Not-Temba exploration week 1; OTA

WHO: Kaz and any folks in Not-Temba
WHERE: Lots of places in Not-Temba
WHAT: First week of exploring Not-Temba
WHEN: 7/18 - 7/24
WARNINGS: Blanket warning that Kaz is a dick

Agriculture Building

Since foraging for food was of the utmost importance as far as Kaz was concerned he was starting here. It was so dense with overgrown plants that parts looked like an indoor forest. At the bottom there wasn't much light at all and based on the flowering plants that were still here, it must have been used to cultivate night-blooming flowers. A little way up, and with the sunlight strength that very definitely meant 'day' for anything planted in here, It was so dense with not just plants but trees.

Because Kaz used a cane to walk, it was surprising that he would even be able to navigate the overgrowth to begin with. But he picked up the cane and though he had a lopsided gait, he was agile enough that he could use the cane's handle as a hook and use the assisted jump to go over some clumped branches or just side-step other obstacles. It was a maze to get through and more than once Kaz debated going back. But he persevered and eventually came to be standing in a sunbeam that had managed to find its way to the third floor ground level, despite the vines and tree limbs in its way.

The Hotel

This place was almost like being in the midst of a forest made from stone. The arched doorways, the decorated walls, even the surprisingly thin leaf textures over the windows. In places the decorative limbs that wound across the walls had been damaged by time, and those stone limbs were gone in places.

The 'thunk' of Kaz's cane punctuated his steps as he walked. First from the staicase to the first floor of tree-rooms. Then down the hallway and looking through each of the rooms at a time. Once that was finished he repeated the process for the second and third floors.

The Corridor

This place was so badly overgrown that Kaz nearly skipped it altogether, but his curiosity got the better of him. So once again he picked up his cane and though he limped noticably, he was slowly picking his way past the tangled roots of the trees that had sprouted up here. In the midst of it, he found where one of the giant trees had been felled. Sunlight was no longer trapped by the canopy and instead flooded along the length of it. Kaz had a nagging sense of unease since it didn't look like this tree had been felled by disease but if it was something else about other vegetation in the forest Kaz wanted to know about it. He was careful and slower than most people were but picked his way along, using the trees trunk as a pathway and avoiding the vegetation on the ground.

Power Station Facilities

This was a little closer to what was to be expected from the stone and metal facade, though that didn't seem to be the same stone as many of the other buildings. It was darker inside but this entire place had a utilitarian feel. Rooms that had been meant as offices took a bit of navigating but it was worth taking the extra time to explore them when, using the small mag lite flashlight revealed what were definitely crystals, but they did not look at all like the power crystals used in Temba already. Curious, and intrigued, Kaz tucked them under the same arm that was already using his cane so he still had one hand free. He looked into rooms that housed generators and took note of what the Engineering Datapoint told him was a water treatment facility, also noted the dust of time gathered on both, then came to a room that was showing the power grid. The Engineering Datapoint also told him any relays needed were likely subterranean, but that didn;t necessarily mean the crystals would be rendered useless.

Power Station

From the far end of the station opposite where Kaz was, there was the scuff of booted steps and then the screeching groan of a door that had probably been shut for who knew how long being forced open. ...it went on for a bit, an embarrassingly awkward progress, really.

By the time Kaz came to investigate he'd find Cayde with his fingers curled around the edge of the stubborn sliding door to one of the old offices, trying to pull it along its track a little wider. His Ghost floated off to the side, watching her Guardian's progress.

When Kaz happened upon the grid, he'd find Aeon perched near it, peering down curiously. At the sound of his approaching footsteps, she glanced up, and smiled a little as she recognized him.

"Hey there, stranger."

Cayde didn't have to hear Kaz to know he wasn't alone in here. Sundance was keeping track, and if it turned out their company was unfavorable, she'd certainly have told him. As it was, the Ghost simply swiveled to face the young man when he came over.

"Eh, that's fine. Easier any trouble comes to me than me lookin' for them- saves me time," the Exo quipped as he shook out his hands after stepping back from the door, eyeing the space he'd opened. Looked big enough to enter through at least. He threw a brief grin at the other. "Heya Brekker."

"Not quite. I was studying these diagrams first. I wanted to make sure that whatever I turned on wasn't going to also trigger any sort of security system or trap."

She pointed to the crystals under his arm.

"You've been busy. What are your new toys?"

Hotel

Kaz wasn't the only one intrigued by this location. Lauri-Ell, taking some time away from her looking after her Prince, she had come to look at this place. It had been rather large, and so Lauri-Ell thought that it, like other Agrii buildings, would be more comfortable for her to walk through. Which she supposed wasn't entirely true here, now was it?

But once she had heard the echoing noise of Kaz's cane in the building, she had started to search more eagerly, her hammer at her side and sparking with energy to cast additional light.

"Hello?" she called out. "Is there anyone here?"

"Guess we'll find out," the Hunter replied, turning to slip inside. Sundance floated after him, automatically switching to a more directional light to help them see within.

"Well, there's lots to look through." Cayde is immediately going through any sort of storage he finds as he says this. Given everything looks relatively untouched, he has his hopes up, even if he's unsure of what they'll find.

Well, wasn't that strange. Everything had gone silent. Huh. Well, Lauri-Ell wasn't going to stop exploring just because things were quiet. SHe just held her hammer a bit more securely as she continued to explore. It might take her a while to get to the stairs, but eventually she would, and start going up them at a steady pace.

Ah, a person! Lauri-Ell offered a wide smile to the other.

"Yes, I am. Looking for any potential nests of creatures that may be dangerous for those who might wander," she offered with that smile still in place. Lauri-Ell really did take protecting other He Rows seriously.

Kaz actually wouldn't be the first to draw comparisons between Lauri-Ell and a happy, if dangerous, dog. Nor, no doubt, would he be the last. Had she a tail the very offer of going together might get it wagging.

"Yes, that would be a good arrangement. It is wise to have someone to watch your back."

So why, one might wonder, was she off alone?

Ah, yes, that. Lauri-Ell sighed as she paused at the top of the stairs.

"I have lost track of my charge. And I am seeking him. I thought that perhaps he might come here."

Charge was probably not something Billy would want to be called, but she would call him that anyway.

There are children? Ah yes, the little green boy that looked almost like a Skrull and also not.

"Yes, that is an adult. He is important to my people, and I am a protector of him and his family," she answered.

She's not supposed to call him the Prince. She remembers that.

"No, we became separated," Lauri-Ell corrected. But the concern is one she took in stride. "And perhaps he does not. But is it not the nature of thinking beings to wish to protect those they care for?"

Perhaps she was going to the wrong party for that comment.

Shiny things were a plus, if there were any to be found. Which of course, there weren't.

There weren't even any decorations. The place was dusty from lack of use, and there were definitely signs of age. Cayde stepped away from his exploration of cabinets with a disappointed look, glancing around and then towards the lone desk that seemed to sit with some undeclared importance by its lonesome in the corner. No, maybe not entirely a storage area.

The Exo bounded towards the desk with Sundance and her light trailing him. "Well that's weird," he announced as he studied it.
