Arrival

Padme takes a deep breath as she steps off the train. She's dressed for travel and exploration. A form-fitting jumpsuit with a cloak slung around her shoulders. Her hair is braided and strung in loops to keep it out of the way. She lifts a bag to her shoulder as she looks around. Is this a good idea? It's a little too late to back out, now. She has to trust that her children will be safe... of course they will be, how can she think otherwise? They are with people she trusts. If she's going to help, she has to understand this world and what she can do. She can't do that if she spends all of her time holed up with her babies.

No. This is good. Nodding to herself, she looks around and tries to figure out where she should go first.

Museum

There was much that could be learned from a museum. Learning the history of this place could be just as valuable as learning about the current state of things. The knees of her clothes are streaked with dirt from kneeling on the floor and sifting through what artifacts she could find.

Around Town

While Padme can be found just about anywhere, she spends a great deal of time just walking around town. She's trying to take everything in, to absorb the state of things and what could and should be done next. At any given day she can be found just about anywhere. Occasionally she can be spotted looking at her communicator. What? She can't call and see how her babies are doing, she's worried...

Ezra catches Padme looking at the communicator (yet again) and well, what she's feeling isn't exactly a quiet sort of emotion.

"I'm pretty sure if something was really wrong, Obi-wan could get the feeling across to me, although maybe not much clearer than that," the teenager tried to reassure her. "I mean, he and I haven't really tried before, but the range I can pick up things from people I know well is...pretty far."

He's less sure Obi-wan would think to use their bond that way, and either way, there's only so fast they could back to Temba. He knows Padme knows that second part, logically speaking. But still, a potential avenue of communication is something.

Padme gives Ezra a sheepish look. "I'm sorry, this is just the first time I've been away from them like this. Mother's nerves."

Tucking the communicator away, she takes a breath and nods. "But you're right. I trust Obi-Wan. I know they're safe with him. Thank you, Ezra. It helps to know there's a way for him to reach us if he needs to."

"Hey, you're their mom, so I'm not going to say I get it, exactly. But I worry about them, too," he tells her, with an encouraging smile.

She smiles, "Thank you, Ezra." Waving a hand, she shakes her head. "But enough of that. Why don't you tell me about this city."

"It's really different. Not just the wildlife, but the buildings. Different enough it feels like maybe a whole other culture? I'm not sure what to think. Especially since they found a hangar with ships here, too."

"It's all very curious. Why give us access to this city now? I wonder who used to live here and what the connection is." She looks around, taking everything in.

"I want to say 'because there's more of us' - we did find a a hangar with more ships. But there's got to more to it than that, right?"

She nods, pursing her lips as she thinks. "I doubt it's as simple as that. If that were the case, wouldn't they have made the ships easier to access?"

There is a lot to explore around this city but the museum offers a welcome respite after an afternoon of trying to find his way around.

"Stay close, D" he snaps his fingers softly to keep the hound close just as she started to run forward. Museums were the best place to learn what people truly valued and wanted to preserve, an insight as to what they considered important.

He was lost in thought as he wandered so it takes him a moment to stop himself to keep from running into Padme as he rounded a corner. "Ah pardon me, I wasn't expecting anyone else to be interested in relics."

Padme gasped at the sudden appearance of another person. She'd been lost in thought, so she hadn't noticed his approach.

Pressing a hand to her chest, she laughed. "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I've been researching what history I can find to try to better understand the people."

"I've only been able to find some fragments here and there- I think there was a lot that was damaged."

He leans over a little to pick up a piece of what looks like a stone tablet, carefully leaning on his cane.

"Their past was important to them if they kept things like this."

"I'm finding much the same." She shakes her head sadly. She'd wished she could find more.

Watching him, she was pleased to see someone else who's interested in such things. "I was thinking that, too. All the more reason to try to save what we can, don't you think?"

"I haven't seen any kind of record detailing what's here so cataloging everything ourselves may be the only way we can keep track."

And given that he was spending most of his time sitting around, for the time being, he could at least keep busy in some way. "Though given the size of this place it won't be an easy task."

She nods. "My thoughts, too. After looking around, it seems that others have a handle on the other areas of the city. My skills can be put to use here."

His observation is a valid one. Tilting her head, she smiles. "You're correct. Perhaps some more hands would make this an easier task."

"I can't say I want to spend a lifetime here." As if on cute a large hound rounded the corner, her ears perked up as she joined Rufus, staring at Padme though made no aggressive move. Rufus only idly scratches her between the ears as he speaks, his attention on Padme.

"I still have to explore the rest of the city but for now, quiet is nice to have." He can tackle other projects later, he has a great deal of free time on his hands.
