[Closed] Check Up Time
WHO: Lauri-Ell and Billy
WHERE: Hospital
WHAT: Lauri-Ell Needs A Check-Up
WHEN: Late February
WARNINGS: None
The Ren Faire had truly been an interesting experience for Lauri-Ell. So many tastes, so many sights, so much music. And so many creepy staring people. She had even made a good friend she thought in the young woman Omega.
But there had been repercussions to that, repercussions that had brought her to the hospital today, seeking the young girl out. Yet no matter how much she sought, she could not find her. Perhaps young Omega was going out making those emergency medical kits she had suggested.
Still, she saw someone else, and that was a good thing, because here was one that could help her.
"William," because she had never gotten to calling him Billy, "you possess the medical knowledge, correct? Would you be willing to render me assistance?"

"William," because she had never gotten to calling him Billy, "you possess the medical knowledge, correct? Would you be willing to render me assistance?"

"What's wrong?" he asked, eyes sweeping over her to try and figure out how she'd been injured. "Are you okay?"
no subject
"I sought Omega to ask her to check up on my healing. To ensure there is no infection or illness from it. I fear I may also have reopened the wound recently."
It hadn't occurred to her not to go through her normal activities, and the cloth of the bandaging was indeed stained with dark blue blood.
no subject
"Oh, Lauri-" He sucked air through his teeth in a sympathetic wince, and gently took her hand to remove the bandages. "How did this happen? You have to take it easy when you're hurt like this or it won't heal."
no subject
"There was an archery range. The bows were old, made of wood and string instead of a traditional Kree energy bow."
Yes, of course she was trained in the same sort of weapon Noh-Varr had loaned to to Kate.
"It snapped in my hand. Miss Omega removed the splinters and bound this. I do not believe I was 'taking it hard' though. I was just working normally."
no subject
"You need to be like...watching soap operas in bed and eating chocolate's level of taking it easy," he offered, wetting some gauze and warning- "This might sting-" before swiping it over the wound to help clean and disinfect it.
no subject
"What are soap operas? And I have sampled chocolate, it is too sweet."
She liked bitter. It was a more interesting taste in her books. Still, with the bandaging off even she can see the way the blood has stained her skin. Perhaps he is right. The wounds were not this large when Omega tended them.
What she wasn't prepared for was just how much it stung. The woman jerked her hand back from his, hissing in pain. That was...
"That burns. What did you do?"
no subject
Billy's face twisted apologetically as Lauri pulled away. "I'm sorry- It's a disinfectant. It helps kill the germs, but it also...stings pretty bad. It won't last long-" he promised. He wanted to blow on it like his mother used to when she'd treat his scraped knees, but he knew as comforting as it could be, it only spread more germs.
"So were you having fun at the fair?" he asked instead, trying to distract her, "Besides the bow snapping, obviously."
no subject
"Kree use a device that uses low level radiation to cleanse wounds. This is not how it is done here?"
Nervously she returned her hand. This place really WAS low technology.
"It was interesting. The food was all very good. I tried smithing, it was very pleasing."
no subject
"Mm," Billy shook his head, "No, we're a bit uh...behind the Kree," he agreed, worried she might have to see just how behind as he examined the depth of the wound.
"I can just picture you with the hammer, it sounds like something you'd enjoy," he teased lightly. "I'm glad you've been getting out there and making friends."
no subject
IT had been enjoyable, so she nodded. Perhaps, were Stark not here and were there someone to teach her, she might try to learn. As it was, she continued with her work.
"I have met many people. There is a man named Shiro, he is from Earth. We spoke of the world he was from. And I have spoken to the new Padme on the network. She is very nice."
no subject
"...I need to help the wound close so it can heal. This should numb it," Billy explained, gesturing with the needle he'd prepared, "But I'm not entirely sure how your body will metabolize it..."
no subject
"No, I do not know what you mean with the term. But I trust that what you will do will help me."
The numbing is a good choice.
"If it does not numb me, I shall handle the pain, I promise."
no subject
"We'll have to see if we can get some more high tech stuff when we travel to some fancy world again. Or, you know...figure out how to get some of these machines working," he added with a smile.
no subject
"You are very wise in the ways of the body, William. If these machines will make it better, I shall attempt to see if I can fix the machines?"
no subject
He flushed and tried to shake off the compliment. "I mean not compared to my parents." He smiled though and turned his head curiously, "Yeah? Have you worked with that kind of stuff before?"
no subject
"Wanda is a healer?" she asked, not knowing much of the Kaplans. She had SEEN them at the wedding, but Carol had advised her to give the pair distance.
"I have not, but Kree are technologically advanced compared to humans. I might be able to help."
no subject
He poked the skin around her wound to distract from his words. "...how's that feel?"
no subject
"I do not feel much," she said, a bit shocked.
no subject
"That's good, because I haven't had a lot of practice doing this part yet. I don't know how neat it's going to be," he apologized with a teasing smile.
"It's going to feel a bit weird. But if it starts to hurt I need you to tell me, okay? And try not to move," he warned, pushing the needle through and stealing a glance at Lauri's face to make sure she was all right.
no subject
"How did you learn this skill?"
no subject
no subject
"Yes, I do not feel pain at this juncture. Is this... what the datapoint can give? It seems very practical. More people should have this."
Perhaps her as well?
no subject
"It would be nice, we could definitely use the help. We've been lucky so far that nothing too terrible has happened."
He paused then and glanced up. "Why, are you interested?"
no subject
She would be after the storm.
"Would you be unhappy to teach?"
no subject
no subject
"I would like to try to learn."
Was that enough?
no subject
"Well then you should," he concluded easily, "I can teach you some stuff without the data point if you decide you don't want to switch, and I've got all the books I magicked."
He cleaned the area gently. "I think that should be good. You want to keep it clean. And don't pull at the stitches. We can remove them once it's healed more."
Move to wrap this one so she can seek him out later?
Yeah, when serious she was going to default to that.
<3 Sure <3
"Take care of yourself, Lauri," he said, pointedly over familiar to make up for her formality.
no subject
"I thank you yet again, and will seek you when I have my answer."
