Mm- okay- first off, how cute is this?

[He spins the camera around to show May working on her own plate, more of the food making it onto her face than into her stomach. After a moment the doting father turns it back on himself, a stupidly fond grin on his face.]

Second- who here is either Jewish and/or from a multi-faith household? 'Cause I wanna get May more into Hanukkah this year, but how the heck do you compete with Santa? [There's an excited sound from off screen and Peter rolls his eyes before turning the camera back on the excited May, big blue eyes beaming into the camera, chubby little fists balled up eagerly.]

Your daddy is literally Spider-Man, how are you still so enchanted by him, huh?

Soooo you're joining Billiam and me for the thing. We've got some stuff. I make a pretty decent Tigertuber latke.

[Don't at him for failing to hit the high holy days this year. It's been stressful and he's still learning carefully under his brother's tutelage. But he can definitely see to hitting up a truly minor holiday just to feel like he's doing something right, and to be good to a kid. What? He likes kids. So sue him.]

There's no Santa here, Senior Spidey. No competition. Agrii have this thing they call 'New Tick' which is like a gift giving and new year celebration in one but that's a bit away.

And we have fire. How is that not exciting? And gambling. Clearly we win.

Hmmm. Well, it's not a perfect solution, but maybe you could combine them? Hanukkah has gifts too, right? Maybe Santa could bring gifts, including Baby's First Menorah and that ... top? A driedel? And teach about their meaning?

[Or maybe the kid's too little to really process their meaning, but at least Santa bringing them might make it special.... Radley's not sure, he's rarely been around kids this young.]

It's a holiday. A religious holiday.

And my wife has a different religious holiday right around the same time, with big ol' colouful mascot that's hard to compete with when it comes to kids.

We weren't brought in during the same season as back home. She's had a Christmas. Kind of a formative memory for the kid. Only one not screaming during the photos with Santa at the mall.

Well you've been a kid. You're aware of Santa. What kind of stuff would have been alluring enough to distract a little from the fat man? Not completely, just...you know, a little edge.

Same god...theoretically? Different beliefs? And yeah, two holidays. So we want May to experience both sides. But my wife's side kind of has an unfair advantage since you can't take a step outside past Thanksgiving without being smacked in the face with Christmas.
