He tried to smile. Tried to laugh. No sound came from the soft sigh he exhaled instead. "Same as Rex. He's the one who took us in after our first assignment.

"Same squad, too." It was a detail he hesitated on saying aloud, but it slipped out all the same. "We went through training together."
