[Where did he even start with this?

He wore a pair of white-rimmed sunglasses even though he was indoors, and he raised his right arm, showing off the splint he was wearing on his forearm. It wasn't the same as a cast, he didn't know if it did the job as well, but it was the best he had.]

I've been dealing with this shit for a while. Is there a hospital here? Anyone who knows what they're doing with medical shit?

[He should probably clarify better-]

It's broken.

[And it was far more important than the cut on his other arm, which had more or less healed already thanks to the weird shit that had been going on most of the last few weeks. He was worried it was going to scar, but he'd also rather have a scar than a broken arm.]

Been that way for a while. A few weeks? Something like that.

I don't like asking for help, but-

[He shrugged, dropping his arm out of frame. After a moment's pause, he ended the video.]

Yeah, I've been thinking about that.

[About it healing improperly. He didn't know if it was or wasn't at the moment, but the idea of having to break it again to set it properly didn't...really appeal to him.]

Is a sling much better than having just a splint?

[On the one hand he wouldn't turn down help, on the other, he didn't want to be a pain in the ass and waste time if the hospital was going to fix all of his troubles.]

I'll check out the hospital first and then let you know, about having a sling.

It depends on where and how the bone is broken. Sometimes you want both, if you can't otherwise hold it still.

[Well, shit. He knew where the bone was broken but not how. Assuming how meant if it was just a fracture or something else. He wasn't an expert in broken bones.]

If I get a cast or something, would a sling still be a good idea?

It may well be. It is something we would do in my world. But I am given to believe that I'm from a less advancedtime.

[He made a thoughtful noise.]

I wouldn't turn down something that could help.

[At least when it was just a sling. He'd probably get tired of it after a few days, but maybe he wouldn't.]

[He didn't like saying 'thank you', or 'please', or even 'I'm sorry', but he made an exception for this moment. Sometimes, manners were important. Sometimes, they could make you friends.]

I have known many people for whom that is true. Even I, growing up, found myself preferring to rely on fewer people. It came with being a traveling performer. People did not always wish us well.

A traveling performer, huh? Like singing or dancing? Story-telling?

[He narrowly avoided adding 'stripping?' because he realized that probably wouldn't win him any points. Sometimes he did have a brain-to-mouth filter.]

Why wouldn't people like that?

I was an acrobat, though I did some low level dancing too.

[Come now, she wasn't talented for that particular line of work. She was happy with what she did anyway. Though she had no shame, in her age or before, at the pleasures of flesh.]

Because people fear that which is different, as well as have opinions on what is and isn't proper behavior. Some came to watch us perform, some denounced us as immoral or against their religious beliefs.

[He was still confused about how people could dislike acrobats but 'they fear that which is different' resonated with him. He knew it better than some, even if he kept it a secret from most people.]

A lot of religious people suck. I guess some things are the same no matter where you're at.

[Of course he could also just broaden that to 'a lot of people suck' and it would also be accurate.]

Being an acrobat sounds cool, though. I've never been that flexible.

[Well, her world was stuck in far older thought processes than others. In her world performers tended to come from elsewhere, and were often seen as 'subvesive elements' or just foreigners. And morally loose. It was all a thing.]

I must warn you, I am a religious person, though the Circle tends to be more open and welcoming. Ours is a belief in the balance of all things.

The flexibility can be trained. It will never be quite the same if not trained from childhood, but it is still a learned thing.

I said 'a lot' not 'all'.

[He didn't think every single person in the world who was religious sucked, just the ones who were the loudest about putting others down and blaming it on their religions. He tried not to be too judgmental of others, himself.]

So what you're saying is, if I really wanted to, I could become a flexible acrobat, too.

[Alright, so he wasn't thinking about becoming flexible for acrobatic reasons--more like what sex positions he could get into, but. He was still considering learning something new.]

[Well, at least he believed that there could be a difference between religious sorts. That meant he had a mind which would let him evaluate before he judged, and that was valuable.]

Yes, if you really wanted to. I could teach you some if you wish.

Maybe after my arm's not broken.

[He didn't want to push his luck, if he was being honest.]

Stretching and shit sounds like it'd be awful right now.

[And...whatever else was involved with becoming more flexible. Fuck if he knew.]

Oh yes, you'd definitely want to be healthier if we ever wanted to do lessons. Better not to upset your arm.
