"Okay," Alec replies, pulling out his stele. He traces the unlocking rune against the surface of the door, the stele leaving a glowing mark in its wake. The glow fades out almost immediately after Alec completes the rune though, and he still can't budge the door.

"Weird," he murmurs, mostly to himself. "That should've worked."
