I. The Illness Begins | Hospital
At first the power going out really didn't bother her all that much. There had been enough storms that it's more of an inconvenience than anything. All she had to do was go to one of the rooms she had carefully secured against fire risk, light a candle, and continue working in one form or another there.II. The Research Session | University
That was before the world was going through some American horror movie. It didn't even have enough respect as to try and be truly horrifying, like maybe something Junji Ito inspired. Honestly, it was tiring. Not that it took much for Tae to block most of the entrances to the hospital (they had protocols for a reason at this point) before setting up in a more secured room with the escape tools Wesker had given her.
Staying here long term probably wasn't an option, Tae knew that. But if people got hurt, they might come here first, so she had to delay as long as she could. Which would give her more time to pack.
That didn't mean she kept herself from picking up an IV pole when she heard someone moving around.
"If you're not a storm zombie, you better speak up," she calls out as she adjusts her grip. "Because I don't like giving concussions out unduly."
Moving from one place to another in a mess like this hadn't been high on Tae's list of things she wanted to get up to. But hey, sometimes you had to do what you had to do. Which in this case had been getting herself, with some help, to the University. Once secure in Tony's protections the woman was immediately taking up as much clear surface space as she could, pulling out an old fashioned mirror lit microscope, and trying to light a candle.III. Patch Jobs and Viral Jabs | Mines
"Somehow it is no shock that this attack should come in a storm. When I could really use any of my tools," she lamented to herself as the match finally took. Time to get the slides back out. She needs to get back to testing her reagents for trying to treat the infection she had sampled from fallen attackers. Which was not easy given the things went to sludge so quickly. There was just so little time to do her research in.
And, as ever, there was noise. Probably not something to concern herself with compared to a cure, but... but if someone was hurt Tae was obligated to leave her work to address it, was she not? With a sigh she looked back over her shoulder.
"Everything okay over there?"
Why had she ever bothered to hope that she might be able to find a single, secure, long term place to work on her research? Tae really had been deep in the pipe dreams there, hadn't she? Well, at least she had finally gotten to a place that seemed like it might hold up until this all blew over, literally and metaphorically. Though at least, as deep down as she is, her flashlight would at least give some watery light to help with her research. Which was important.IV. From Point A to Point B | Temba Streets (Either from Hospital to University, or University to Mines)
And now, well, there was something she was pleased to find too. Was it possible that...
"This... this could be it," she gasped, looking at one of her slides. Was it really possible? She had just tried some of that in her latest compound because she'd accidentally got some of what she'd thought of as a weed on her shoe on the way here. Was it possible that...
And of course, then there was noise. Dammit. Another injury? Another stress induced argument? She doesn't know. But Tae grumbles and jots down a few notes before closing her notebook. Maybe she'll get lucky and it won't be someone injured. Maybe she'll get lucky and it will be someone she can send out on a quest for what she thinks she needs.
"Alright," she said as she rose and strode toward the noises. "Who's making a fuss now?"
Nothing like a crisis to lead to a forced migration. For some people in Temba that might go easily, but for a doctor laden with research and medical supplies? Well, she was never going to be the fastest moving individual. Or the quietest. Which of course made all of this more dangerous.
Which leads to this. Her travel. She's practically shaking, nerves high, watching and holding her breath as she pressed against a wall, hoping to avoid a nearby shambling form. This wasn't what she'd signed up for, but damn she refused to get caught right now. Not if she could avoid it.
