He smirks back at her in return, because well, a friendly face is a friendly face. "How much do you want to bet that whatever's behind this gate is something the natives didn't want getting out?" It's probably a long shot, and Clint has as much chance as being way off base as he does of being right, but gates are built for a reason. And since it appears as though the planet's original inhabitants are no longer around, maybe the gates failed in their purpose.
