Closed Second Date

WHO: Cobb Vanth, Din Djarin, & Grogu
WHERE: Cobb's house.
WHAT: Two old space cowboys have a second date.
WHEN: Early evening
WARNINGS: None

There was a whole lot going on with a new city and the whole business with the ships. It had delayed Cobb’s plans slightly but hadn’t derailed them. A day or so later than they had originally planned he and Din managed to actually have dinner. The slight delay had also worked in Cobb’s favor, giving him a little more time to make a privacy screen that would let Din eat with him while still keeping his face hidden.

He’d even rigged up a high chair for the kid so he could be comfortable at the table. Maybe it was a little too much extra work but well it was the right thing to do.

Cobb cooked dishes close to what he could make back home. The main dish had taken him two tries to get right because he’d never cooked fish before. It was the most plentiful protein they had though thanks to Alberto. He was confident this time it wasn’t rubbery and overcooked. It was a nice spicy thick stew with flatbread and some sliced vegetables with a drizzle of oil. Simple, easy. He wasn’t trying to impress anyone.

Okay, maybe he was a little.

Cobb told himself he was too old to get nervous about dinner with the man he fancied but he was a little nervous anyway. Just a little. He was courting a Mandalorian. He had a rough idea from talking to Din that there weren’t many ways for him to screw this up but well… It was important to him. Din and his little green kid were important to him.

He stood outside his house a little before the agreed upon time. His house wasn’t in the best condition but it was decent enough to have guests. They’d have a nice dinner and talk. Cobb was really looking forward to the simple pleasure of spending time with Din. He had learned a long time ago that the simple things like that mattered the most.

“Hey partner,” he said, standing up a little straighter when he spotted Din walking towards him.

Not to mention the whole thing with the kids in the mines. Although it was hard to stay annoyed at them, when what they did was ultimately a good thing.

After twenty plus years of nothing real serious, the thought of being seriously courted was still an odd one. Yet, being in this city is giving a chance. He didn't need to be on edge all the time, watching over his shoulder. It also being Cobb, made it feel right. The man had already shown how much he cared about Din what his creed means to him. More importantly what Grogu meant to him, too. It almost felt like being back in Mos Pelgo again, where he'd been relatively relaxed.

But this date was new, it was serious. Unlike the first one. His armor wasn't super shined, but it was cleaned up. Suit clean(because he does do laundry, tyvm). He'd also fidgeted with Grogu's robes, to make sure they at least looked good.

"Ready, Grogu?" He'd asked the kid, before they headed out for Cobb's place. And maybe he was asking for himself too. Making sure he was ready. Not a lot made him nervous, but he could feel something close to it. Tonight was supposed to be good, and relaxing, Eating and teaching sign language, some talking. No reasons to be anxious. He really iss looking forward to spending time with Cobb, and Grogu. While the rest of the city had sort of become his new covert. These two were his main clan.

"Cobb." He greeted evenly enough, not letting onto any nerves he may have been feeling. Acting natural. Carrying Grogu in one arm(or maybe on a shoulder). "Been waiting long?" He asks, even if they were a bit ahead of the agreed upon time.

"Didn't want to keep you waiting." Din offered in return. Usually deadlines, or times, didn't matter. But this was different. "Yes." Din glances at Grogu when the kid is talked to. "Seems we need to keep a better eye on the kids here." Part of him is kind of proud, but the parent side of him thinks it was wrong.

Grogu for his part waved, and made a happy sound at Cobb, looking a little smug. Like he had no regrets, about what he and his friends did. Nope. It's not like they caused the mines to collapse or anything. Plus dad's been happier since it was found out the ships were now flyable.

"I'm sure it'll look as nice, when you're done." Din says, as he and Grogu take the inside of the house in. Honestly, after having lived out of a sewer for a number of years, anything is pretty nice. "This already looks nice, compared to places I've lived." His helmet tilts as he takes in the table, and the divider. He nods in approval

"Tea for both of us." Din responds easily, setting Grogu down in the tall chair. "This looks nice, Cobb. Thank you." He motions to the table, but in particular the divider.
