He started to smile, but that whine as Tony's pointed his palm at him triggered a sudden and vivid sensory memory. It happened in just a fraction of a second, but in that moment Bucky's gaze hardened, clearly somewhere else, and his hand moved reflexively for a weapon that wasn't there.

Then a beat passed and he blinked, refocusing and swallowing uncomfortably as he tried to shake it off. His lips twitched into a brief, forced smile to try and reassure Stark, turning away from him and trying to distance them from having to acknowledge whatever that was.

"...I'm gonna see how far this goes."
