Those Who Stay Behind [OTA and Closed Logs]
WHO: Lark & Kaz, Lark & Omega, Open
WHERE: Temba Station and elsewhere
WHAT: Lark Through the Exploration Event, being Supportive Team Mom
WHEN: Exploration Event
WARNINGS: None?
1. A Gift Of Protection Closed to Kaz
She had made an oath, and today seemed the best day to deliver. Lark had wanted more time, to work on embroidery to make it look more impressive, to get some color in. But the announcement was enough for her to know that something was about to happen. And to give her word was something Lark took seriously. She bundled up the shirt she had finished the basic form of, and approached the station with all haste.
And once there, she waited, her eyes watching for Kaz.
2. Welcome to Temba Closed to Omega
New investigations and questions were raised, but that didn't change the fact that the Agrii could still bring someone new. And with people so scattered it meant there was a lot that still needed doing. The work today had Lark sitting in the diner first thing in the morning, sipping at tea and eating fruit and bread. This morning it was a stack of clothes before her, made for someone large with four arms. Her finger kept moving slowly over seams, and the threads that held those seams together. The thread just seemed to crawl out of the inside out shirt, and Lark only stopped in the very minor magic when the door opened.
"Good morning," she greeted, setting her tea aside.
3. The Day To Day OTA
The city seemed so quiet with people off exploring. Even this had not convinced Lark to leave. Hers was no longer an exploring nature, she'd given that all up years ago when she'd stopped tumbling for her meals. But with so many gone there were things to be done. In the mornings she was in the diner bring in fresh fruit and cutting it for easy food options, not to mention making small bundles of food for those who might have come back to the city the night before and intended to head out in the morning. In the afternoons she was easy to find around the farm looking after the glownies when those who would normally see to their care were not present. The creatures seemed to have an affection for her, perhaps because the loose wool on their bodies was so happy to jump to her own clothes and so she smelled so powerfully of them. And of course there was the night, when as often as not Lark could be found walking though the city with a heavy woven grass basket at her side, carrying supplies back from the Space Target. After all, how could she harvest the clothes and other fabrics there for material if she wasn't bringing the supplies back to where she could work?

She was still getting to know where things were, and starting around the city center seemed a good place to start. Making sure she knew where the place to get a meal was seemed even better. For an eating place it was strangely empty, but then she supposed nothing would compare to the mess hall in Tipoca City. She couldn't say she missed it though, and while the quiet wasn't bad, what struck her as more unusual was being alone.
Since the woman at the table was the only one she saw, Omega wandered over, smiling lightly as she looked at the pile of clothing there. "What's all this for?"
no subject
"I'm trying to break down the pieces of fabric into large pieces that could later be turned into new clothing, or rags," she explained, gesturing that the young woman could join her if she wished.
"I'm Lark, and if you'd like an extra shirt and pants and the like, I can try and make some for you."
It's always better to assume most people don't come here with much more than what was on their back.
no subject
"My name's Omega," she said, clambering up onto the bench beside Lark. Her accent tended to stretch vowels out here and shorten them there, but it wasn't too difficult to understand her otherwise. "I've never had anyone make clothes for me before. Is it difficult?"
no subject
"It is my pleasure to meet you, Omega," she said, setting the clothing aside for now. Better to address the girl directly.
"For some people it may be, but I have a way with thread and fabric. I'm trying to help people here have clothing they can wear, but I don't think anyone would begrudge me helping a young woman before them."
no subject
"Really? But if people have been here longer, they might need it more, wouldn't they?" she asked, pleasantly surprised to even be offered an option of clothing. That certainly hadn't been her intention when she'd wandered in here.
no subject
"Do you have a favorite color?"
no subject
"I haven't really thought about it," Omega admitted, glancing down at what she was wearing. "Maybe dark red...and black."
no subject
"It seems black isn't a common Agrii color, but I might be able to see to some darker reds," Lark agreed. She'd figure something out. And if she was eyeing the girl's clothes so that she could make something similar, one should not judge her.
"Now that we've had that discussion, just how new are you, Omega? Perhaps if you're new enough I can answer some questions."
no subject
"Oh, I've only been here maybe a couple of days, I think. Ezra told me about some things and where I could stay. He said this is where to get a meal."

Gift of protection
Noticing Lark and that she held a folded shirt in hand, he approached her instead of the train.
"Looks like you got a loom up and running."
no subject
And she hoped he'd like it too.
no subject
"I actually prefer it without embellishments."
And worn over the scale mail shirt that Tony had made it would do well for armor.
no subject
"Then I am glad the rush led to me not getting a chance to embellish it," Lark answered, a touch relieved. "I have given it my traditional protective spells. It should turn any slashing knife, though I can make no guarantee about piercing."
But she had done her best.
"I pray you do not test my work that vigorously."
no subject
Kaz still intended to combine Lark's shirt with the one Tony had already made for him. It did make a question of how wearable they would be together.
"Not that I'm being picky, mind you, but I'd rather avoid sweating through it. Is it meant for warmer weather or cooler?"
no subject
"Warmer. The first silk piece I've finished. Wool will come when it cools."
no subject
Silk was a lot fancier than he had been expecting. Not that he minded at all. Quite the opposite, since he was more than willing to actually pay the extra money it took to have tailored suits made for him.

3 - Space Target Variant
So far, though, no speaker.
At the end of one aisle, he stopped and frowned, deep in thought. To anyone passing by, he looked like he was very interested in various sizes of shelf brackets. "Damn it..."
no subject
"Trouble, my friend?"
no subject
"Trying to find a speaker. You seen any?"
no subject
"I would answer if I knew what a speaker was. I fear it may be yet another piece of this 'electronics' that I fear I do not know."
no subject
He held out his hand with a smile. "Nice to meet you, by the way. I'm Quill. Some people call me Star-Lord."
no subject
The four arms are very strange to her. But she shifts her basket so she can shake his hand. And when that was done she pulled out one of the four-armed shirts to show off what she means.
And in case he wasn't certain, she would be calling him Quill. After all, in her world there was chalk to write with, but there were still quills too, because not everyone had moved to newer pens.

No payment is mentioned at all. She didn't see a point to money here.
