WHO: Wen Ning and everyone
WHERE: Main part of the city or the woods
WHAT: Exploring the land and collecting plants used for healing purposes.
WHEN: Current
WARNINGS: None at the moment will update when necessary

Wen Ning was starting to understand the layout of the land better and the city. He managed to even make a few connections. Things were starting to look promising, but he still couldn't shake off the feeling of loneliness and not knowing anything in this foreign land. He had never left far from home like this before. For the millionth time since his arrival, he wished his sister was here with him. It felt strange not being with her.

With his temporarily made bag, Wen Ning continued to pick up various plants that could be used for medicine and healing. There were many plants he wasn't too familiar with and there were some that he knew. However, based on the knowledge he had he managed to pick up the ones he felt were safe. He hoped someone here could tell him what they were.

For the most part he kept to himself silently observing everyone and gaining information that way. When he did venture into the crowds he made sure to be polite and cause any trouble. Only gathering information or providing the little bit of information he had.

He had been told there was a hospital here, and he wanted to go find that place. Perhaps, he could lend them his knowledge and help this way. He tried to make sure his black and maroon robes were presentable. They were starting to look worn and had dirt stains and tears. Hanging at his waist was his sword as well. It would have to do. He asked people for the direction of the hospital and where he could find a place to stay. He only hoped they would take him in and if what he knew would be beneficial for them.

Hospital

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-05-30 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The hospital is empty at the moment, safe for the single person in the entry area that's sorting items and boxes in a large shelf near what one might consider to be the front desk. The shelf is still a relatively new addition in this area, freed up from one of the rooms further in and pushed to the front. With how small their population is at the moment, Jon remains focused on having all the supplies and all the rooms and equipment needed close together.

The Archivist looks up when a new face enters the hospital and inclines his head a little "Can I... Can I help you?"
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Not sure about this.)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-05-31 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
"H-herbs?" Jon repeats, sounding surprised but moving closer to the stranger, taking a moment to look him over. Now that's an unusual look for sure.

"You're familiar with what herbs can be used to treat wounds?" The Archivist inquires, not bothering to hide his curiosity, but quickly enough adding "I'm Jonathan Sims, by the way. But just- Just call me Jon, please. I currently- I mean... I try to run this place?"
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Well if you say so...)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-05-31 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Jon accepts the bag and looks inside, but quickly has to acknowledge to himself that he doesn't have much knowledge about the local flora. He gives a grateful smile anyway "It's nice to meet you, Wen Ning. Believe it or not, but we could use someone with your knowledge around here. This may be a hospital, but I'm not a medical professional myself. I just.... Well. I try making myself useful." While hoping that no real emergency arises.

He gestures for Wen Ning to step further inside "We can talk further over some tea if you like."
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Your complaint is being ignored.)

To be fair, Jon isn't big on casual conversations himself, but he does remember his first days in this city. And this young man may be even more lost than he has felt back then.

So he leads the way to a room just a little further back that serves as something one may consider a break room. There is a makeshift kitchen and a corner to sit in. A thermos flask with tea is still sitting on the table and Jon picks up two clean mugs before indicating for Wen Ning to take a seat as he does so himself.

"I just think we both could use a break. And maybe..." He sets the mugs down as well as the bag of herbs. "Maybe you still have some questions. Or you can answer some of mine. We don't get many new faces here often."
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (I suppose this was a bad idea)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-05-31 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"You will get used to it." Jon replies with a short nod while pouring them some tea and handing one of the mugs over "A lot of what's on this planet is unfamiliar to me as well." And yet they have to work with it.

"Can I ask you where you are from, Wen Ning?" He has a suspicion, but those always should get confirmed.
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Oh crap.)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-05-31 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
China. Yes, Jon has assumed something among those lines. The mention of magic, however, earns his interest.

"Do you use your magic for healing as well?" He wonders, taking a sip of his own tea. The herbs are already a good start and Jon has intended to ask about them and their specific uses, but potentially useful magic is nothing he will simply dismiss.
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Tea break.)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-05-31 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"No need to apologize." Jon says with a short shake of his head "But being unfamiliar with what exactly cultivating means, I was curious. If you ask me, then acupuncture and acupressure are a form of magic on their own." The last bit is said with a little smile.

The Archivist takes a moment to look into his mug, then he shrugs "I wanted to make myself useful. Then I upset the one person actually capable of healing people."
beholding_archivist: (Go away please.)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-06-01 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
And Jon agrees that the hospital is in need of more capable personnel. Unfortunately he doesn't consider himself as very capable. Not for this.

"I don't know if he will. But... We will see." And it just might depend on how Sansa'a attempt at mediating between him and Altair goes.

"Even if he does, I feel you are a much better addition to this place than I am. My place is with the library nearby."
beholding_archivist: (This is nonsense)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-06-02 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Luckily it hasn't been overly busy. For weeks all we did was clean out rooms and make sure we are prepared for emergencies." Jon explains and reaches over to the box currently serving as a table to knock on it "And as you can see a lot is still improvised. Not a lot of the furniture is left in good enough shape. And the machines? Obviously not meant to be used on humans." Which makes the data point rather useless.

Jon nods into the general direction of the reception desk "I have... Started making charts. Of human and Chiss anatomy. To give us some orientation. It's obviously easier with healers around that can simply use magic but... We can hardly let ourselves depend on them."

also hospital!

This place was turning out to be livelier than Tony had taken it for. It wasn't somewhere he had made it a point to spend plenty of time in before, and he wouldn't be again, but he had been under the impression that visitors were few and far between and wasn't the place to go when looking to run into any familiar faces. When Tony went hunting for Jon, he barely expected to find the man at his own post, never mind Wen Ning. It made Tony freeze at the front desk, his expression questioning at first, that question 'how the hell was I supposed to guess anyone else could be showing up now?', then briefly embarrassed before settling obediently into a practiced neutral cool. Bandages that had been around his chest trailed limply out of his hand, held inadequately against his heart that had itched and, honestly, it was about time they were changed anyway, he wasn't just causing problems because he was restless, he just needed to know where to find them. "Is this your thing, you show up?" he asked Wen Ning, other hand gesturing loosely for the guy's powers of apparition when least expected.

Having Tony appear out of the blue with his bandages off like that is... Well. That isn’t something Jon has been expecting and he grimaces visibly as he gets up to walk over to the man to take the bandages from him “Jesus Christ, you can’t leave these—“

But he turns his attention around to Wen Ning then, gesturing to Tony with one hand “Our... Currently one patient, Tony Stark. I..... Take it you have met? We have everything over in the examination room.”

Ei the one hand he ushers Tony in the direction he is well aware the man knows by now, while the other waves towards Wen Ning to come along “Guess I get to show you everything on an actual patient.”

"I didn't decide..." Tony had started to hiss, not sure when he had made this many commitments to this many people to have caused such a disruption with one little hospital vacation. Letting Cayde down with his gun was shameful enough, thank you, he didn't need to know anyone was checking at the forge, and he definitely didn't need two people approaching him like that. He was clearly loathe to give up the bandages, pressing his hand back over the ragged star scorched into his chest, and shot a wildly questioning look Jon's way as he shuffled back out to the hall. He was just going to let Wen Ning see Tony like this? Had Tony done something to offend him already? He just got here, he thought, he was obviously struggling to keep up with all of the things he could do to irritate Jon. "You didn't touch anything, did you?" he thought to check then, throwing his question to Wen Ning just as aggressively, not sure if he should be the one they were worried about here. Wen Ning didn't know what most of that stuff was, he could have eaten the gun powder.

"Tony, please. He's here to help and you know we can use people with actual experience in tending to people." Jon cuts in with a hand on Tony's shoulder to gently, yet decidedly stirring him into the room that stores most of their supplies.

"All we will do is check the wound, maybe clean it and renew those bandages. If you wish, you can then join us for some tea." He can only hope that Tony eases up a little more around Wen Ning quickly. That aggression won't do any of them well.

Jon had been doing just fine, in Tony's opinion, when he was around, and when he couldn't be found he wasn't as good at hiding that bottle of pills as he thought, so this hiring process could easily wait until Tony was done here and somebody else could have a different physician. It was a cruel abandonment to weather this position he didn't want at the hospital just long enough to hand Tony off in the middle of the disaster he didn't want to be having, either. Tony knew he didn't want to be here, so he didn't protest the corralling, slinking more meekly at the reminder. But Tony didn't want to be here without him, either.

Not any less aggressively, Tony hissed, "Did you check his credentials? He doesn't know what lights are," then to Wen Ning, "You're not going to try to balance my humours, are you? Just so you know, I don't do leeches."

After Wild Tony Encounter~

[personal profile] wearingthestars 2020-06-03 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Billy could have magicked up some food but he needed the air, and was just now returning with some food to go from Eli's for the lot of them when he spotted an unfamiliar face sitting outside the hospital.

He offered a small wave, slowing as he approached. "Hey- you a new patient, or...?" He didn't look so hot right now, and Billy flashed a sympathetic smile.

[personal profile] wearingthestars 2020-06-03 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That didn't sound right. Billy's head tilted with confusion. "Wha- Jon said that?" he pressed, sure Jon would have been ecstatic to have more helping hands.

[personal profile] wearingthestars 2020-06-03 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tony?" They only had the one after all. Billy gave an understanding hum, but looked conflicted.

"Can I-?" he gestured to the space beside Wen Ning for permission before taking a seat.

"Both my parents are doctors. Different kinds, but...same kind of stress. My dad always said that being a doctor you saw people at their very best, and their very worst, and that the hardest part of it was that you had to carry through and be strong however hard it was. You're going to deal with people at their most hurt, and their most vulnerable, and they might lash out. They might hate you in that moment. But it's your job to be there for them. It's a really hard job..."

He offered a small smile. "You're allowed to be upset, but...if you want to do this, you need to push through. We could definitely use the help. But if you aren't able to take the bad with the good then...it's going to be really tough for you."
wearingthestars: (oh?)

[personal profile] wearingthestars 2020-06-03 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Billy offered a calm, sympathetic presence, letting the other speak, magicking up a tissue to offer him with a nod.

"Look...no one here knows your past. You get to build yourself into whoever you want to be. And if you want to help people that's amazing. And yeah...people are always going to judge you...or give you a rough time sometimes, but you have to stick to what it is you want to do, and if that's help people, then you do it...no matter what."

Billy wasn't usually the sort for giving these sorts of pep talks, he always thought that was more of Cap's area of expertise. But...it seemed important.

"You keep trying. Because if this is really what you want to do, there are going to be some horrible, awful days, and you have to be able to do what needs doing anyway, even when you're hurting."

[personal profile] wearingthestars 2020-06-03 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"You can't always change how other people see you. You just...try your best and hopefully they'll see," Billy reasoned. It wasn't a perfect answer, but it was the truth.

"And if someone really doesn't want your help...it depends. If you're the only one there between life and death, I'd say you help them anyways. Some people might disagree. And if you've got help, then...pass the baton, do what you can. People aren't always going to accept your help, but you keep offering it just the same. Dad had plenty of people throwing slurs at him, and...worse, but...he said it wasn't up to him to pass judgement. They still deserved his help."

[personal profile] wearingthestars 2020-06-03 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good," Billy flashes a congratulatory smile, "We need more people helping. Just...hold on to that feeling, okay? Don't get put out so easily next time." He gave him a brief pat on his shoulder, and stood. "...I gotta go deliver this food to everyone before it gets too cold. You wanna come in with me, or do you need a bit more time?"

"Mm, don't worry about it, everyone has a tough time adjusting," he reassured, shifting his bags to one arm so he can offer his hand to shake. "I'm Billy, by the way. Good to meet you."
