a Chasing Dreams

The fog that settled into the city is thicker than any fog Bruno has ever seen or walked through. Fog usually only settles in the early morning hours in the Encanto, which are also some of the few times Bruno dares to leave the house. But that fog has never been anything like this fog. This fog? Is frightening. As is the thunder that cuts through the silence every once in a while.

Bruno regrets having stepped outside. He already feels lost in this large place. But then he spots something - Or someone familiar.

"J-Julieta?" Bruno exclaims in surprise at spotting his sister walking down the street not too far from him, yet not paying attention to him at all. So of course Bruno starts after her, calling out to her again. "Wha- Wait! Julieta!"

And off he goes, straight into the remains of a tall building.

b IT'S A GLITTER STORM!

Bruno hasn't necessarily noticed his powers not working. It's not like he has been actively using them in years and not having to fend off any accidental visions for an entire day now has been great! No headaches and he even got a nap in. If he ignores the fog and lightning outside, things are very much fine.

He will just make sure to grab some food and return to his room and ignore that leering gaze from the moon above that certainly isn't falling down or anything.

It only... Screams?

Bruno flinches at the sudden noise and looks up in bewilderment which only lasts a split second before he finds himself trapped in a hurricane of red and pink and purple. Visions that have spared him all day going wild before his inner eye, but also in the green glowing displays before him. They try to be their usual color at least, but with the vibrant glitter mixing into them it gets a little muddled. The same goes for the displays of his visions, which are more displays of abstract forms than actual peeks into the future.

And all the while, Bruno is helplessly flailing his hands at them or pressing his knuckles into his skull, desperately trying to force these visions to stop. "No! No no no no no! Stop it! Stop! You have to stop!!"

Well... that had certainly been a large piece of glass if it made a hole like that in the ground. As Bruno picked up some of the glass, he leaned in to look at it bit more.

"Yeah, I wouldn't either. Seems rather dangerous." He shook his head. "Me? I'm fine. How about you?"

"Me? Oh- I'm good. Everything intact. Nothing to worry about!" Bruno is quick to assure, his wild gesturing very much meant to support his words. If any of that makes him more convincing remains up for debate.

"But, uh.... I don't think we should stay here?"

Well, the wild gesturing proves that his arms aren't broken? So there is that. Besides, he certainly doesn't know Bruno well enough to know if that is normal or not so he will assume that it is.

"Yeah, probably a good idea to leave..."

If only there was a way to get away from the screaming moon since who knows if it is going to do that again.

No broken arms are a good thing. As are no visible wounds. That the moon is still leering down at them? That's not a good thing. It makes Bruno wince when he looks up at it.

"The moon- Has it always been like that?" He dares asking, trying to figure out where a good place to hide away from it might be. Any other night he has been able to see the moon, Bruno could have sworn he never saw a face on it. And certainly not such a nasty one.

"No... that's something new."

He glanced up at the moon out of the corner of his eye.

"I've heard about these storms that are supposed to happened every now and again. I've never actually been in one, but they say powers and electronics start to go haywire. So... that might be what this is. The hotel might be a good place if that is the case."

Bruno nods along in a mix of cautious agreement and vague panic. "Right. Hotel. I know that place! Actually been living there. It's not too bad!" And potentially save? Well, maybe in places where Bruno hasn't dumped literal buckets of glitter for his more... Artistic pursuits.

He casts a look around, into the thick fog surrounding them. "Uh... Do... Do you know where it is...?"

Seemed simple enough to get to the hotel. At least that was the theory. On any other day, that might have been a simple ask.

Today... it very much was not. As Shiro looked around as well, he realized he had no idea where the hotel was. Well... quiznak.

"Well, I came from that general direction... and then moved to a different spot so... I'm not entirely sure."

That was very helpful, Shiro...

Seeing that this young man is just as lost as Bruno finds himself is- Well. Of course it's concerning in some ways, but at the same time also somewhat reassuring? It's not just his fault, maybe?

"It's kinda hard to see anything, isn't it..." He muses. "Maybe we could like- Put up signs? Pointing out directions to places like the hotel? Those would be pretty handy right now..."

Yeah, at least it was reassuring to know you weren't the only one having issues. So is they were both having the problems, then it wasn't just him going crazy.

"Yeah. Very hard. That's something to remember for when this fog is gone."

"I mean.... We're already going to paint the hotel, so- I say we can also paint some signs?" Is this plain practical thinking? Maybe. But he already got the paint and unreasonable amounts of glitter hoarded away to make the hotel a less gloomy place in his opinion. Because that's what glitter it good for. And paint.

"Yeah, signs might be useful in general. Like maybe a directional sign that points to main different locations?"

This is clearly what one thinks about when trapped in a fog: all of the ways to no longer be trapped in a fog.

"I'll help you with that."

Hearing the young man offering his help gets a smile from Bruno and his mood perks up notably. "You will? Oh, that's great! You know this town better than I do and can point out places we can make signs for and where to put them up!" Such knowledge will be very helpful for a project like that indeed.

"Of course. We need to help each other, right? I have been here for a while. It's good to important to try and make it easier for everyone else and as far as I know we never had it quite like this. Now that we know."

You can't fix a problem you don't know exists.

"Absolutely correct!" Bruno agrees, cheerful despite the still ongoing and doubtlessly weird weather phenomenon. "If we work together and help each other, there's little we can't do." Which isn't any different from how things were taken care of back home as well.

"These storms, they- They pass, right? So when this is over, I'll let you know when I got everything we need."

"Exactly. Teamwork is very important." It was easy to be excited for a new project. At least at the moment, things were calm if still weird. Even more so when working with other people.

"Yeah, they have in the past that I've been told. Not sure that I've heard of a screaming moon before though..."
