Having his connection to the Force fully restored is strangely disorienting and unbalancing for Ezra, and he was never completely cut off from it. He can’t really imagine how his fellow Jedi, who now remember entire lives without sensing the Force, feel. So, for a few days, he does his chores, mediates a little, visits other people, and tries not to hover while the residents of the Temple area regain their inner footing.

Eventually, though, he gets a little restless. Maybe some focused movement with a purpose would help the other Jedi, too.

Lightsaber practice in the open area by the Temple area, early afternoon today. Myself and Master Kenobi at least, still working out details. I guess it’s never actually been said – people are welcome to come watch! It’s polite to stay quiet when there’s actual instruction going on, of course. Also, we’re usually working on lower power, but for safety please stay well back while blades are ignited.



It starts a little slow, warming up with katas, demonstrating and talking through sequences. Ezra’s particularly interested in learning more about Soresu, the defensive form for which Obi-wan had once been well known in the Order. He’s learned the fundamentals from Kanan, but getting to see Master Kenobi go all out in the salles at the Coruscant Temple had been enlightening.

Eventually they get around to the really fun stuff – practice duels. They should really do this on some varied terrain at some point, but for right now, it’s flashing blades, jumps, twirls and flips around the flat ground. Perfect for others to come watch and talk amongst themselves.

Ezra'a soon clearly in a much better mood, beaming as he extinguishes his green blade for a break.

"Thank you, I appreciate the consideration." And if she didn't get to read them, she might send Ophiuchus to scan them for her anyway. Ikora was not against spying on the people around them.

Her ghost might be though.

"Those Archives were very impressive."

"I thought they were," Ezra agrees earnestly. "But I don't have a lot to compare it to. Before Billy dumped life as a high school student into my head, most of my education was self taught, or in the field. My first master had a holocron that had a few things he'd studied as a Padawan on it, but the Archives were under Imperial control with the rest of the Temple."

If they weren't largely destroyed outright. He doesn't know, but it wouldn't surprise him.

"Imperial control?" Ikora hadn't heard of that group yet. "Who are the Imperials?"

They sounded like an enemy of the Jedi but she knew better than to assume. They might even be a faction within the Jedi themselves who were hoarding knowledge. There were instances of that throughout history.

Such a waste of knowledge though to keep people from reading over different beliefs.

"Oh," Ezra says with a blink. He'd just sort of assumed everyone who had been part of the Coruscant trip had gotten a brief version of that history (if that's even the right word for it.) But Ikora showed up near the end of it, if he remembers correctly.

"Ok. You know that even people who know each other might be pulled from different points in time, right? Maybe even parallel timelines. From my perspective, when we visited Coruscant, that was the distant past. Grogu, and Cal, and Master Kenobi all lived through, well, first, a galactic civil war between the Republic and Separatists, and then at the end of that war the Chancellor of the Republic commanding the Temple to be stormed, all Jedi to be killed, and declaring himself Emperor. He's actually a Sith, which is a different sect of Force users, who embrace what the Jedi call the Darkside of the Force. I agreed to become a Jedi, at first, to fight against the Empire."

Ikora hadn't, actually. She had only caught up on mostly the current history of the time, not the future. There hadn't been an opportunity to ask.

Interesting. A political conflict into a dictatorship. She would have liked to read that history but well, it was too late for that now.

"I see. Thank you for explaining that." It was somewhat worrying to know the Jedi order would be wiped out for one man's lust for power. They seemed like a good order. "You wanted to fight for the right thing and use your powers for good. It's a noble idea."

"I don't mind at all, I'd just thought a short version had gotten around. So, you're welcome," Ezra says with a shrug.

"I got pretty caught up in the fighting part for a while," he adds, with a faint frown. "I'm really glad I got to see the Temple on Coruscant well, at all, but especially during peace time."

"I spent most of my time investigating current history when I was in the Archives." The Jedi hadn't really restricted her access. She had gotten Ophiuchus to do some spying for her in those forbidden places but hadn't download much so they wouldn't leave the trail.

She didn't regret taking bits of information here and there, especially "forbidden knowledge".

"Peace is difficult to achieve and even harder to maintain." Ikora knew that from the endless struggle for peace back home.

"Yeah," Ezra agrees. "If I get back home, it might never happen in my lifetime. And part of the task is going to be balancing peace with injustices that have happened. I'm trying to learn what I can that might help, while I'm here."
