Steve's smile fades a little but not completely. He continues to stroke at Eddie's hair, just enjoying the wild curls under his fingertips. "You were a fucking hero," Steve finally says in a hushed voice.

"You saved Dustin's life. You were...are...the bravest person I know, Eddie. I get to love you, here. Have you. But even back...back in all that shit? I'm so happy I knew you. So fucking proud I had you as a friend."
