If he can't, at least Cayde makes the effort to point out things like potholes and rubble or an extra overgrowth of weeds as they progress. There unfortunately aren't many opportunities for shortcuts, not that most would consider a Guardian's shortcuts practical when they tended to leap over walls and up buildings and things to get around. The quickest way between two points is a straight line, after all.
