Cockpit

When she's not fiddling around in other parts of the ship, the top half of her uniform peeled back and the sleeves tied around her waist, Jadzia will often join Bucky in the cockpit of the ship. Like him, she has the engineering skill that she acquired from the data point, and like him, she's frustrated she can't fly the ship. She grew up in and around starships; she feels it's not unreasonable that she should be able to pilot one with a bit of trial and error to see how the controls work.

Unfortunately, things don't seem to work that way around here.

In lieu of trying to get the old bird off the ground, the duo have decided to put their heads together to figure out a) where that damn beeping is coming from and b) if they can do something to stop it.

"Maybe this conduit," she says mostly to herself, waist-deep inside an access panel underneath the control console. "Bucky, try restarting the calibration sequence, would you?"

"Yes, ma'am," Bucky murmurs, as cheerfully as he can while that goddamn beeping is still... well, beeping. He runs the sequence, and - "Wait. Wait, I think it almost stopped for a second."

He strains his ears, but it's back to doing its same old beeping thing. He bites back a curse (he tries not to curse so much in front of women, although mostly that habit died when he did, the first time) and leans over, head sideways as he peers at what she's doing. "Try the one next to it. Maybe we're close."

He sure hopes they're close.
