out with a frown as he tried to identify the source of the screaming, concerned and more than a little anxious.
Was that the moon??
He hardly had time to wonder what weird new thing was going on before suddenly he found his feet lifting up off the ground. It was a familiar sensation, but never one that had happened without his control, and Billy tried to steer himself back down with little success. Why were his powers working now? Or...not working??
He floated higher, like a balloon let loose by a crying a child, and cried out in surprise when he suddenly plummeted several feet. Thankfully, he started floating again before he hit the ground, but his eyes were wide with panic now, releasing at any moment they might cut out again.
When the bough breaks
Wanting to avoid the same fate, Billy had stayed inside the next night, occasionally floating up to the ceiling, but safely contained, feeling proud that he'd out smarted this latest insanity when suddenly he spontaneously teleported without meaning to.
One second he was in bed and the next he was high in the sky over the trees of the forest.
He desperately muttered spells, but his magic refused to obey him, sparks jumping randomly from his finger tips before he fell, smashing into/through several thick branches before he managed to catch hold of one.
He clung to it with a groan as he tried to catch his breath, and when he opened his eyes he paled when he saw just how high he still was.
"...Hello?" he called. He'd never been scared of heights before, but they suddenly seemed a lot more scary when you couldn't fly.
All tied up
Another of Billy attempts to protect himself seemed to have gone wrong.
He was tethered to a tree branch, looking more than a little exhausted, the rope tangled from his repeated ups and downs, leaving him hanging upside down and currently unable to free himself.
There was a small pile of seemingly random objects littering the ground beneath him- comics, a retro refrigerator, a bowling pin- his magic randomly conjuring without his control.
He sighed and raised a hand in a weak wave at being discovered. "...Can you help me down?" he asked sheepishly.

and I'm free...free FALLING
Plus, something buried deep under the Winter Soldier programming needed to see Billy with his own eyes, after the illusion that drew him into the trap.
A fortunate thing he was out and about then; he couldn't mistake the figure floating, falling, floating in the air half a mile away. He broke into a run that was half parkour over the broken landscape, cursing when he rolled an ankle on a landing. The storm affected his strength as well, seemingly, but the Soldier would not be deterred.
"Billy!" he called out when he got closer. Could the other man will himself down? He didn't know.
no subject
He anxiously peered through his lashes, and twisted in an attempt to control the magic. "I thought you were in Sh'Ka- I can't- hh-" Another sudden drop had his stomach in his throat. "...I really don't like this."
no subject
"I had been getting supplies." Hopefully Billy was too preoccupied with his own situation to examine that too closely; the Soldier could have dropped what he was doing and gotten to the train. "Stay calm. Don't think about falling; I will catch you. Just breathe instead."
no subject
"I think I'm oka-" he started, before his magic abrupt conjured a piano, which tumbled down towards Soldier. "No-!" he tried to warn, gesturing fruitlessly to try and stop it with magic that refused to work for him.
no subject
Of course, his belief in himself was tested a moment later when a piano appeared out of nowhere. He dodged out of the way, having to roll at the end of the motion to avoid splintering wood and suddenly untensioned wires. "Breathe! Don't look, just breathe."
no subject
"Are you all right? I didn't mean to-"
no subject
"Breathing, and calm. I will catch you," he repeated. Hopefully without the storm wreaking too much havoc with his own abilities.
no subject
"You um...you okay?" he asked, trying to make totally normal conversation like he wasn't in danger of floating away or plummeting to the ground any second.
no subject
"I am ful— fine," he replied, catching himself before he admitted fully operational. Casual conversation, that was how he usually addressed Billy. "More concerned about you."
halp
"IwanttoflyIwanttoflyIwantfly- oh ga-" Billy chanted frantically.
no subject
Had he remembered the move from the illusionary world? Perhaps unconsciously. Or perhaps it was simply the best way to protect Billy from a hard landing.
He lay there for a minute; with his own strength coming and going the landing had knocked the wind out of him.
no subject
Then the world turned upside down and it took Billy a few moments of panting before he realized he'd been saved the bulk of that impact.
He cursed under his breath, squeezing Soldier into a tight up instinctive before realizing that sort of gratitude might not be welcomed just now (or really ever in the case of Soldier), and he winced apologetically
"You saved me. God- are you okay? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you-"
no subject
"Just a little bruised," he added, because Billy would probably ask. He felt that he had to keep built focused on the physical; maybe he wouldn't notice that the Soldier had been compromised. Act normal.
no subject
"How bad is it?" he asked, fully disregarding the assertion that he was fine once he heard the word bruised. That wasn't fine.
no subject
He sat up finally, though made no move to stand just yet. Bits of the broken piano surrounded them, likely the largest contributor to the bruising. The Winter Soldier reached for Billy's ankle, curling his left hands around it. "Don't fly off."
no subject
"Stooop," he groaned, but he had no control, a smattering of butterflies suddenly springing to life around them.
Apparently he has multiple left hands...
"Just breathe," he repeated the advice from earlier. "Breathe through it."
lol i missed that
He shifted closer, anxious fingers catching at Soldier without thinking.
"I don't know how to stop it-"
I'm still giggling, new HYDRA add on
He wrapped his left arm around Billy's waist, a hold that should secure him from floating off. Billy's fingers caught at his clothes; he didn't brush them off. "Just stay calm. If you can't stop it, you must react to it. A clear head will help."
no subject
And really, if anyone knew anything about what he was saying right now, it was Soldier. Billy seemed to recognize that, giving a slow nod and trying to slow his racing pulse.
"...I'm scared," he admitted.
All Tied Up
Then he tripped on a bowling pin and went down with a yelp, instinctively hugging his tablet to protect it.
"WHAT THE BLOODY DAMN -" The sight of the bowling catches him up short. "What?" And he looks up at the request. "Billy? How.... What?"
no subject
"I uh...I got stuck. The moon makes my powers go off like crazy, and I haven't really figured out how to stop it."
no subject
"How long have you been up there? Nope. No, don't answer that, doesn't matter." He was already rummaging through the random objects, looking for a cutting tool and wishing he had his utility knife. Unfortunately, most of the objects, while interesting, were useless. (He might later salvage some comics and an appliance or two for parts.)
"Rubbish. Hnn..." After standing and brushing himself off, Drake took a couple of steps back and frowned up at the entangled young wizard, eyes darting from one thing to the next with his finger tapping thoughtfully at his lips. Without a word, he started climbing the tree, using any footholds or spare snags or knots and at one point even grabbing at Billy to haul himself up.
Once he was where he wanted to be, Drake took a loose bit of rope, looped it around one of the taut lines holding Billy, and started sawing it back and forth.
no subject
"...Are you sawing a rope with a rope?" Billy asked, looking doubtful but curious. Would that really work??
no subject
droppedfreed."Mind your head," was all the warning Billy got.
no subject
He gave a pained but grateful look, not hurt, just a little banged up and bruised ego. "Where did you learn how to do that?"
