His assumptions would be entirely wrong, not that Felwinter has any idea of what's going on through the kid's mind as he rises again. In the next movement he's leaping into the air, and then up and up rather than the expected draw back down, ignoring gravity's laws as he angles for the nearest roof across the way.

Already he's working out the best way to approach. With the spacing it would be difficult to maintain a glide all the way to the memorial's center. Best to get as close to its edge before working out the way down. It would still take some clearing out given how overgrown the sunken area had become.
