Cal had just told Tony that some of the people they were talking about were capable of 'influencing minds', and the other had been those people's canon fodder, so Tony pursed his lips and raised an eyebrow back to insist that Cal really didn't have to sound so baffled. It probably didn't feel like it to Cal after the life in hiding that he had described to Tony, but part of recognizing the responsibility of the power he had meant recognizing the power he had over people, too. That one could be just as fraught as a bad fight.
