His home just happens to be in the ground with made up headlines to cover up the real thing. A mall fire to cover up that Billy had created and brought a massive creature in to try and get one kid.

"I don't know why the fuck I'm living on borrowed time!" Billy doesn't mean to yell, he's just having a tough time emotionally right now. "Maybe the aliens think I'm fodder for all this bullshit, or useful, or something!" Billy doesn't get why Rogers is going to try and fight the inevitable. The blond is going to try and live while he can here, because it's over when he's home.
