[ The video turns on to show Rey sitting in the crew quarters of the Starduck and next to her sits BB-8. He’s quietly warbling next to her, like he’s muttering under his breath, if he had breath. ]

Hi. There’s been some recent confusion so I thought before we confused anyone else I would clear something up.

Many of you know BB-8 well, as he’s been here the past few years with Poe. Unfortunately when Poe disappeared, BB-8’s memory of the past here seem to have been deleted. Or well… not deleted, it’s as if he was never here in the first place. I haven’t been able to find any evidence of him being tampered with, but of course I’ll keep running diagnostics, because I know he’d rather know who everyone is.

Until we figure out what happened though, please re-introduce yourself to him. He’s the same BB-8, he’s just missing some memory files.

[Did Mini steal Reeve's comm pad AGAIN when this went up? Yep. Reeve wasn't ready to handle this, and Mini still cared about his friend.]

Ah wish yah good tidings both. Ah'm Mini-C, and ah was a friend to him before. It's sad ta see yah lost stuff, but it's good ta know you again. Ah'm still around ta play tag if ya like that.

[ BB-8 whirls and beeps a few times curiously at the screen, before looking over at Rey. She smiles a little, nodding her head. She doesn’t really know what Mini is either but she just doesn’t ask questions. ]

He’d like that. He’s always out with me on my runs, it would be good for someone to give him more of a challenge.

He goes fastah then ah do, but the play has been fun.

Do you think he needs a checkup?
There's a room set up in the hospital for synthetics. I've been equipping it, as much as I can, if you need the tools.

Really? I had no idea. It wouldn’t hurt, certainly. I’ve done what I can with the ship’s onboard and BB’s run some of his own, but if there’s a more extensive system I’ll bring him by.

It's an ongoing project. A significant percentage of our population is at least partially synthetic, although their needs are varied, to say the least.

If you've got the droid maintenance experience, you might be able to fill in the gaps. I can make what you need, I just don't know what I don't know.

I can tell you what you'd need. At least for BB-8.

Of course. [ but like, if you asked for a ranking BB-8 is at least 5 places above Poe. ]

Are you sure he is the same, though?

[ Rey frowns, looking down at BB-8 for a moment before shaking her head. ]

You mean the droid that was here before went home with Poe, and this is… that same droid but he came back from a later time? It crossed my mind.

[ Especially because BB-8 is more aware of things that happened that the other droid didn’t seem to be. ]

But if they are the same droid maybe something exists of whatever happens to our memories when we go back home and then return.

[ BB-8 makes an objectionary noise which makes Rey smile and shake her head. ]

I know you’re not a science project BB. I promise no extensive poking or prodding.

Maybe. [Beck shrugs a shoulder.]

I can't say for sure, obviously. But I've seen it happen with a few people, it's not impossible it might have happened with your droid.

[ Rey sighs, rocking back to rest on her hands against the bed she's sitting on. ]

Maybe. I don't know, I still can't figure this place out.

The droid stayed when his companion left?

[ Oh no!!! Could the same happen to BD-1? She honestly can't imagine him being anything less than completely heartbroken if he was separated from Cal—or whatever passes for heartbroken in droids. ]

Yes and no? BB-8 has actually been with me more in the year past at home. He's still Poe's, but he sort of adopted me, too.

[ BB-8 lets out a series of cheerful beeps and bonks his head against Rey's knee. He is sad Poe isn't here, but happy he has Rey. ]

[ Luckily, her Binary has gotten a lot better lately, so she actually understood that. ]

I see. So you're his companion too. [ She nods decisively—mystery solved. ]

Then I am glad to hear you've stayed together. You know Cal and BD-1. I believe they would both be very upset if they were separated from one another.

[ Needless to say, she doesn't want that to happen. And no, she doesn't think it's weird at all to act like she knows Rey when Rey doesn't know her. ]

[ This actually isn't sarcasm. She's being 100% earnest. ]

[ Rey is probably like the one person in the galaxy who gets that earnestness. Awkward Space Orphans! ]

I'm Rey. Though it seems like you already knew that. You know Cal, did you meet him here or are you from our galaxy too?

[ She's assuming their reputation precedes them, so she doesn't explain any more than that. ]

[ Rey pauses for a long moment, her eyes dancing back and forth across the screen as she recollects what little she knows of the Nightsisters. It registers as something someone in the Jakku cantina had told her drunkenly, once. ]

...I thought the Nightsisters were just some fairy tale. A planet of witches?

Not witches. Nightsisters.

[ She's firm on that point. They aren't the same, you know!! ]

We did not occupy the entire planet. There are Nightbrothers as well.

[ Still earnest, but with a hint of humor in it. ]

[ Rey's eyes widen a little and she quickly shakes her head. ]

I didn't mean to... That's just what I heard them you called. I've heard the same said of Jedi.

[ Which she doesn't entirely hate if she's honest with herself. ]

That means you're a Force user too, right?

[ She head quirks a little to the side, almost cat-like, hearing that the same has been said of Jedi. Funny—how much they seem to have in common, for a group of people she was told to hate.

But don't worry, she isn't offended. ]

So your people call it, though many of them say we use the dark side of the Force. I only know my magick.

Most of those people are dead, and I've... learned that things aren't as black and white as the Jedi who were part of the Old Republic made it seem.

I'd be interested in learning more about your magick. I've studied the ancient Jedi texts but there's so much about the Force I still don't know.

[ Surprise shows on her face, her eyebrows raising. The Jedi she's met, with the exception of Cal and Ezra, treat their teachings like gospel. And they have so many rules... ]

[ She says this matter-of-factly, almost mildly. ]

He’s a droid, yes. bigger than Cal’s, obviously, and he functions a little different.

the metal cretures aren't in my world, so iv'e never seen a beady1 before coming here. i didn't know there was another one here. he's bigger than beady? what does he do? does he bite? _{(can robot creatures bite?)}

No, he doesn't bite. He's just got different tools than BD-1. Like people, droids all have different capabilities.

_{[Lerith is a little concerned about being formed that Beebee8 doesn't bite, but it isn't clarified if robots in general can or cannot. He might be a little more cautious around Beady1 until he finds out.]}

oh really? that sounds neat. ididn't know that. what is beebee8 suppoesd to do? does he make pictures out of his head like beady1 does? i sort of want to meet beebee8 now

He does a lot of different things, but he can um, make pictures, just like BD-1 can.

[Lerith feels very silly thinking the robot's name was 'Beady1' instead of 'BD-1' this whole time. If Rey could see him, she'd see just how red his face was, all the way to his pointed ear tips. How embarrassing!]

i don't know what it is called, sorry. is there a different name for the pictures he and bd-1 make? if you're in the tembra city maybe i will see bb-8 soemtime?

I think you're referring to their holographic interfaces, so holograms.

We are usually in Temba, I'm sure you'll be able to spot us when you see us! BB-8's paint job isn't exactly for stealth.

yes that! holgrams. echo has a device that does it too. i have been in the grenhouse lately so if you need herbs you will find me in there. tryign to grow herbs from my world of thedas

I am happy to help; I do have some experience with droids. (Though nothing like Anakin.) Poor BB-8. He deserves to remember everything.

Of course, maybe you'll see something I've missed.
