With your face all made up, living on a screen
WHO: Kaz Brekker and you?
WHERE: Temba
WHAT: Around Temba
WHEN: Beginning of October
WARNINGS: None anticipated but TBD
Inn/Diner
Kaz hadn't been to the Diner much to begin with but when he finally did go, it was because he couldn't stand on his bad leg long enough to make coffee for himself. As the seasons changed and it became cooler, the pain of Kaz's bad leg was again made worse, but this time when he went to the diner it was mostly for convenience sake rather than being in pain. Though Kaz pulled a second chair over to another so that he could sit down and still prop his leg up.
"Just black coffee for me."
Beach Cave (For Drake)
Technically you can avoid the sandy beach, Kaz did, but it would mean needing to use a flashlight. If you're coming in from the beach side there should be enough light to see from the sunlight alone, but the caves were a bit higher up and there were the waves were smashing themselves into white-capped breakers and the spray would occasionally be carried on the wind over the rocks.
Kaz was sitting in front of what looked like a geode. If a geode were the lower half of a wall of rock anyway. He was sitting lotus-style in front of it with his cane and smartphone neatly laid alongside him, and a beige tote bag with the pink, three-eyed smiley face the Agrii used beside him as well. He had been making power crystals, and there were some peeking out of the bag already.
Greenhouse
Kaz was here picking some sort of fruit used for Spiderbite Salve. As the weather became cooler he had started wearing his waistcoat and suit jacket again. He was made conspicuous by the fact he was still leaning on his cane as he methodically took the fruit and put it into the beige tote bag hanging from his right shoulder. As he was doing so, a fruit slipped from his grasp and rolled to the feet of someone nearby.
The Deep End
As the seasons changed the cold was making Kaz's leg ache and Omega's salve only helped to a point. Right now Kaz was falling back on the pain relief that he'd used for years; whiskey. There was a seat for himself and his bad leg propped on another. His cane was also leaned against the table next to him. At the moment he was still looking at his smartphone, but also had a bottle of whiskey at his elbow and a half-full shot glass in front of him.

Deep End
Even as she came through the door Lark saw the large wolfhound-like dog race off to find the nearest person to beg for pets from, and it turned out the answer was Kaz. The big dog sat beside him, tail thumping on the floor as he looked up with a doggy smile.
"Little Bear, it is not polite to bother him," Lark noted as she approached her dog and the familiar man. "Kaz, good evening. Forgive Little Bear. While he's used to the children not being around, he still aches for attention."
no subject
"Well I'm looking at it but it seems like it wants something else."
Kaz was at least being responsive to Lark?
no subject
"May I join you for a few minutes? He'll probably sit at my feet."
no subject
"If you like. Fair warning that I'm not much for 'small talk'."
no subject
"I was not suggesting small talk. I wished to know how your shirt is working for you. Is it doing what you needed?"
no subject
"It kept me from sweating to death in the summer heat. I haven't had occasion to test out whether or not it's actually bulletproof, but I do feel reassured that it's there. As the weather has turned colder I've been wearing a jacket with it, though. I'm wondering how well it will hold up to wintry weather."
no subject
"I am not certain how it will do. While it seems comparable to silk in many ways, I have not had cause to test how well it does for warmth. I do have a good deal of glownie wool to work with, though. If you find that does not suffice, I may be able to see a sweater knit for you."
no subject
"Part of what made the shirt so functional is that it did not stand out from what I usually wear. I think a sweater would. I'm curious if you're taking over the spider silk manufacturing now?"
no subject
As for the silk, well, Lark sighed.
"No. I need to spend so much time on working on spinning the wool and silk I already have, and weaving it into cloth I don't have the time for handling that on my own. I think I won't even be able to continue dye research."
no subject
And Kaz was fairly sure he'd look foolish trying to wear one. He is embracing the 'steampunk gangster' look but his own vanity might be playing a role in there.
"All the more reason to hold onto the shirt I have, then. How much thread do you have now?"
no subject
She had no control over anyone.
"More every day as I spin it. There are those I'm teaching to spin as well."
The more hands that worked spinning in their free time, the better for them all.
no subject
And for a moment a glint in his eye might look vaguely like amusement.
"I'd still be interested in your ability to use thread that others have carried around with them for tracking. When last we spoke of it you said that you did not have much in the way of thread yet. But this ability could become very handy if you were searching for a specific person."
no subject
"Those that have asked I have provided spools for so they can return them to me. I've kept them in a secure box. Sadly I don't have the sorts of woods I'd want to seal it against magic and other influence but one makes do."
