Good day all. Mini and I were performing some maintenance on the First Breath and we got to thinking.

The ships don't have nearly enough room for everyone upon them to sleep when we're travelling. This is an ongoing problem I fear will only grow worse unless the Agrii offer us more ships. So for now we might be best planning for the future if we try and make what we have work. We might be able to move some of the smaller metal framed beds or cots from the store-like place into the ships and secure them to strong walls and floors. I'm already thinking to do this for the Breath, but I am aware there are some ships without Engineers, and I wanted to see if people would be interested in this. And to see if some people might help me move the suitable furniture for it.

I'm thinking the hold might be the best places on the ships, and we might be able to section places off with curtains.

I'm no good for carrying furniture but expanding the available bedding is an excellent idea. I'm listed on the Bloodsport, rather than the First Breath though.

Well, we can always open our ships to each other. I wouldn't mind, if I can find someone to help with the moving or I can get Cobb or Tony to lend me a something, getting things onto the ship. And even a little help goes a long way with installation.

I can at least help you get inside. And if there is any possible way to refurbish the ships hold into private sleeping quarters, that would be amazing. They wouldn't even need to be anything fancy, just halfway usable. A bed and a door that shut would be more than enough.

I don't believe a full overhaul is a good choice. There is value to the holds existing. But carving a small space out for bedding might not be bad. Though a door would give you more privacy than most people have

[ Seriously. Even if the room isn't much more than a sardine can, Kaz will jump at any chance for actual privacy where he sleeps. ]

It would be best of all if it could somehow lock from the inside, but just a door that shuts will be fine.

That would need to be something you would need to discuss with your shipmates I think.

[Locks, when they might need to find each other to offer help at any time seems... unwise.]

[ Probably, but without a lock on the door Kaz would be trying to find a way to put someone heavy in front of it or a chair under the handle or something. Paranoia thy name is Kaz. ]

Even if there's no lock, just a door that shuts would be good.

[Come now, what is there to be paranoid about when the magic that alters lives can come at you from a means you can't block?]

Again, I would be happy to help with the bed and structure for that. More than that I would not feel comfortable doing without consent from more of the crew.

[ If the ships themselves don't let anyone but 'crew' in, then just a way to keep that crew nominally out of a sleeping place is still very attractive to Kaz. Life-altering magic isn't something he's figured out how to avoid yet, but at least having a door to close would certainly mean a lot for him. ]

Well the bed and the door don't need to be decided by the group, do they?

The bed, no. The door? Yes. Internal walls partitioning down holds even further would be something I think they should choose to weigh in on.

[ Rats. asking anyone permission for anything is not Kaz's strongest suit but he will definitely try in this case. ]

I would agree with you, my shipmate, save for the fact that there has been a recurring issue where the Agrii just... Collect us on the ships in our sleep. THey put us in beds. All of us.

Even if there are not enough beds.

Well that sounds potentially uncomfortable. Although, that begs the question: even if we build more beds or hand a few hammocks, do we know the Agrii will use them in such a situation?

We do not. But I would prefer to check the potential to have something better. Would you not agree?

I certainly do. I also agree that it's better to be prepared than to be blindsided.

Yes, I am very lucky, and I'm very glad I did. Though I admit I'm glad I don't run into wolves here.

"Consider yourself lucky. Some of it is nice. Other things... Well, it's not dragons which is thankful, but it's still intimidating."

And intimidating enough for Reeve to do his best to avoid the wild areas, even if he had magic to protect himself now.

She shrugs, looking nonplussed. "I've dealt with some pretty big, angry things. We'll see how anything here compares."

Big, angry things? He laughs at her word choice. Yes, that very much describes a dragon in his book. Not that he really felt that was necessary to say to here. The woman was clearly capable.
