It wasn’t quite the sort of party Billy was used to, more the sort of thing their parents might indulge in if there had been more wine flowing. But it was at least the most people he’d seen together and so he tried to put on a good face, making the rounds so he could get to learn as much as he could while people had their guards down.

The drone show was like something out of science-fiction, and Billy starred up at the sky like he couldn’t quite believe it was actually playing out in real life. It was perhaps the most alien thing he’d seen in this place so far, and it wasn’t actually alien in nature at all.

“How are they doing that?” he asked, gesturing to the sky, wanting to understand the movie magic at work.
