Not!Temba: better mind how you walk through

WHO: Kyle "ky-el" Broflovski and YOU!
WHERE: Not!Temba
WHAT: Exploring the Agricultural Building, University/Library and Alien Target 2: Electric Boogaloo.
WHEN: Latter half of July
WARNINGS: Bad language, general outlandish idiocy

Agricultural Building

In spite of every plan he ever had growing up in a redneck mountain town, Kyle has basically become a farmer. It's almost laughable, really. Still, he takes his job seriously and so he'll often be found systematically working his way through the Agricultural Building cataloguing plants, taking sample, and eventually harvesting things to take back to Temba.

He's easy to spot amongst all the green - a pop of red against the leaves and vines. Plus he'll wave at you if he sees you.

At some point he'll also be peering into the tubes that lead to the livestock nursery, clearly intending to investigate. Weaponless.

University/Library

Creeping through what's left of library requires some caution considering the state of the place. Kyle's inside, looking for books or some sort of readable data, and likely to be scared to death if you come up behind him. Hopefully he doesn't trip over something and conk himself on the head.

Inside the university he can be found prowling the halls, peeking into classrooms. "Dude," he mutters half to himself and half to anybody around. "This? This shit is how Japanese horror games start."

Alien Target 2

Fashion has never been his strong suit. Not that it should be a priority on an abandoned alien planet, but even if it were he'd be hopeless. As it is, he's wandering the aisles looking for clothes reminiscent of earth. There's what appears to be a changing room and for whatever reason he feels compelled to use it instead of just trying alien!sweaters on in the aisles. Alien!sweaters that are less alien than usual...

He also goes in search of gardening tools, which means he winds up in another aisle hefting rakes and shovels, occasionally swinging them like a baseball or imaginary sword. Because, you know. He's easily amused.

Cayde-6 isn't here for fashion, not when he considers his own Hunter gear suitable enough. He's still looking for fun and interesting things however, stuff to use at the bar or toys for the kiddies.

Of course the layout of the place is completely different from the other store back in Temba, so he's in the process of looking for the kitchen and home decor section when he spies the kid waving around garden tools like a weapon. "You show those weeds who's boss!"

Whoops. The Exo winces a little at Kyle's response. Yeah, that could've gone better. He's vaulting over to see if the guy needs a hand, but at least Kyle's managed to avoid a more embarrassing fall.

"Oh no, it's fine. Gotta have some fun around here, right?" Cayde looks down at the small box of random odds and ends he's collected. "Weeeell... I dunno about good, really, but one can never have too many cups."
deal_me_in: (Then I shot that guy)

The Hunter beams. "Got it in one."

Travel container do sound like they'd come in handy though. "Good idea. Sure won't hurt to look." He pauses, metal brow lifting at the rake.

"Oh- no, wasn't questioning it. Wasn't too bad a swing either- not that I'm a...rake person, mind. Or a sword guy either, handy as they are."
deal_me_in: (So everything is gone)

Cayde snappoints at Kyle then. "Now that is more my thing," he chuckles, patting the hand cannon holstered at his hip. "You ever need some pointers you look me up. I needa teach Richie how to not shoot his own hand off anyway."

He looks down the way Kyle points, giving a nod. "Assuming we find anything that resembles either of those. Who knows if anyone went camping around here?" Another reminder of how little they actually knew about life on Temba.

"Oh yeah. It really is. Kinda familiar too though. I wonder..."

"Ikora's more the shotgun person. I kind of prefer keeping my targets at a distance," he smirks. "But the offer still stands."

Cayde starts to wander down the aisle, keeping his optics peeled for anything that might look interesting or useful. More so the former, in his case. "Well, the Agrii haven't really struck me as the sort to be into torture so I'm assuming furniture or otherwise that we find must have some kind of functional purpose. ...although this place doesn't seem very...Agrii-sized, right? Or is that just me?"

He waves his free hand around. "Wonder about like...the way the buildings are and stuff? I swear I've seen something like it before."
deal_me_in: (Don't know don't care)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-07-20 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Learning how to use a weapon isn't anything Cayde'd force anyone to do, but he doesn't think it'd be bad to be at least a little prepared for when things go pear-shaped. They've had way too many giant bug infestations in the past too. He nods at Kyle.

"Oh yeah. I'm from Earth, I've seen ruins. This stuff though? More the way they're constructed- it's like...rock paste. No, that's not right- more like...someone just melted things together." He stops, tapping a finger against his chin, brow furrowed.
deal_me_in: (That's good right?)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-07-20 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't seem too surprised to hear Kyle's from Earth. That made for about fifty percent of the people in Temba, really. "Probably, yeah." Hopefully not exactly, considering the things that potentially happen between Kyle's era and what Cayde knows.

"Not something I've seen on Earth...it was..." Right at the tip of his figurative tongue, but as Kyle goes perusing the clothes, the Exo looks over. "Four. Why? -hang on..." He starts over by him to have a look for himself.

"...dude," Cayde concurs.

"Okay, this may be a wild thought but what if this city wasn't an Agrii city?"
deal_me_in: (So everything is gone)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-07-21 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Cayde sets down his box to start digging through more clothes. "Yeah, it would. But see, that's my point. I mean, there is clearly a connecting transport between these two cities, unless they never used them? For some reason?" He tosses some clothes over his shoulder in his frustration.

"So you tell me- why wouldn't the Agrii already know that there's another city here and who used to live here? Bizarre, right? From Gary's announcement, this is a completely new discovery even for them. But they still know about the train thing enough to have gotten it fixed."
deal_me_in: (Worse case - you die)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-07-21 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Cayde says, ceasing digging through clothes in some search for at least some four-armed garment. "I think... Okay no, I don't know what I think. That is an interesting thought though, and as good as any idea we've had about well, anything."

He waves his hands around as though to clear the air in order to prepare the space for a new set of details. "So I don't think it's that old, and there are others in agreement with this thought. I have seen cities and ruins that are centuries old, and this stuff by comparison looks new. Well not literally- there is obviously the general wear and tear of abandoned city everywhere, but for the most part? Stuff is still in relatively good condition.

"Now, all this time we've believed that this whole planet is basically Agrii territory- which when you think about it, isn't really based on anything except for our limited knowledge of what? One abandoned city and the story the Agrii have told us. Although to be fair, I gotta wonder if we'd get any useful information out of them. After Gary's reaction to this whole thing? It's like, just when you think you're getting somewhere and-" He splays his fingers as he mimics an exploding sound.
deal_me_in: (Worse case - you die)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-07-21 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Anyone would want to get their home back if they could, kid. But I have to wonder what happened to whoever lived here. The Agrii got some help off world by the ones that screwed things up for them, but did these guys here leave before or after that?"

Letting Kyle rummage through clothes, Cayde flopped down to sit beside the display, picking up some of the stuff he'd tossed earlier. "The whole train thing is throwing me. The tracks have been there as long as anything else, possibly, but how no one local might have gone on it is kind of crazy, right?"

He pauses, spinning a finger in the air. "Let's play back on that rift idea. The Agrii have been pulling us in and out of different times, and we even traveled to a planet in the past of a majority of the people who would've otherwise known the place. SO-

"What if the Agrii themselves aren't from this time? Maybe they got their time coordinates screwy? Or, or, maybe they're some different generation of Agrii that were like, I dunno kids of the original survivors that fled from the planet in the first place. I mean, that'd account for them not knowing very much of anything."

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-07-21 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sentient crazy trains? Sounds like I've been missing out on the fun books. Then again I doubt the Speaker would've ever had those in his library, heh..."

Cayde looks over at Kyle and his sweater of choice. "Eh, not ugly. Definitely looks better than some of the shader combinations I've seen some Guardians go with," he chuckles. He holds up another shirt he'd picked up. "Are these human-proportions?"

Oh, but he'll never get tired of someone telling him he's smart, probably because it doesn't happen very often. "I know," he preens. But in this situation he thinks the points made are pretty valid, and with Kyle's add-ons, he nods. "But yeah, makes sense, right? All this time business just gives me a headache. It's like we were looking at something in 2D and then you throw in the time angle and it's blown up to like, five or something."
deal_me_in: (That moment when you think...)

[personal profile] deal_me_in 2021-07-21 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That gets a laugh from the Exo. "Who, the Speaker? Nah, but he was pretty much head of whatever amounts to our leadership for the City. I used to sneak into his library and um, borrow books when he wasn't looking."

His folding job is less neat than Kyle's and comes undone anyway once he tosses it up onto the display table he's sitting against. "I can agree with that. You think too much on things and how they work and you have to wonder- is it worth it? Now Warlocks? That's what they do. They like thinking about all the mysteries of the universe sorta crap. Me? I like things straight forward. Which his what makes it all very frustrating here, by the way. No obvious target to shoot so we can fix the problem, you know?"

He blinks, lifting his head and glancing over his shoulder at Kyle again then. "Who, Billy? How's that even-" His thoughts divert a moment to the impossible things the kid's pulled off, quickly shaking his head as though to dislodge those points. "-yeah don't answer that. But no, I get'cha. Really, how's anyone supposed to take someone saying something like that?"
