A few feet down the shore, Tony was tense. He did his best not to look it, masked behind his sunglasses and fingers worked into the grass where they could twitch restlessly, but he was watching the people in the pool like he expected the chemical reaction to be explosive. It was the first time he had seen Jon actually out, near other people, in what felt like a decade, and as he watched him paddle across the water, he could follow the logic. It was almost impossible to say no to Steve, and Jon loved the beach. He might have organized his own pool party. Maybe they should have been seeing each other instead, it was probably a better match, Steve did seem very concerned about him--
Jan was concerned in a different way. They hadn't met, as far as Tony could tell, and it seemed to him like Jan was avoiding it. Jon certainly wasn't going to invite her over for coffee. That was going to take a little...push. Something to get all of this tension out of Tony's chest before it cracked.
Leaving his effects on the shore behind him, he slipped into the water to dive below the foliage that floated serenely on the surface and slip silently through the clear water toward the familiar, kicking legs. When he came up next to Jon's shoulder, he greeted in a breath, "They're tired, now's the best chance."
