Tony's behavior, especially pushing his hand into the hole was creeping Kaz right out. It wasn't outright terror but a low-level disquiet that was causing worry for Kaz though he couldn't exactly say about what he felt anxiety over.

"That's another piece of this shitty puzzle I haven't figured out yet. For the moment all I've got is 'stay off the streets and out of their line of sight.'"

Kaz tried valiantly to look Tony in the eye beside him, but that hole kept drawing his gaze.
