[Log/He Row Come You Knee Cay Shun] - Is This the Finger or Just Another Fist?

The first hint that something was amiss was a missed network ping. Donnie hadn't noticed the status alert, so set on the tasks he'd assigned himself the moment he'd come back from his supply run. At least Robotnik's bots were relatively hardy and the monitoring network he'd established was still running, but there still needed to be some proper maintenance. And a design re-haul while Donnie was at it. Robot-monkeys and giant caterpillar bots? Really? How were those supposed to blend in??

It was some time before he finally checked as another status alert came up. He'd installed a monitor on the train after he'd stripped down one of Robotnik's bots for something more compact, serving as a mobile signal boost and a way to keep track of who all came and left Temba by that method. Donnie stared hard at the image oh his holoscreen once he pulled up the live feed, unsure at first as to what he was looking at.

The train had stopped outside of the city and something was blocking its path, but he could only make out so much of it from his limited perspective. Uncertainty twisted in his gut as he dug out his secondary communicator, only tightening as he finally noticed the signal status. Not that it stopped him from trying.

[ Hey Leo, everything all right over there? ]

He hesitated before pulling up another name, even though he already knew what the result was likely going to be.

[ ...Tony? Hello? ]

"....." This can't be happening. "Breathe Donnie, just breathe..." Maybe...maybe it's just a hiccup in a faulty network. That didn't explain the strange barrier the train had come upon, and as Donnie attempts and subsequently fails to patch into any of Stark's cameras, that unsettled feeling only claws at him anew, growing once the train finally becomes active again, only to retrace its way back to Sh'ka, giving him a better glimpse of the ominous dome that was settled over the other city.

[HE ROW COME YOU KNEE CAY SHUN]

Te Mi? Anyone? What's going on in Temba? I- I've lost contact. Can you see anything? What's happened? That's... Isn't that your shielding? There's not another storm, is there?

Functioning (A few days into things)
Anxiety pushes him into overdrive, which isn't great when he's maybe eighty percent recovered at best, not that Donatello Hamato knows how to ever really take it easy. He doesn't like being unable to do anything, especially when his brother's on the other end of it and he has absolutely no idea what's happening in Temba. It's not exactly reassuring to think that it's highly likely no one's dead because then where would the entertainment go? Oh, but you can still be entertaining and slightly maimed, can't you? Haha, what a morbid thought! He shouldn't be grinning at it. Maybe he needs to take a break.

But taking a break means letting all those other thoughts come to the surface while his work brain takes a spot on the backburner and he can't have that. Working on tech is methodical, taking things apart is therapeutic. Putting things together is exercising what control he can over a situation when everything else is spiraling. Donnie's shrunk his world into such a tight focus, fueled by his work drive and a steadily brewing coffee pot.

The mind might be willing but the rest of his body still knows its limits. He's eventually forced to tune back into the rest of the world when his hand refuses to grasp the welding torch, his fingers alternating between numbness and pins and needles around a wrench, and it's only because he'd like to keep being able to use his hand that he relinquishes the tools and steps away from the workbench.

He has to hand it to the Eggman; the doctor had chosen a prime location for his base of operations, fairly secluded from the rest of the city but within an optimal distance from the power plant. Of course that just means that it's a good walk anywhere else, and one cannot subsist on coffee and space granola bars alone.

How long has it been? He hadn't kept too much track, but then it's normal for him to lose track of the time when he's completely immersed himself in his work. He's pretty sure he's forgotten to sleep, another normal thing for him, but that also usually includes forgetting to eat and he's unfortunately feeling it now. Right. Knew he'd forgotten something back on the shuttle but with everything else happening, he'd completely neglected to go back for what normal people would consider important. The distance to travel between the hangar and his current location makes the trek an even less appealing thing, but Donnie supposes he needs to eat.

As soon as he's made his way to the main roads, he makes use of his flight shell, zipping along through the city. Flying makes things so much easier, and since he doesn't have to worry about walking, he can cut right across. At least it's a little clearer towards the middle of the city so a flying turtle is easier to spot in the air.

Functioning

Fang has been enjoying Sh'Ka for the most part and has been looking for possible clues and treasure amid all the mess and overgrowth. He hasn't interacted much with anyone else, but now he sees Donnie zipping by on his flight shell and has to stop and watch. Cool tech is cool tech. And he likes Donnie alright besides.

"Hey!" he calls. "What's up?"

"Yeah! Thought I'd come check it out and see if I could find anything good here," Fang says. "Were you looking too?" They'd had quite a bit of luck at the space station.

"That Radley guy and Knuckles are pretty worried about it," Fang says. "I'm not much, though. Sooner or later we'll get back in. I brought my stuff here with me so I could work on my hoverbike."

He peers at Donnie. "You been eating lately?"

Fang pauses at that. "... Oh. I thought he'd be with you." He frowns a bit. He has been a selfish person for a long time, but after the events that went down right before he was brought here, he's had time to think about how he treated his help back home and isn't sure what he thinks of it. Maybe, although he's not likely to admit it to anyone, he regrets it.

"... They're probably all okay in there," he says. "I mean, don't these aliens wanna keep us okay to help them? Wouldn't be much point in letting us get hurt, right?" He's been here a lot less than some others and may or may not know that sometimes they do get hurt.

"You oughtta eat again," he drawls. "I do my best work when I'm not starving. I've ... uh ... got some stuff."

"That's how it is for that Radley guy too," Fang says.

He frowns. "I've heard some about these mysterious others. The Agrii can't do anything to protect us against them?"

Sighing, he reaches into his bag for some food. "You don't look like you'll make it that far."

"How could they be unaware of it?" Fang scoffs. "Hasn't anybody here told them?!"

He produces a sandwich. "Come on, just take it," he says.

"I'm not talking that loud," Fang retorts. "So why doesn't anybody else talk to them?" He's starting to think of opening communications himself now.

"Cheese and uh ... that thing that passes for tomatoes around here. Just simple stuff."

Yeah, he was hungry, alright.

"Heh. Yeah, they are kinda out there," Fang smirks. "But after dealing with Bean and Bark back home, I could probably hack it. Maybe I'll try talking to them."

"I'll be sure to make use of it," Fang says. He squints at the communicator. "Their spelling is something else."

He leans back, glancing over the sandwiches in the bag. "I dunno why I made so much. It's not like when I was traveling with Bean and Bark. But there's enough for three. Maybe for more."

"Heh. That figures too," Fang grunts.

He debates a moment, then hands over another one. He's sure Donatello can use it. "Eh, here. Take this one too. I'm sure I won't need so many."

Yeah, this kid needs some looking after when it comes to eating proper, Fang decides.

"Thanks," he says. "I on the other hand was planning to stay a while, so I brought food supplies. I'm used to missions of indefinite length. I dunno if those other guys brought much. Knuckles probably plans to live off the land, knowing him."

"Radley's probably looking into that," Fang says. "Maybe I should too, in case my supplies don't hold out. Any idea where stuff might be put? The greenhouse, maybe?"

"Good. I'll go check those out today," Fang decides.

He peers at the map too, although he's really looking at the spiffy tablet. "Nah, we all came on the train. That was interesting."
