Where's the Elf Help Section?

WHO: Moonshine and you!
WHERE: The Bishop, Town Center, near the flood plain
WHAT: Getting her bearings, making friends and influencing people, getting into trouble
WHEN: After the superhero event, as she arrived in the aftermath

[Closed to the Crew of the Bishop] Queen Takes Bishop
Upon being informed that she's been assigned to the Bishop, the ship becomes one of Moonshine's first places to explore. The larger rooms make her height look even more ridiculous against the proportions of the ship, but she still makes a point of poking her head into as many of the rooms as possible. At one point, she even picks one of the exposed cords in the wall, following its length to see where it leads. It's as useful as anything, as any signs indicating what's where on the ship are useless to her.

One particular place to find her poking around is the Galley, where the refrigerator and freezer seem to confuse her more than anything else she's seen. "What's the use of a big box of cold?"

[OTA] Nyoom!
It's a bright day in the city center, when suddenly a grey wolf with a small purple-clad woman riding on his back bolt across from somewhere near the livestock nursery, around the fountain toward the Whale Come Sent Her. Someone's excited to stretch his legs, it seems, though he alternates between zoomies and stopping to sniff around things. It is entirely possible that those who aren't paying attention to their surroundings may be half bowled-over by an overeager wolf and his apologetic rider.

[OTA] The Wild Hunt
Eventually, Steadypaw catches the scent of a nest of piglet-squirrels toward the south end of the Town Center, tracking their scent down toward the flood plain. Those within earshot may hear a loud "AYOOOOOOAH!" from Moonshade as the pair harry their prey. If anyone's interested in a delicious breakfast of fresh piglet-squirrel meat, feel free to join the pair as they hunt. After all, Moonshade's without the knife or bow and arrows she'd normally be packing for such a hunt. She has, however, fashioned herself a slingshot and gathered some rocks, but more firepower would obviously be appreciated.

"Dank farrick!"

Cobb went down hard as something furry caught his legs. For a moment he just laid there, silently cursing whatever was running around the city and himself for not paying close attention. He had a lot of his mind and well he just wasn't paying attention.

Maybe he was getting too comfortable here.

He rolled over and sat up, resting his arms on his knees glaring slightly at the creature that had run him over and it's rider. "You folks mind not doin' that in the middle of town? I know it ain't busy but folks do walk through here."

Moonshade convinces her mount to slow to a walk so they can turn around and have a proper conversation.

"I'm sorry. I think he's excited by everything that's new to him here. If you can recommend a better place to run to get him calmed down enough to pretend to be civil, that'd help. We're both still getting used to everything here. We've only just arrived."

When mount and rider dash past the building that once served as the city's library, a group of young, winged felines that have been lounging in the sunny grass before the building raise their heads, one or two of the creatures even sitting up with cautious curiosity.

The second time the large canine zooms by, some of the mothcats jump up onto their feet, eyes trained on the wolf.

The third pass is when Jon comes stepping out of the library, leaving him to blink in befuddlement as three of the mothcats leap into the air to flutter after wolf and raider, zooming along the pair excitedly while producing cheerful trilling noises.

Obviously these cats aren't afraid of a potential predator but instead excited about a potential playmate.

The woman on the back of the wolf is laughing, reaching out occasionally to try and touch one of the mothcats, because clearly this is just a big old game of tag now. The wolf leaps up at one point to try to catch one as well, missing by several inches.

"These clearly aren't food, Steadypaw. Play nice. For all we know, this is the closest you'll get to pack around here."

"There's a big open area by the lake." Cobb pulled up the map of the town and pointed to the section he was thinking of. It was right by the houses he was fixing up, a big open field.

He pointed to it on the map and then pointed the direction she and her mount should go. "It's out that way. You can run as much as your beast wants and not risk runnin' into anyone."

Even as small as she was her mount looked pretty tough. Cobb had never seen a creature like it. It reminded him of a loth wolf but it was pretty small.

"Ah! Thank you." She nods, glancing in that direction. "Is there anything else on the map I really ought to know about? Pretend I know absolutely nothing about this place yet--it's pretty close to true."

Jon stands and watches wolf, rider and mothcats round the fountain once more, blinking twice before his attention is pulled down towards where the Countess brushes lazily against his leg before sitting down next to him with a lazy swish of her tail feathers.

The mothcat that Steadypaw snaps after performs a roll in the air and then swoops down to land on the wolf's head, hitching a brief ride and turning to face the elf with wide, green eyes. The feline meows once before leaping back up into the air and resuming to flutter along.

With her next pass of the library, Jon raises a hand in an attempt to catch her attention, which she may or may not notice. "...uh... H-hello...?"

She notices, and makes a split second decision, leaping off the wolf's back for a three-point landing on the ground before walking over to Jon, while the beasties continue to gyre and gimble as animals do.

"Good morning. Don't worry, he won't hurt them. He's just wound up; new surroundings, new things to stick his nose into."

Since Kaz did hear something that sounded like a dog coming up fast, he waited until the very last possible moment to step aside. It was surprising how fast he could move when he wanted to, despite having a cane. When the 'dog' went by Kaz was very surprised to see what looked like a tiny woman riding it. More than that she seemed to be smiling? Surprised, some of his rudeness was replaced with bewilderment.

"Uh...well you probably shouldn't be doing that. Your dog will knock people over pretty easily."

"He's not a dog, he's a wolf. Dogs are weak, tame, human-bred creatures. Steadypaw's still mostly wild." You know, except for allowing a whole person on his back. But Moonshade slows the wolf down, approaching Kaz at a more sedate pace.

Moonshade and her wolf are not eh only mount and rider out in the city at the moment. Albeit they're hardly racing. Din's out on his blurrg, doing their usual work of helping the construction. The blue grey bi-pedal beast is currently hitched up to and pulling a hovercart, full of debris from one of the buildings somewhere.

Din catches site of the wolf and rider coming toward them almost too late, and he yanks on the reigns to try and maneuver out of the way of the racing pair.

"Watch out!" The blurrg, being a temperamental animal, will even give an angry high pitched roar at the other beast.

"Wild except for having someone riding on his back?"

Well, at least they were both thinking it. His bewilderment is wearing off too, and his wits were starting to work again. The wolf seemed to be about average size for a wolf. The woman, however, was child-sized but seemed to be a fully formed adult, was caucasian, had black hair, and her features were pointed. She was wearing leather that was dyed a dark purple, too. Making an educated guess, Kaz decided she must not be human.

"Correct me if I'm wrong but wolves don't do very well when they're all alone."

"You're not wrong. Without his pack, he's likely to get restless, but he wasn't exactly given a choice in coming here. Nor was I. So for the moment, we're a pack of two, and perhaps as we get to know people more, he'll feel less alone here. It won't be the same as home, but..."

Moonshade has, so far, managed to put on a chipper face. Tried not to think about her mate and cubs, on another world, in another universe. Tried not to consider her tribe, who must be worried sick about her absence.

"...We'll make do. We're survivors."

Moonshade feels as Steadypaw's back half contracts, as he looks at the top of the cart. "No! Steady, no, don't you dare!"

It's too late, the wolf has already begun to launch himself, trying to get over the cart in one leap. A foolish attempt, his paws catch on some of the debris and he and Moonshade end up toppling into the cart.

"Oh, puckernuts," comes the frustrated comment from behind Din.

Well. At least words mean they're not dead, and maybe not injured. After pulling the blurrg to a halt, Din turns look back at the cart and unexpected passengers.

"You okay?" He asks, and quickly jumps down from the blurrg's saddle, to walk back to the cart, looking them over for any visible injuries. "Not a very smart idea. Are you injured?"

Moonshade does a limb check, grimacing.

"It wasn't my idea. Blame this ball of fur. I've got a couple scrapes, but nothing bad. It looks like Steadypaw might have sprained a leg--that'll teach him to try to leap over things without looking twice."

Cobb stood up with a little groan. His knees were going to ache tomorrow. He dusted himself off as he considered her question.

"Well, the important ones are mostly around here. Depends on what you're lookin' for." He pulled the map of up again and started to point out buildings. "Here's the greenhouse and the bar is here. Good place to meet people in the evenings. Hangar's here that's where a lot of folks stay."

Those were pretty important.

"What is the greenhouse, and why does its color matter?" This question seems entirely sincere rather than just a joke. "Or...hangar? What does that mean, exactly?"

At least she has a family that would miss her, Kaz doubted he had any more than the one person that would even notice his absence. Unfortunately, Kaz wasn't about to say any of those things that could possibly be comforting.

"He'll probably be better off eating some of the domesticated animals here, I think they're called glownies? At any rate, people can eat that meat so it would be safer than rolling the dice on finding something in the forest."

"It's called a greenhouse because it grows stuff. Green stuff usually." Cobb had never seen one before now. A greenhouse on Tatooine would immediately catch fire as the twin suns rays came through the glass. Hydoponics were the way they grew stuff.

He motioned of her and her mount to follow him. They could look at these places instead of just a map.

"A hanger holds the space craft we sometimes travel in." They'd start with the greenhouse first. It was a nicer place.

"A wolf is meant to hunt, and so am I. Sure, we could survive on the meat of herd-beasts, but that's not the Way. Even if it's not as safe, we can't be happy without letting the moon sing in our blood."

She explains it patiently, not expecting him to understand completely. But it matters deeply to her, it's something she can't merely give up for something like safety.

"Ah. Yes, I heard something about them. I'm assigned to the Bishop?" The word sits on her tongue awkwardly, unfamiliar to her. "But I'm not sure why someone would be growing plants in a house. How would they get enough light?"

She does follow him, glancing around the area and then back at Cobb.

"What should I call you?

Din watches as he checks, and nods.

"Glad it wasn't worse." He says, though his attention turn to the trouble maker wolf, frowning under the helmet as he moves closer to take a look at the animal's legs. He's not about to try and touch him, though A strange, injured, animal could be a dangerous one. He looks back to Moonshade. Think he'll need treatment?"

"It's for storage," Cal replies, unable to help but overhear the elf's inquiry as he's passing by the galley. Hopefully he doesn't startle her. From over his shoulder, BD-1 borbles curiously, the little droid peeking around the padawan towards the new face. Cal glances at his little buddy, nodding before he looks back towards the elf.

"Guess you're our new crew member," he says, offering a faint smile.

"He'll heal fine without it if he gets to rest for a couple days. And it'll help reinforce the idea that he's not invincible." Moonshade shakes her head at the wolf, looking for all the world like a disappointed mother.

(She's had centuries to practice giving that look, since her eldest, Crescent, was born. It is honed like the edge of a razor.)

"We'll get off the cart in just a moment, when he's ready to move, if that's alright with you."
