lionunchained: (white what is happening now?)

All of the screaming

WHO: Shiro and you!
WHERE: Around Temba
WHAT: Storm Shenanigan
WHEN: Energy Storm
WARNINGS: None yet... except maybe bad pun

A - Ghost of people past

Well, this kind of sucked. With this wonderful storm that was brought on, with all of the fog and everything else, his mechanical arm suddenly stopped working. No matter how Shiro tried to work on it, it just wouldn't respond. Well, he was done to one arm now.

So he had decided to head outside. No point in just sitting around after all. It was very eerie outside. This definitely felt like something bad. This must have been an energy storm? Since they had descried that powers didn't work and suddenly his arm wasn't working?

But as he was walking through the street, he spotted someone and it felt like his blood went cold for a moment as he stared at them. They were... so far away, but he felt that he knew exactly who they were.

"Adam?" When the figure started to move away, he called out. "Adam!"

B - Anyone need a hand?

Shiro had decided that the best course of action to try and get some assistance with his arm was well... to bring it outside and see if he could have someone help look at it. It was so hard to actually do it by himself he was find.

He had really just gotten back outside with it when suddenly the moon screamed. Holding his mechanical arm, Shiro was really unable to block out the sound from the scream.

What the...?

But then all of the sudden, his mechanical arm was moving again... but not because he was controlling it. It was moving entirely on its own and completely at random.

"What the hell?!"

C - Wildcard

Have another idea? Feel free to let me know and we can work on another option.

"Shiro?"

Keith heard him calling for Adam, and it was concerning. He'd been tricked by one of these storms before, and he started running towards him.

Of course, the fact that he could actually be being tricked again didn't cross his mind at all...

Well, the fact that Shiro stopped and turned back to face him was a good sign for Keith's sake. He'd chased after him, sure, but there had been that chance he'd been hallucinating because of the storm, too.

But, yeah... he reminded himself that this was the first time Shiro had experienced one of these storms.

"It's..." He took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. It's the storm." Keith also noticed then that the light from Shiro's shoulder piece for his arm wasn't on. That must be the storm, too. "We should try to take some cover..." He was trying to be gentle, hoping that Shiro wouldn't take this too badly. After all, Keith had fractured his leg in one of these storms when he fell down a small cliff chasing down visions he thought were his parents. He knew they were pretty convincing, and that they liked to lead someone towards danger.

"Aw crap-"

Screaming moons were one thing. Actually it was a very weird thing. It was practically enough for Cayde to decide he much rather preferred a Hive-infested moon than that one up above.

And then came the Light, flooding back in full force- more so than he'd ever felt the connection before. It was too much, and he had a feeling it wasn't going to be a pretty result. One thing was for sure, he'd definitely be pretty hard to miss out there.

As Shiro struggled with his wildly moving arm, he was bound to see a bright light cutting through the fog. It would turn out to be a figure, entirely engulfed in flames, and although the fiery intensity didn't seem to be consuming said figure himself.

It was telling when Cayde wasn't even sure he could say he was all right. Was there a limit to how much output a Guardian could channel? He wasn't sure if his Exo body would be able to withstand the excess Solar energy he felt building in and around him. He just hoped he wouldn't go super nova or something. His body curled over itself as he hugged his arms around him, as though that would help to contain it.

"-Shiro?!" It took him a moment to remember someone else was there, and it was someone he knew. He jerked his head up, unable to see much past the glare he was generating. "Stay back, I can't-"

He staggered back, feeling himself waver, feeling like even his mind was on fire. All this energy was going to need an outlet, and he sure didn't want it to be anywhere near a buddy.

Keith gave Shiro a sympathetic look, squeezing a bit with his hand on Shiro's arm.

"Hey... I'm sorry."

Regardless of what had happened between Shiro and Adam before Voltron, Keith knew that Shiro was still hurt by Adam's death. Keith was, too, honestly. It had been hard to get to know one without getting to know the other. And, even if Keith had kind of sided with Shiro after the break up, he didn't hate Adam.

Being on fire really wasn't something new. Usually it just didn't happen on a whim. Or...in this case, when the moon was screaming.

"Don't die," came Cayde's suggestion, even then sounding grated as he was understandably a bit distracted. He grabbed his gun, unsure of how much more things would build up before inevitably exploding. He couldn't tell if doing so was enough of a trigger or if it was just coincidence, but he swung the Ace of Spades up towards the sky, in the back of his mind hoping maybe it was at the moon. He grasped it with both hands just as the fire peaked and then shot outwards- a massive blast of golden, flaming light. Briefly the surrounding area was lit up like day, but the moon remained untouched, wherever it was, although the screams seemed to have ceased.

Cayde stood where he was, uncharred by the fiery display, even if the ground around him smoldered slightly with residual heat. He collapsed onto the ground, lying on his back with a groan.

"Mugggh...." the Exo replied, which was as good an affirmative as any.

It took him a moment, but his optics finally opened, brightening gradually to normal levels, only to glare at the moon hanging in the sky, disappointed he hadn't shot a hole straight through it. Slowly he dragged himself to roll onto an arm, about as far as he got in propping himself up for the moment.

"I'm getting too old for this. Still in one piece?"

With all the weird things going on, Cayde wasn't going to blame Shiro for being extra careful. A randomly combusting Exo was not a fun thing to have at a party. He accepted the help, finally taking in Shiro's situation.

"Whoa, what happened to it? You all right?" His mind was getting there, hopping hurdles to catch up, click things together. "-it doesn't hurt does it?" He wasn't sure how the connection worked, but it put into perspective how much more inconvenient a storm could make things for people.

"Storm," Cayde grunted, dusting himself off. He slipped his hand cannon back into its holster. "A weird one, but the effects are about the same. Screaming moon's new."

How often was that going to be a thing? At least Sundance was trying to keep track of things should it happen again.

"We better figure out if there's a way around that. You probably don't need to be slapping yourself any more than I need to suddenly explode in solar fire. Sorry about that, by the way- I'm usually way better at that."
deal_me_in: (Then I shot that guy)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2022-03-29 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Arm, right." Cayde looked around, and then held his hand out to call up his Ghost. "Got a light, Sundance? We got a lost arm around here somewhere." If that wasn't something weird to say...

The Ghost switched to her more directional light, beaming it around. Cayde glanced over at Shiro. "Where about were you when you last had it?"
deal_me_in: (Worse case - you die)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2022-03-30 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Cayde shrugged. "Seems as good a place to start as any." He couldn't really remember which direction Shiro had come from either. If they started wandering in the wrong direction they'd get farther away from the right place to look just by not knowing where they started.

"We need a reference point," he suggested, pulling out the knife from his sheath. He tilted it just so, watching as it gleamed off Sundance's light. With a nod, he stooped down to plunge it into the ground. "Okay, we go straight ahead, have a look around, and if there's no luck, Sundance's light should reflect enough for us to come back and try again. Don't think you were that far off, at least."
tempredmental: (Sadly Uncertain)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2022-03-30 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Keith looked down for a split second and then nodded.

"Yeah... yeah, it has." His voice was low, having definitely experienced it himself. "It was one thing to see people from home, but..." He sighed heavily, following Shiro inside. "I saw my dad."
deal_me_in: (That's good right?)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2022-03-31 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
With a nod from Cayde, Sundance started to sweep the area in front of them as they started forward.

"Heh, maybe you should put like a string or something on it next time," the Exo suggested, only half kidding. He hadn't any other good ideas for how to keep track of a mechanical arm if it decided to have a mind of its own. "You see it?"
