[the feed turns on to show Starling, dressed for field work, her hair back in a ponytail, a bag in front of her on the bed. she's packing it as she speaks: water, snacks, twine, scissors, smaller bags, jars wrapped in bits of rag so they won't clink together]
Hey, folks. I'm gonna take the train out to the other city and see if there's anything good we can use at the diner, or if there's anything I might need to tend to in terms of crops. Anyone feel like comin' along? Might need an Engineer, at the very least.
Also, for those've you who've been here a while ... how'd you figure out what we could eat without keelin' over? I'd love suggestions. I know Dr. Riley has a pretty fancy sensor array he brought back from Coruscant, but I have a feelin' that's more for geological stuff than agriculture. I'd hate to come up with somethin' and then kill you all. Kind of the opposite of what we go for here: you're all such nice, polite folks.
[she smiles a little bit: the smile people give at inside jokes when there's no one else around who would get them]
Anyways, give a holler if you wanna join me, I think I'll go out on the next train.

[ Ikora turns the camera slightly to show her Ghost hovering near-by. He bobs in the Ghost version of a wave. ]
Hello.

[after a beat]
Hi, Ophiuchus.
Video
About the food...For the plants, to know what's safe to eat, it helps checking if the animals here would also eat them.
no subject
[she loves all the kids here, but she's developing a soft spot for this one]
I don't know about your animal idea, though, honey ... we don't want to make too many of them sick. Unless you're meaning they might instinctually not wanna eat things, in which case ... maybe.
no subject
Oh no, I meant watching what the animals eat, not giving them food on purpose. I don't want them to feel unwell because of us. [ But after considering his own suggestion and her reasoning, Alberto scrunchie up his nose. ] I keep forgetting that the animals here are also aliens, so what's fine for them, it might make us sick too. [ ... ] Then I've got nothing, sorry.
[ His method is eating things that look tasty and hope they won't kill him. Don't be like him, Clarice. ]

[Clarice smiles: she doesn't want him to feel discouraged in the least, especially since he was smart enough to realize that the animals weren't a safe comparison not long after his initial idea]
Besides, a friend of mine told me that my datapoint lets me know what we can eat. Which - I did not know, but it's good news.
video;
As for food, after touching the agriculture datapoint it's like, I feel like generally I know if something is super poison? At least I'm guessing that's how I'm not dead yet.
Re: video;
What happens with the bubble gum olives?

Uh. It's, uh. Basically Molly.

What? Of course! It's not like... heroin.
Video (He sees you Kyle)
Seconding the Agriculture datapoint thing. It's how the few of us that took it at the start made sure people can eat. It works in Not-Temba too. Promise. I've been over there.
Kyle and I worked some on bringing cuttings back, but I'm sorta temporarily out of commission on that. I'll cover your diner shifts.
omg boys
There's a story here, isn't there, hon. Is it connected to why you're laid up? Everything okay?
no subject
There's TOTALLY a story there. Actually there's a story in both things. But they are not connected. I'm fine. Recovering. Some muscle issues because of a broken bone that isn't broken anymore. Just taking some chill time. I'll get better.
Also, think about wedding reception foods btw. Apparently there's gonna be one and I hope you're smarter than me on helping with a menu

Man alive. I take my eyes off you and you break bones. ;) I'm glad it wasn't too bad, though, and you're restin'.
Who's getting married?!
no subject
Well it mostly came from trying to keep Billy's eyes off of me. Yeah yeah, you can start into the 'be responsible and talk to your brother properly'. I'm an idiot, I know.
Keith and Lance. They were apparently back with that fleet the Atroma kept. Keith's like a brother from another mother. So, like, trying to support him. ANd Lance was a farming buddy for mine for a long time.

I've used the agricultural data point so I have some information about the plant life, but I will admit I haven't been here long enough to see some of things that they have brought in.
