It's a festival today~

It was not every day that there was music just... playing out. So even though it was cold and there was still a fair amount of snow, Shiro decided to head over and take a look at what was making that sound.

...Well, a festival of sorts was not what he was expecting, but he would certainly go with it.

Food
Well, the spread was certainly more exciting than the normal options provided to them. And it looked better than a lot of the food normally did. Couldn't hurt to give it a try. Everything he tried was definitely good as he thought it would be, especially enjoying the langos. But everything also had a very distinct, familiar taste.

"Is that... peanut butter?"

Activities
Shiro wasn't much in crafting, but he would certainly observe other as they were working on things, curious about the different items there.

He did however decide to try out the climbing wall. Even though there was a spotter or any safety lines, he didn't seem too concerned. He'd done worse with as a paladin of Voltron with little there to be able to catch him. He carefully picked his way up the wall, making sure that he had all of the right handholds and footholds before moving up.

Kind of fun actually.

After that, he decided to try out the dummies. "Try out". He had probably enough practice with things like that so he was having to tone it down as he didn't exactly want to damage the dummies. Still, it had been a while since he'd done something like this so it was kind of nice to smack them around with a blunt object.

Bonfire
At night, Shiro could found around the bonfire. With all the seats around, it was a good place to catch up with others. He watched as others tossed the objects on the fire that cause it to temporarily change colors and sparkle, but for the moment, he hadn't done that himself.

"Yeah, you show 'em who's boss!" Cayde called from the side as he came upon Shiro in the training area. He was spinning around one of the daggers from the target range, leaning over a haybale. Set beside him was what looked to be a colorful hand made of wax, poised like a finger gun with a wick poking out from the pointing fingers.

He laughed at that, glancing over at the familiar voice. "It feels good to be able to do this again. Been a while."

He did raise an eyebrow at the candle that was sitting there. Well... if that's what he wanted to make...

He gave the dummy a smack.

"You tried this yet?"

Cayde had been...busy. Don't question his life decisions.

"Me? Oh no. Is it fun? If they were filled with candy like piñatas I'd be all over it," he said with a smirk.

All the judging! Actually, no, none of the judging. Shiro was not in a position to judge other people's life choices.

"It's fun to me, but it would certainly be more amusing if you got something for hitting it." Better incentive. Shiro paused for a moment and simply poked the dummy.

"Not as challenging when they're just sitting there," Cayde nodded. "How's the balance on those things?" He stuck the dagger into the hay next to his hand candle and went over to pick up one of the swords.

"The daggers aren't that great either but if this is all from the Agrii then they probably just copied what they thought looked good."

"Hmm... that is true. The Altean training dummy fought back. We got beat up a lot by that thing." Ah, the good old days...

"Could be better. It's decent enough that I don't think I'm going to energy myself with it, but the weight is not where I was expecting."

He nodded. "It kind of does seem like the person who made these did it for looks and not functionality."

"This thing feels all kinds of sloppy," the Exo muttered as he gave the sword a test swing. He turned it this way and that, still looking uncertain about the whole thing.

"Got Guardians back home who carry swords as big as them and look just as unwieldy," he laughed. Turning towards Shiro, he brought the blade up. "Have at thee? -head's up but I am not a sword-guy."

Food

Langos was almsot familiar to Lark. Things like these came from the kitchens at times, and they were a delight, especially with berries. But this one, Lark smiled at it and Shiro's comment.

"Is that what it's called? It tastes so wonderful."

Peanuts weren't exactly the most common where she'd lived.

Shiro had had similar things to langos before but he had never really had that exact thing. It was a pleasant surprise even if the subtle taste of peanut butter caught him off guard. He glanced over at Lark as she spoke and smiled.

"Yeah. It's a dish on my world. Not sure if its common elsewhere. But it is essentially a paste made from peanuts. My teammate Pidge really likes it."

She'd probably love all the stuff on offer here.

"How have you been?"

"We have some peanuts, but I don't think anyone's thought of making them a paste," Lark said. This was clearly a bad choice, because the stuff was lovely, and peanuts were full of good things like protein.

"Well. I have spent much time making things from the wool you've collected. It's been nice, making clothes again. ANd no one has been hurt enough for me to need to make bandages and the like."

"It is pretty good. Some versions of it are more of a smooth consistency while some put peanuts in it. Either way, can't really go wrong with it."

Just... odd to find randomly in some of the dishes here.

"Well, it is good that your services haven't been called on for bandages. Clothes though, have you been able to make a lot of them?"

"I should like to try this sometime," she said, smiling at the idea. "It sounds like a delight, especially if it tastes like this. It's good with a rich chicken stew. Peanuts that is."

Clothing, she nods a bit over that.

"I've been doing most of my weaving by magic at this point. It takes a lot of energy, but Bear draws me out of my spell work when I need it, and Tony was not wrong in telling me that there is plenty here to help protect me, so that being low on my magic may not be so dangerous here as it would be there."

"I think the ships have something that at least simulates it, but it's not quite the same as actual peanut butter. Since they seem to like peanut butter so much, there might be some real stuff here or might be able to get it."

Shiro nodded. "That's good at least that being low on magic is not such a problem. If you need my assistance, you can always ask."

Bonfire

[Keith flopped into the seat next to Shiro. He'd actually spent a good portion of the day smacking dummies around as well, and it had felt good. He was tired, but in a good way. He had a couple of the color changers with him to toss into the fire, and he held out one to Shiro.]

Care to try? I think I grabbed one of each color, but I'm not sure. So, I have no idea what this'll do.

[Shiro glanced over as Keith sat down next to him, giving him a smile. He was always glad to see Keith. He could certainly attest that smacking round the dummy was tiring but in a good sort of way.

He glanced as Keith offered him one of the color changers]

Thanks. Yeah, I'll give it a try. [He did toss it in, watching as the fire changed colors for the moment] Do anything interesting today?

Hung around the fair mostly. Though, I'm gonna be going hunting with Gladio later. Who knows how long that farm will sustain us if the population here grows a lot, so we need to start figuring out what's out there that we can use to take care of that sort of thing.

[Keith shrugged a bit.]

I did it with Moonshade, too, while she was still here. I'm not a fan of the cleaning and butchering part, [He made a face.] but it's kind of necessary right now.

So, the dummies there for the mock combat... they were kind of useful. Though, no where near as useful as the gladiator bots on the Castle's training deck.

Sounds like a good plan. Probably a good thing to at least find out more about. Seems like there should be some things out there in a space this large. Yeah, I don't blame you about the butchering part. Doesn't sound like the most enjoyable part about it.

[He nodded] I kind of felt the same way about them. Nice, but not as good as the Altean bots.

[Keith smiled a little.] Yeah... but it's definitely something. And it's something I can do without needing one of those data points, so... Might as well do what I can, right?

[He chuckled, though.] I don't know if we'll ever be able to get one of those here. That box where you can request stuff is kinda small for it.

[He nodded] Pretty simple to do, yeah. Considering how good you are with a sword, it should be too much of a problem to go hunting. Let me know how it goes. Maybe I'll join you next time if you need more people.

It would have to be really small...

Bonfire

The bonfire was definitely on Lance's to-do list, so it was inevitable that he made his way there later in the day. Familiar white hair catches his eye, and he waves, jogging his way over and taking a seat next to his fellow paladin.

"Shiroooo, what's up?"

He had been looking at the fire when he heard the sound of someone jogging over, his gaze turning that direction. He smiled and waved back.

"Hey Lance. Nothing much. How are you?"

[the_tailor]

"Pretty good," he responds with a nod. "Having a lot of fun today. I mean, who's gonna complain about a fair? Especially with a ton to do!"

He smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. Yeah, this was pretty nice. Not something that happens often. It would be nice if they had more things like this and less like the crazy things."

And maybe less food that tasted vaguely like peanut butter.

"What all did you do?"

[the_tailor]

"Kicked ass at archery, that's what I did."

He provides his signature finger-guns. And...Shiro doesn't need to know about how bad Tommy trolled him. Lance was a total awesome badass, okay?

"Made some drinks and ate a bunch of food, too... Kinda did a bit of everything."

"As I would have expected."

Whether he had suspected anything to the contrary or not, he's going to go with it and take Lance at his word.

"Sounds like fun... Is it just me or did most of the food taste slightly like peanut butter?"
