What he thought he was doing? That's not a question Jon has an answer for. But it very much sounds like a question Tony doesn't expect an answer for to begin with, which leaves Jon another moment to simply be baffled by this creation Tony has produced with what little he had available on this planet.

His amazement is being derailed by Tony's less than intentional answer to Jon's question. And while there's a very clear lift of Jon's head to look at Tony he sounds less shocked and much rather reminded. "Ah-" Yes, this checks. This is Tony after all. Jon still clears his throat and nods twice at that little additional information.
